I was under the impression Josh Allen was killing it this year, like he finished last season. But, listening to Texans all Access last night, I find that he didn't play all that well in two of the three games he's played this year. Last week appears to be an anomaly.

Of course I think everyone is saying to start him on your fantasy team this week, with good reason.

But I wonder if we can generate enough pressure to get him back to bad Josh.

yeah, trust the opinion of a guy who can’t even admit when he’s dead as wrong about simple ****? Ok.

Caserio I’m sure will have his thoughts, but ultimately it’s DC’s call. All that other crap in your post…is irrelevant nonsense.
I think my track record has been proven right most of the time. Even about your Pervert QB, I turned out to be correct. His personal life was just as reckless as his professional life. I know that's a hard pill for you to swallow.

Are you saying that Caserio isn't making all calls within the football operation?

Vandemeer and Harris?
They're homer.

The Bills lost the first game due to more penalties and that punt return by the Steelers for a score.

The Dolphins game was a laugher at 35 zip.

Josh Allen didn't play all that well?
Yeah, well, that's a laugh.

Some folks can’t just go with the gist.

This season was to be Tyrod Taylor’s with Mills set to learn from the QB2 spot but that got derailed when TT got injured and the nastiest of NFL defenses coming up on the schedule. Mills has faced (2) already and the Bills coming up next. I would say Mills is getting his NFL indoctrination on the toughest path. When TT is healthy Mills can take what he’s learned from being on the field and better understand everything that’s happening while TT’s on the field. I feel like this is going to make him a much better QB by the 2022 off-season and when it comes time to compete with TT for the QB1 spot. I still wouldn’t draft a QB in rounds 1 or 2 in 2022 b/c I think TT and Mills are enough to get the Texans through this part of the rebuild. In my opinion, Caserio found his diamond in the rough in Mills. Let the team get him polished a bit more and Caserio would have finally removed a RD3 hex from the Texans history.

On the future, solid drafts are what set winning teams apart…..Texans have a really crappy track record with the likes of Casserly, Smith and OB at the helm. Gaines should’ve been given a little more time but OB wanted the helm.

It feels like OB and the McNair’s tossed a poison pill in their own well and OB got the entire blame when he was shown the door…..4 years to late.

The McNair’s turned to Nick Caserio, a potential GM Bob coveted for some time, and I’m sure Caserio had seen enough of the Texans shite-show to inform Cal he wouldn’t be coming to Houston without knowing he was the one running and building this team.

Yes, the Texans are in a full rebuild and it’s going to take 2021 and 2022 to clean the well of the poison. Caserio started with a culture change from the coaching staff he hired to the hungry players he brought in to compete. I think the real Cap work will begin in earnest come the 2022 off-season when Caserio has a full draft to work with.

The trading of Watson will certainly add picks in 2022 and 2023. I’ve mentioned a few times, the idea of trading Tunsil by the deadline or the 2022 off-season but have come around to another thought…if the Texans secure a LT in the 2022 draft….the Texans would have Tunsil for this season and maybe as deep as the 2022 trade deadline, where they may even get a bigger haul of picks than moving him this season.

I hope the Texans are in the top 3 picks and not 1-1 since I just don’t see a QB worth drafting as 1-1 and no team willing to trade up for an over-hyped QB. It would remind me of the Clowney situation all over again.
Well reasoned, although I disagree with some of this post. Particularly the part about Gaine, he was fired for HR reasons.

lol, according to you. All you do is throw a million things against the wall and see which sticks so you can say “told you”. You’re no more Nostradamus than any of the national yahoos. Keep patting yourself on the back tho about “my” pervert qb..lol. Honestly I look at you as the running joke on this forum.

Now, back to the thread.

the Bills will likely match White up with Cooks and force Mills to go to someone else. I’m hoping Miller can continue to emerge as a guy he trusts. Against the Panthers we couldn’t do anything outside of 12 Personnel. We ran the best out of that package and he completed his fair share of passes out of that although the TD drive came mostly out of 11 personnel….but that was b/c the Panthers were in prevent. The problem is, defenses know that teams run out of 12 personnel 60-70% of that time and there’s only so much you can do in the passing game out of that to boot.

11 personnel is the “base” package for most offenses and we couldn’t really do **** out of that. It’s going to be interesting to see how Much if any growth Mills shows in how to be effective out of 11 personnel.

In a way, I am hoping that this is what the Bills do with Cooks. I really want to see if Mills can get through progressions and find other targets. We all know the Texans are not getting out of this game with a win. Might as well see what 10 days of game planning can do.

Back at you, sorry the truth hurts your feelings.

Example: Wanting to bench the top rated rookie QB.

Brilliance

Agreed about 12 personnel but I do think with the Bills pass rush they will be mostly in 12 personnel again this week. I think Cooks still wins his fair share against White.

It's kinda hard to run 11 personnel with 2 of your top 3 WR's out for 2-3 more weeks.

he showed he can go to his 2nd read on the TD pass. And he tends to lock in on Cooks at times, but what’s really good about him is I really like that he keeps his eyes downfield no matter what. I think he just needs to get thru his reads a scoch faster, better learn the offense and I think he could be really good.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Mills does these next couple of weeks.

Would you consider Mills to be successful if he throws for 500 yds 2 TD's and 4 Ints facing these defenses? I would consider this successful.

This can only happen with on field experience.

Getting used to the speed of the game.

It was too early to start a game thread. We can reboot on Sunday.
Then let's delete. Not like there aren't eleventy-five other threads where the same people are talking about the same thing.
Tell you what, I'll merge it with another thread on gameday. Then start a new one.
Ahh... Our last game was last Thursday. It's reasonable that the next weeks thread would be started early... I started it.

In the past, we always had a weekly thread leading up to the game. Then the game day thread, on game day.

No one was starting the weekly thread, so I took it upon myself. No one starts a game day thread, so the weekly thread becomes the game day thread, which is fine... I think.

But interest in the team is pretty low, even amongst us. Threads are all getting off topic, because (imo) the game isn't the most interesting thing concerning the Texans right now. But I get your frustration sandman... I get your frustration.

A lot of those Cooks was wide open. If he's your first read & he's open  What's he supposed to do?

If you sign 50 guys, it's gonna be hard to miss on all of them.
True and this is the way I would've gone about it. If the Pervert can be traded instead of doing jailtime this rebuild should be better and accelerated.

Find 3-4 solid guys in FA and hopefully hit on a couple of draft picks, seeing you didn't have rd 1-2 picks. Then you've added 6 solid starters and you should be bad enough over the next 2 years to add 5-6 star level players to the roster. Then you've also got guys like Tunsil/Cooks/Howard/Brown on the roster.

This yrs draft 2 starters
This yrs FA 3-4 solid starters
Starters already on the team Tunsil/Howard/Cooks/Brown/Reid. 5 starters

11 guys that are starters

Then you draft 5-6 starters (Hopefully star level players) over the next 2 yrs during the suckage yrs and add 3-4 starters in FA over these 2 yrs. That's 10 starters

You've totally rebuilt your team over a 3 yr period in addition to cleaning up the terrible cap situation that BOB left you. Gotta find the QB for this to work though. Hopefully Mills is the guy, just gotta get him some gametime action during these rebuilding times since he's gotten so little time on the field.

Neither actually. Deepee did an interview with a Bills reporter. less than 60% completion both games. sub 80 passer rating. Totally different from the WFT game.
270 yards passing despite 4 dropped passes as officially recorded

(Go down to Advanced Defense)

9 rushes for 44 yards.

Against the Steelers Defense.

Yeah, not all that good.

The Bills took the lead with a long run.
Then on the second drive, Allen was 4/5 on the next drive plus a run for 6 on third and 5.
He capped ít off with a 5yd TD pass.

That's all they needed.
Doesn't matter if the RB lost a fumble on the next drive.

On their last drive of the half, the Bills got the ball back at their 9 with 1:15 left.
Sure, he was only 1 of 4 to end the half but that was because they tried to push the ball downfield to attempt a long FG, which was missed.

He completed another bunches of passes and a TD to start the second half.
The Bills went up 21-0.

That was more than they needed.

His IAY was 9.6 (Intended Air Yard per Attempt) for the game as compared to 5.3 dink and dunk for Brissett and negative 1.5 for Tua.

It means that he was pushing the ball downfield rather than dinking and dunking like the Dolphins' QBs.

Im not saying he shouldn't go to him if he's wide open. But you can expect that as teams get a feel for his tendencies they will either take him away completely, or cb's/defenses will start to bait him into thinking he is open with say some cover 2 man under coverage and he's not really. That's why coaches emphasize spreading the ball around so as to keep the defense honest and from jumping routes.

So I may have been a bit hard on Mills with locking in on Cooks. In the half against the Browns, 11/18 attempts were to Cooks, but in the Panthers game it was 11/28 attempts. Still 40% but considering he had 3 days to prep...

Even with playing a good defense, looking for the ball distribution to be better with 10 days of game planning.

He was probably given a rule; if he’s in man coverage go to Cooks, or something like that.

I seem to remember having a thread during the week to talk about the upcoming game, give predictions so forth and what not, then Saturday or so a game thread was started. That seemed to work pretty good, I mean, before the jam everything into the same 5 threads era came along where they grow to thousands and thousands of post, rehashing and repeating everything said every 3 pages. Of course, I guess that's better than 40 different threads doing the same damn thing.

Im not sold on NC but given what he had to work with... ANY talent acquisitioned with such limited resources is an accomplishment.... credit where its due and all.
Yep, the jury is still out on NC.

He was dealt a pretty crappy hand and I'm happy with what he's done so far. Although I don't agree with all the.moves he's made.

The Bills Mafia moniker has to be a joke. Biggest bunch of cry babies in the NFL. If they are the mafia, they are more Fredo Corleone than Michael.
They act more like Juggalos than Mafia. No offense to Juggalos.
Hold on, wait. This whole "mafia" could be accurate depending on context.

Are the Bills "Mafia" because just like Fight Club and the Mafia... nobody talks about them or likes to pretend they don't exist?

If so then its accurate.

Both NC and Culley have so far exceeded my expectations, as long as they continue to do so Im not concerned. Of course, going into this season my expectations were almost painfully low so thats not saying alot.

Allen is on pace for 4,500 passing yards and 45 total TD’s.

Kinda scary that he wasn’t playing well the first 2 game and still has these number projections.

But the truth is that he didn’t really play “bad” the first two games, he was just throwing the ball down field a ton which has a lower chance of completion than shorter routes.

Again, it wasn’t my opinion. It was the Bills version of John Harris.

But he averaged 224 ypg the first two games, three for 358 the third. I hope he throws for 224 yards Sunday, because it’s worse than 358.

I rather he throw for 5.3 ypa, because it’s worse than 8.3 ypa.

I rather he completes 54% of his passes instead of 75%. Because the former is not as good as the latter.

I’d rather he had a 35 QBR than an 85... can you guess why?

Naw lol our pass rush won’t generate enough pressure. And Allen will use his feet to escape the little pressure that we will generate.

The best bet will be to start him in your fantasy league. He’s going to generate a lot of points for you and his team. Our secondary is very terrible and our linebackers can’t cover to save their own lives.

Because you don’t understand “not as good” as it relates to stats vs in-game performance?

The “not as good” performance you mention, included a 35-0 drubbing where his offense scored on darn near every possession.

His TD’s were down because they handed the ball off 3 TD’s in the red zone instead of passing. His yards were down because the Bills defense kept getting Miami turnovers which created short fields for Buffalo’s offense.

Stats are tricky, with a small sample size.

Again, it’s not my opinion. I didn’t watch the game. & it’s not like I don’t like Josh Allen. I look forward to watching him play & I’ll root for him if he’s not playing the Texans.

But when asked why he didn’t play well against Pittsburg, he said

“Again, early on, just trying to take some of the stuff they were giving instead of forcing some things down the field I think would have helped out a bit,” Allen added. “Whether it be, you know, just first-game nerves or jitters or feeling stuff with my feet, but I again I got to play better and got to be better, I know that.”
He didn’t say, it’s a small sample size. I played pretty well, you guys don’t understand stats.
