Week 3 Game Day thread! Bludgeon the Vikings!

Disappointed in him for what exactly? For coach speak? For not throwing anyone under the bus?

C’mon man.
What Porky said. The Texans played like they had no game plan. Like they thought they could just line up, kick 4 FGs, score a TD and win. It worked against two 1-2 teams, why not a team that just beat a team that has the same offense/defense you have.

Well it looks like our Texans were the ones getting bludgeoned.
Penalties really killed them.
How many 1st downs were wiped out by penalties? The Tunsil penalties were especially egregious. Get 1 illegal formation penalty, adjust. He had a few. Look right and see where your damn head is. Move it forward as necessary. Was he that scared of Greenard? Did Greenard blow him up a lot in practice and Harris not report on it?

I'm not worried about today's game. Yeah, they looked like a big pile of sh!t. That's nothing to worry about for right now. However, if they start having more bad days, then we should begin worrying.

That said, my worry meter is beginning to spike with Tunsil.

I’m talking about what you realistically expect him to say in front of the mic.

The soft zone/cushion crap needs to stop too. When we actually press receivers we're not that bad. If this is how we're going to play Stingley we might as well not resign him, because you can't justify paying top 3 money for a zone corner. Top corners have to cover and take out top receivers. They need to let Stingley loose.

Worried is a little strong. I'm not worried, but I am concerned. They beat two teams most people don't expect to be good by a total of 8 points and didn't look great doing it. And Coleridge Bernad Stroud hasn't looked particularly sharp. Today was inevitable.

This is where I'm at.

The way they "practice" in the preseason nowadays these first 4 games are going to look like this. It has for most of the league for several years now.

It would be nice if we'd come out looking like the Vikings defense did today, or like the Saints offense the first two weeks, but we didn't & haven't.

The most important thing is to get to 3-1 which we've got a real shot at doing.. 4-1 would be really nice, then the season "starts."

What's this team going to look like going into December? Do you think we have the coaches to make this bunch of players a true Super Bowl contender?

Laremy said that he got away with lining up incorrectly the first 2 games so I guess it is the Referee's fault?
Not a great excuse for keeping on doing it. But who else's fault is it that he was allowed to get away with it, if it's not the referees'?

December? They have the Dolphins, Ravens, Jag's and Chiefs. If Tua is behind center and playing like the Tua of 2023 I see a humiliating stretch in December for the Texans. This team is giving me 2013 vibes. I've been thinking that all week which is why I expected them to get whipped today.

Drive killers destroys momentum. First play went for 19 yards and was called back due to Stover holding.

Very next drive, Texans moving down the field and stover gets obliterated resulting in a Cj sack and harder field goal. Fg missed. Cant fully blame stover for having to block Greenard. Coachs fault

Down 14-0 next drive consecutive false starts by Tunsil. That’s 50 yards and more loss. You still have a chance down 14

We really missed Mixon today. He is an outstanding blocker who would have picked up those missed by Stover. Stover was easily the worst -blocker- on that line.

Plus… we can’t forget about Scrugg’s injury. He did play hobbled today.
Running backs who fumble, used to have to carry the football around with them that week. I would like to see Stover forced to watch that play over and over on his notebook and team meetings. But no one on the team better laugh.

Nonsense. You could send a message to your team and players without throwing someone under the bus. Bench someone for a series or two that is consistently making mistakes. Coaches do it all of the time with running backs that fumble. Why not a struggling offensive lineman. What is exactly your solution to LT and his penalties?

I think it is like finding out that your girlfriend left you for a better looking, richer guy and then your cousin says his girlfriend left him also.
That could make some feel better, but not everyone.
Or I was just commenting on the games that aired locally today. I get it, he's upset.

As far as better looking richer guy, the Texans came into the league 2002, during that time I would not trade Houston's history with Dallas.

Totally agree. Mixon can run, catch, and block. He is a gamechanger.
I'm sure he would have helped today, but even he would not have been able to make enough of a difference to change the crap we put out on the field today! Just chalk it up to being bad, correct it and move on to the next game. It's all we can do

Agree with Carr Bombed. Nobody said LT was the reason the Texans weren't right. Everyone with a pair of eyes could see that LT was one of the reasons the Texans weren't right and that his screwed up talent for finding a yellow flag multiple times per game helped to kill some promising drives. It's getting old. My opinion doesn't count for a damn thing but I can't imagine why the Texans wouldn't be looking hard for his replacement in the near future.

So..you know rule but got away two games but crying now?
I was 10 last I tried that one, Laremy.
🤣😂
That's not what he's trying to saying. Look he had a terrible game. The entire team stunk yesterday. Tunsil was one of the worst of the stinkers, but trying to blame yesterday's fiasco on him is laughable.

People misinterpreting what he was trying to say b/c they’re upset with his game. It wasn’t an excuse for him to “keep on doing it”. The point he was making is it’s being selectively enforced how harsh they want to be with calling it by differing ref crews. 1st 2 games the ref crews were fine with the way he and his line mates were lining up. This crew apparently decided they weren’t.

Still doesn’t excuse his false starts, but the point still stands. The refs were horrible yesterday….across the league. And if they want to earn some cred, they need to get together and get consistent in how they’re calling this crap from game to game.
