Probably should have realized that when seeing we use a lemon shaped football instead of am eggplant shaped one.
Yea Eisen is a big Jets fan, he's a NY native and apparently they've been his NFL team since he grew up there.
I watch Eisen daily during football season and he is convinced Watson is leaving Houston and so he wants the Jets to be Watsons new team.
I understand that Sam Arnold has been a bust with the Jets but I've only seen him play once and that was our game with them a couple years ago and IMO he was impressive, but dunno what other folks on the Baord think of Arnold ?
But the Jets do have a batch of very high picks.
And folks I'm afraid Cal McNair, aka Tommy Boy, has screwed the pooch so he better have his new GM get the best deal he can for DW4.

Darnold has had the misfortune of having Gase as his Head Coach and defacto OC. I have a feeling Darnold isn't as bad as he looked quarterbacking the Jets. Just my opinion of course.

The Jets got Seattle's 1st RD pick and 3rd RD pick 2021 and Seattle's 1st RD in 2022 for Jamal Adams. So if the Jets traded their (2) 1st RD picks in 2021, their 3rd RD pick in 2021, and their (2) 1st RD picks 2022 for Deshaun Watson, in essence the Jets would've traded Jamal Adams and (2) 1st RD picks for DW4 - PRETTY DAMN CHEAP
Based on this if I were the Texans I would want Sam Darnold (who you could possibly trade for a 1 or a 2) plus an additional 2nd RD pick.
Texans get: (4) 1st RD picks; (1) 2nd RD pick; (1) 3rd RD pick and Sam Darnold.
I think I would've that deal signed before 4:00 PM this afternoon.

If the Jets were smart they'd realize Watson isn't the player to get them over the top. They have as many if not more holes than the Texans. They have the draft assets and cap space to build a really good team around Darnold. Jets, like the Texans would need the next 2 seasons to successfully build a team that could really compete. The difference, the Jets have the tools and the Texans don't.
If the Texans decide to move a disgruntled Watson, then the focus team should be the Dolphins since they just might be a Watson away from pushing the Bills in the AFC East. I think he's saying that if the Jets are smart they won't offer any package at all and we should be more looking at what Miami might offer as they are a more realistic trade partner.
My counter to that is Jets need to make a splash, Bills and Fins are passing them by, Pats aren't dead yet just badly wounded and they failed to tank right to get Lawrence. They could draft Fields at 2 but in a draft with Lawrence who they were so close to getting, Fields just isn't that exciting. Watson would be exciting and the Jets also have to ask themselves if they want to risk playing in a division where Watson might be in Miami.

One of the best advantages the Texans have going is being able to play one division foe (Jets) against the other division foe (Dolphins). The thought of DW4 signing with one of your biggest rivals and playing him twice a year would be devastating. IMHO I see a Jets package having more value for the Texans and having the 2nd pick in the draft is much better than having the 3rd pick in the draft. Easy math.

4 1's in two years. 5 1's in three years. 5 picks in the first 3 rounds in 2021. 9 picks in the first 3 rounds between 2021 and 2022.
8 picks in the first 5 rounds in 2021. They've got the picks to withstand a huge pricetage.
And particularly about the 1.2 pick's substantial value over the 1.3.
And they've got ~$40M more in cap space than Miami. They can take on Watson and Mercilus.

I could see a bidding war breaking out between the NYJ/Dolphins. Dont want to have to face him for the next 7-10 yrs. I'm just hoping some team buys the hype and likes DW4 much more than I do. I would rather have a guy that I thought could become a star on his rookie deal than have to kill my cap with a 160 mil contract. Remember last yr when a poster I cant remember who asked me last yr if I would rather have Herbert than DW4, my answer was yes and that opinion hasn't changed.
Yes, except I believe the Texans had good skill position talent. DW4 did throw for more yds than anytime in his career and that didn't happen with no help at all. including coaching.
The defense is another matter. They badly need a talent infusion.

Whether a person believes it or not one good thing about this whole fiasco is that if the Texans do trade him all we have heard this last week or so is that if you are not in the playoffs then you should be trying to trade for Watson as he will get you in the playoffs. Truth or lie if a person hears the same thing over and over from multiple sources they will believe it.

While Tau might be good in a year or two and I think he would be considered "a first round pick" in the deal giving us the 3rd and 18th picks in the draft. They probably won't give more than a 2nd (if lucky) likely a 3rd. Meanwhile, the Jets could give the 2nd and 23rd this year and a 1st next year. While maybe giving up a player or 2. Perhaps even the 3 first round picks and a 2nd or 3rd either this year or next. Which is a very good idea to have the Texans jump on the deal.
If we did I would not take a QB this year. Get a good vet on a 2yr deal. Then trade the #2 pick for a later pick and a couple 2nds. And you know someone would take that deal. Giving us say the 11th and 23rd in the first and then a 2nd (unknown what number) plus 3 3rd round picks. Use the 1st next year on a QB. And stock up on everything else this year. Edge, DB in the 1st. A LB in the 2nd and then grab a NT, OL and RB in the 3rd. And with the remaining picks we have some good WRs who are going to be around in the 4th and 5th. Plus more OL help or better coverage LBs. True, we have no idea what type D is going to be used. However, I would like to see a 3-4 with altering fronts. Meaning if JJ stays we can go 3-4, 4-3 and then Nickel, dime and even 3-2-6 and 4-2-5 as a base front. Right now I don't think we have the stud NT we are always lacking to run more than a 3-4. As JJ is double teamed (at times triple) allowing the other 2 DL to be close to one on one. Get a stud NT and JJ will get doubles still, but the NT can eat 2 blockers also. Giving a fresh, young stud Edge a 1v1 and allow the LBs to get to the QB also. All this IF we can get a decent DB in the draft and a FA. I have a feeling that we can do it with NIck running the GM post.
Question is: Will we trade Watson to allow it all to happen? Honestly, I would do it. But if Cal and Easterby are going to be involved to a larger degree. I don't know if we will. Heck, maybe we could get Sam D from the Jets too. He seems like he is going to be good if the guy has a good coach and recivers...RB too.

No, what I'm alluding to....the Jets would be much smarter to keep their assets and either build around Darnold or around RD1-02-002 pick, Zach Wilson or Justin Fields.
What I find funny is the national media failing to mention the cap ramifications or the history of the cap vs SB winners. They just talk about the NYJ's getting a top 5 QB and that's even debatable. The media/DW4 are being allowed to set the narrative and Cuck seems to only care about what they think and not what's best for his franchise long term. In this regard Cuck and BOB have alot in common.

Only other thing I read out of all of that was about not taking a QB this year. I think I would. I really rather like Zach Wilson, and frankly no one really knows who will be available 2 or 3 years down the road. But that's very much jmo.
And I loathe the idea of trading Deshaun. I think he's the real deal. Again, jmo. But, if he just absolutely puts his foot down and insists on never taking another snap for this team then sure I'd move him. I posted - somewhere in this thread - trade proposals for both NY and Miami. I'd do everything possible to get them bidding against one another and hope for the best. And preferably for the Jets, I want 1.2 and I want Wilson.

If the Dolphins got Watson and Cooks....the Texans wouldn't want to face these suckers for at least the next 4 years. They would be a much better team.
On the other hand....the Jets would be suckers b/c Watson would only be trading jerseys, not teams. Not to mention, the Jets would give up an important chunk of their next 2 drafts making it difficult to actually improve the team around Watson. I don't think Watson would get suckered into a move to the Jets.

If traded the receiving team cap cost for 2021 would be 5.7 million dollars for Deshaun. Add his just under 40.5 for 20 22= 46. Avg $23m next 2 Seasons which is good cost For a top 5 QB in his prime. Jets and dolphins with good cap space would be drooling over that and I am hopeful for a bidding war as both front offices really need to make that move in my opinion.
Personally I projected cap space to be right back to pre covid by 2023. I just read that the playoffs so far have generated record amount of money leading to a well beyond expected Super Bowl golden egg.
In a similar comparison with the rockets and Philadelphia negotiation for James Harden, I truly believe Daryl Morey thought he would out Master the student Stone. The Houston general manager instead made a deal with another team. Hopefully Nikki if given the opportunity to negotiate with those two teams will say don't be a Daryl Morey.
Not really because these teams have extra 1st/2nds from the Seahawks/Texans.
Hope you're right about the cap, but I've got my doubts.

Throw in Keke coutee whom DeShaun likes and swapTunsil a multi proBowl vet for Mekhi Belton. Nick Martin to be the Jets Center Watson is accustomed to. All of a sudden you have a much better offensive line in New York City. And both teams will have many years left tackle. Texans will have reduced their salary cap over the next several years.

I vote no to that deal. I think you can get Howard Straight Up for Brandon Cook Watson would have a known entity to throw 2 + the Dolphins need to move on from Xavier Howard. The latter had a great year but Cooks Had 1150 yards and if I remember correctly over 14 yards per catch. Bringing in your new top 5 franchise QB you would want to make him happy. In that scenario Cooks For X, I want more picks for Deshaun.
Ps I just read that last sentence and it looks like I am pushing cooks for either condoms or ecstasy.

Me also and everything I've read says that 2020 season ended up way above mid covid panic. Television and other media AR bringing in huge amounts of ad Revenue the last couple of weeks and going forward. They will be able to entice advertisers even more going into 2022 in my opinion.
Miami fans travel well. I'm sure PSL season ticket holders would make a killing when the Miami plays at NRG.

This is exactly the kind of deal I would want and Sam Darnold must be part of the trade. I'd even say (3) 1st rd picks, (2) 2nd round picks and Darnold. I'm not trading with the Dolphins just in case someone leap frogs them in a trade with the Jets and nabs the QB the Texans target (Colts for example).
I would rather keep Watson and see what happens. However if Watson forces this move I’m playing the jets and dolphins against each other and I’m packaging As many older players that have big contracts with him I can.

I prefer trade with Jets so I could lock in the QB I think could be the best in the draft in Zach Wilson.
I was not a fan of darnold when he came out of college however like Tu'a I cannot get a clear evaluation of him in my mind. We all know that he played for horrible head coach and had a Offensive line worse than the Texans. He is only 23 years of age. I keep thinking that if we get head coach that will make Watson even better than he is should not that same coach be able to make darnold quite a bit better than he is? Not saying they had the same skillset.

In NFL he continued his college performances as far as throwing interceptions. He ended 2020 with a shoulder injury but still played in the last one or two games as I recall.
