Again people keep trying to downplay Clowney's value but even mack didn't get a good LT in return. Clowney is on the verge of free agency and he can leave. That's why the Texans should have traded clowney when he still had one year on his rookie contract and teams had more assurance they could keep him.

Clowney is a top 10 edge player. Just because the tag and O'Brien have driven down his trade value doesn't mean he won't get a $100m contract whenever he reaches free agency. Why would a team pay picks when they can just wait for him to hit the market?

And weren't you the one saying a third for Dillard is too much? That Tytus is better? Now you want to trade a first for Dillard? Freaking lol man.

Nope. I maintained giving up a third to move up a spot I wouldn’t do. Also you are dead wrong to think I want to trade Clowney and a first to anybody. My post basically was questioning the soundness of the Herald article. Guy, you are all about unfounded speculation. Can I suggest...you have a serious jump to conclusions disorder? Edit. And no, I never said Tytus is better...or worse. Actually I never speculate on draft picks, predraft and especially on ones I never followed. As I said so often, my interest lies only in watching a team build and the philosophies involved.

I doubt very seriously that they trade fire Dillard. It would be admitting that they screwed the pooch in the draft. Who here would expect BOB to admit something like that?

Can you imagine the Texans giving up assets for some sort of Duane reunion never happen, but man you never know with these jokers. Ifedi is the hometown kid. Makes it warm and fuzzy somehow, until you notice he really hasn’t gotten better since he was drafted, Seattle already declined his 5th year option and I feel that A&M linemen are rarely foundational pieces and with Devlin at the helm you can expect further regression.

Duane could still probably give you 2-3 years of all pro level play, but it just doesn’t make sense. Why? I know Grand Dragon McNair is dead, but he also wanted to be closer to his wifey.

Seattle is going to run a train on OBrien lol just because OBrien wants Clowney gone to maintain his “culture” add that to the inexperience factor and it should be easy pickings for the good GMs our there.

OBrien put this team in a position that a qualified GM is vital. I would say that having OBrien HC & GM are conflicts of interest since the man is not taking an unbiased approach to team building.

It’s really embarrassing. We are the laughingstocks of the league right now.

If we trade for Ifedi it had better be just a straight Clowney for Ifedi deal with no picks involved.
It would also seem that Texans are set with RJ at LT.

You are extremely weak minded if you actually believe Bob McNair was a racist.. Jesus Christ people toss that word around too freely these days. Bob McNair was a great man and did ALOT to help ALOT of people of all races.. I know a couple of those people, so I know stories of who we really was.. Bob McNair was a great man. NOT A RACIST.

Hey man if the Texans were set at LT with Rodney Johnson you wouldn't be seeing O'Brien jumping thru his azz every day lately ttrying to find somebody, anybody.
If it turns out Johnson is our solution at LT that's gonna be a real stroke of good luck.

OB as a rule doesn't like starting rookies, with the possible exception of #1 picks. At LT, he would like a reliable veteran to start and slowly allow the younger player to play himself into the starting role. The pre-draft hope, and the reason for his signing, was that Kalil could occupy this veteran presence. This is also the reason he is adamant to this point that Kalil will be starting game 1. But I'm expecting to see Johnson working himself into the games, without the pressure of starting against some.of the outstanding talent he would otherwise be facing. I also think the coaching staff knows that Kalil has not played up to expectations and would like to replace him with another veteran.

Here is my line according to current roster:-
LT. Roderick Johnson.
LG. Tytus Howard.
C. Zach Fulton.
RG. Max Scharping.
RT. Seantrel Henderson.
Let them play and get some time together as a unit and this should be okay for now and improving over time.

Those guys might be good in the future but that is too many inexperienced guys. Rookies struggle almost by rule. And seantrel has always sucked.
 
At this point I’m not in favor of a trade. Last minute, desperate trades usually don’t work out well in he NFL. He’s been tagged, if he signs it then play him all year and basically yeah play him into the ground and get everything you can out of him. If he doesn’t then you are no worse off and Clowney loses money.

It’s a kick the can down the road strategy but at this point I think it’s the lesser of all evils. Unless someone in the Texans is a lot more of a trade guru then any of us think.

There’s always “good people on both sides” his public comments and defense of the Carolina owner speak for themselves. His anti Kaepernick stance it was not burning crosses and lynching people but it had its very real effects. You probably think Donald Trump is not a racist either?

If anything is weak it’s excusing anti social behavior with misdirection on other good deeds as if they cancel out.

We lost our All Pro LT and are in the midst of an offensive line nightmare and it was caused by Bob McNair.

So about the same as Tunsil.


Both drafted in 2016. Tunsil 13th overall. Ifedi 31st. Both struggled to start but seem to be trending upward.

Tunsil, however, has been playing on the left. Is there anything suggesting Ifedi is ready to switch to the other side for a new team days away from game 1?

Agree, but right now, we don't want to make panic moves and the line I named has potential so let them take their licks and by the second half of the season we should see some substantial improvement.
Looks like an upgrade over last years model.

Not quite the same. Ifedi had a 70 pass block grade (not including running). Overall ifedi was 55 I believe. Tunsil was 70 overall

I'm afraid it's gonna be this way until we get a legit GM in the front office.
BTW I think it's gonna be NP waiting on Caserio until after the 2020 Draft because we very possibly will be a non participant in that Draft because the way O'Biren is giving stuff away we won't have any Draft picks in the 2020 Draft anyway.
