The next Colston could very well be... Jacoby Jones from Lane College.
I don't really believe in that saying, but... he fits the mold, and he is a good return man...
I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Jacoby Jones from Lane College. He could be alot like Marques Colston in NO. He is also a pretty good return man. I know he played small college football, but he is worth a look late in the draft.
If Quinn is available at 8, someone might want to trade up for him. Maybe the Dolphins would swap picks just to make sure they get him. I could see the Texans moving down and adding another pick or 2.
I could see New England taking him at 28. They have the 24th pick, as well. With Dillon gone, a power back with speed would make sense. Having 2 picks so close together makes it easy to take a chance on a guy who very well could be the best back in this draft.
I would prefer Trent Edwards from Stanford over Stanton. I think you will see much more upside, if you take a look at him. He played for lousy teams like Jay Cutler did.
If you look at the numbers on the Clements' deal... It is not as bad as you might think. And, you know how the NFL works. He won't play out that entire contract. Year 7 and 8 are practically guaranteed to be cap casualties... It's a very cap friendly contract.
Being a lifelong 49ers' fan... and a Texans' fan from day 1... I can honestly say that I hope both teams stay right where they are and take the best player available. I think there is plenty of value at either pick...
If the 49ers are going to trade any of their picks, I think it will be...
I think Jacoby Jones of Lane College will be alot like Colston from the Saints. Jones is definitely a good candidate to help the return game right away!
In my humble opinion, Sage Rosenfels will be just as successful as any FA QB that we could bring into the mix. He showed in Miami that he is a capable QB. If we continue to put talent around him, he should be able to handle the job...
texasguy...
Are you going to say anything about the other schools that have more incidents than Miami in the past 10 years? If not, then you should really check the facts before you bad mouth the Hurricanes.
Unfortunately, there have been problems with Hawaii and their bowl games over the past few seasons. I believe the NCAA told the Refs to crack down on anything that might be controversial.
I think Rosenfels would be the right guy to groom a young QB. Kolb could learn behind Sage for a year or 2, then take over. Rosenfels led Miami to 6 straight wins to end the 2005 season. He has some ability!
I think you meant Charles... but I understand what point you are making. I think Peterson will be better than Lynch. He is bigger, just as fast, and catches the ball well too.
If the guy coming across the middle doesn't stumble... they tie the ball game. It was a good play call, and worth a shot at the time! Anyone who calls that a bad play... doesn't know football.
