The New New JaDeveon Clowney Thread

This is certainly disappointing and we would have been far better off to keep Clowney as everyone knows including O'Brien.
O'Brien apparently is one of those kind of persons who when he has a fallen out with someone it becomes a lifetime grudge.
Dunno when O'Brien and JD had their falling out but I can't help but think it happened, words were exchanged, and O'Brien got pizzed off at JD.
Why else would he do this deal ? This certainly is a case of getting pennies on the dollar.
I dunno how did they manage to get so little for Clowney ? And at least one would have thouht we'd get some help from someone at OT in exhange for Clowney ?
On the other hand I'm happy for JD. This was one of the teams he wanted to go to and it's a fresh start for him and I wish him nothing but the best in the great
Norhwest.

Seattle went 10-6 last year...the addition of Clowney makes them better..but I’m not entire sure how much better in the win column. The Rams are still the rams and barring injury they will win the division again.

Yeah, barring injury they'll repeat the most exciting season they've had in the last 15 years.

We're about to find out if last year was a fluke or not.

Maybe this is all a hoax to get JD to sign tender and they really have another trade lined up after he signs. Maybe BOB is gonna pull fast one lol

If they don’t win the division what do you think Clowney’s chances are for them offering a 140 million extension?

Rams got the division on lock imo...they picked up CM III in place of Frank Clark and they’re getting Cooper Kupp back from injury...the Seahawks aren’t all of a sudden division favorites b/c they got Clowney.

It’s hard to say really imo. They just extended Wags and I think It depends on the season Clowney has. They have a lot of money in Wilson now, their secondary is not very good either. If he proves to be that missing piece on defense sure, I could easily see them ponying up Donald/Mack money. No question he has the talent to get that type of money...the question has always been will he work to get it..can’t just show up and play the games...

Rams offense is still in tact, so is the defense. I wouldn’t expect too much of a drop off from them.

I get it. There was a time I thought BO'b was faster than someone too. But believe me, whoever that person is he doesn't coach an NFL team & he's not a GM either.

Maybe BO'b can help you squeeze lunch money out of the booger eater. But even that's a long shot.

I'm about to flip the middle finger to this franchise.. WTF are they doing right now?!

I can’t wait for the press conference where BOB tries to explain/sell this to us being a good thing.

There’s a big part of me that hopes the press conference turns into the walk of shame scene from Game of Thrones where everyone stands up and yells “Shame!” at BOB whilst pelting him with garbage

glad lazy clowney is gone. can't even break 10 sacks with JJ Watt next to him. can't cover anyone always giving up 1st down. only good for run D. not worth money he's demanding. motivated clown is still less than 10 sacks a season while having all pro next to him. lmao

seahawks won't even win 10 games next year just because their division has rams and they will see how bad of player clowney is. cant' defend pass to save his life. drawing flags. texans needs hard workers who will do every little things. not like lazy clowney who can't even be consistant as number 1 pick overall.
Go fk yourself OB, we know it’s you. There’s no way anyone else is this stupid.

Uh oh... I just read on Troy's texanscapcom that Lance zuerlein is saying the deal was Texans get Frank Clark, Mingo Jacob Martin and a third. But Seattle gets Clowney our first and second round picks. Man I hope this is wrong.

After further research I found the original tweet of Zerlien and a later tweet where he says he's combining the two which makes more sense.
I saw the first and second round picks and fainted.

I was happily watching Boise St and Fla St - 3 hours ago when they mentioned the trade. Ran in here .... took me this long to finish all the threads. Of course it's horrible, disgusting, and infuriating ! Main thought - O'Brien is not head coach material, and never will be, at any level ! Probably not for the obvious reasons .... they are only symptoms. Seriously, anyone familiar with Hamlet ? They refer to him as "the Melancholy Dane" ! Shakespeare knew that kind of person .... probably disliked them .... but it would be a century or two before folks really began to understand them. Back then, they used "melancholy" to describe someone who was constantly brooding or "vexed." Today it is called depression. Among many other problems, it is reflected by poor decision making and sudden, unwarranted - explosive outbursts. Hamlet is illustrated by "to be .... or not to be." Those aren't just idle musings .... the man can't decide whether to commit suicide or not ! It's not a healthy "fear of death" that plagues him .... it's fear of making a damn mistake ! Above all else, he is a perfectionist .... the thing that he fears the most is .... an err in judgment ! Therefore, he overthinks everything, and can never just "pull the trigger" ! In life, timing is everything ! It took me nearly 7 decades to get this. This type of person should never be put in a position where he must decisions .... especially crucial ones ! Above all, they should never be put in charge .... especially not the future king of Denmark .... or the head coach and general manager of the Houston Texans !

His one year deal was a tough sell. Give up a pick when he might not sign again. 3rd round was smart for Seattle it can be recouped if he decides to leave with a compensatory pick

This move by OB tops it all!! He has proved over and over that he is WAY OVER HIS HEAD! He is NOT an OC, he is not a HC and he is surely NOT a GM! This brainless move takes the cake! He has dug a hole for himself as there is nobody left to blame for his ineptness...as he sucked up the the McNairs and got all others fired! Your next Bill....I doubt it will take very long!

Nobody would even offer a 2 for Clowney...31 teams....Yet everyone on here thinks Clowney was worth more...

Dang..

I thought people understood by now that Clowney was going to go where he wanted to go otherwise he wasn't signing the tender.

We have no idea what other teams were offering because if some team Clowney wasn't going to sign the tender for offered more it didnt matter.

The good teams knew that the pool of suitors was small and Clowney had some leverage. So why would they offer more than some team that he wasn't going to sign the tender for?

And for all we know OB could have wanted to send him to NFC or non contender.....like the Dolphins. Even he's not a big enough moron to send him to the Pats or chiefs.

Dont be silly. If Clowney was on the open market and it was a true open bidding for his services he would command top dollar. There is no question about that.

Come on man, don't make excuses. If the Texans wanted to trade Clowney they had all offseason to get a deal done but instead O'Brien thought he would play hard ball and be cute and try to out smart Clowney. Clowney blew it all up when the power shifted after July 15th. O'Brien now stuck with a pile of **** in his mouth. Plus he has stained this franchise's already weak reputation. Hell a quality GM may not want to come here with OB still as coach.

I dont think you understood my post or maybe I wasn't clear.

In no way have I absolved this franchise. Here or anywhere else in life.

My post was simply about Clowney's perceived value based on the deal that was done.

Then

BOB should have let him sit his ass out this yr. No deal is better than a bad deal.

BOB caved, he acts like a tough guy, but he's really just a pu**y when it comes to but cutting time and the problem with that is Cletus is an even bigger syphilis infected pu**y than BOB is. But hey, they saved another 12 mil. Championship

Not to worry... Andrew Luck has retired. When the Texans win the division after going 8-8 it will be the 4th season out of 6 that Belichick Jr has led our Texans to the playoffs. Expect OB to get his next extension before his 4th embarrassment in the playoffs. It will be easier for Cal that way.

Clowney sent a message when he fired his agent. If Cal were a real owner who leads by example, he could have just picked up the phone and asked if Clowney wanted to meet and talk one on one. Much easier to replace O’Brian than Clowney. Put your team first, show you care, understand and willingness to pay full market value.

This will forever be a colossal front office failure. Clowney did nothing wrong. O’Brian forced the issue, got personal and executed a poor business decision. This wasn’t a trade it was a giveaway of a pro bowl former #1 overall pick who was living up to expectations.
