Watson had it worser. Tell me something. How many games has mahomes had a perfect passer rating with 5 tds?
Opposite of gooderWorser?
He’s a smart underrated QB. Wouldn’t be surprised if the colts make a run.Lamar jackson winning at seattle is solid.
Brisset beat them both
Hes legend

Oh, so I see you're a stats guy..
You didn’t answer the question. That’s expected..

0 games to Deshaun 3.
Not even close to top 5.
40% of his numbers this year have came against the s h * t t y Falcons.
He’s pretty pedestrian against good defenses. Except when they go into the prevent. We see this every week.
Wasn't one of his best performances but he played solid today. The defense was the main problem today.
And the refs.
Most definitely. That touchdown they took away from Hopkins was straight bullcrap.
Wait ... what?
What's expected?
What question have you asked me that I didn't answer?
Not yet top 5 level but getting there. Just needs to get consistency going and I think that will take his game to the next level. It's weird, I have a lot of faith in Watson that I never really had before watching this team for anyone else we've ever had under center.
Watson hasn't had a consistent run game, a mediocre HC, bad offense line (that's slow and I do mean slowly improving), but has had good weapons to throw too in his short career. And most importantly, when he plays we win and even this season I thought was a 11-5 or 10-6 season.
Very true and that's why I love watching him play and wouldn't want any other QB right now. Still, I can't help but feel like we haven't seen prime Watson yet which is pretty crazy when you think about it. I mean he's not top 5 yet in the best way possibleIts hard to win in this league.
Thanks OB lolIts hard to win in this league.
But easier with a good coachIts hard to win in this league.

Well I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong as I dont always remember stats when posting, often relying on the eye test. Dear Lord that's impressive and Watson still has room to growHe’s the only qb top 5 in comp pct, pass td, total qbr.
But easier with a good coach
With only one eye too.@NextGenStats: Deshaun Watson evaded two pass rushers, scrambled 14.1 yards, threw on the run (11.27 MPH), and into a tight window on this 9-yard TD to Darren Fells to give the @HoustonTexans a 27-24 lead late in the 4th quarter.

The inherent problem with a top 5 list is it is a bit crowded right now.
In no particular order, I would assume most folks include the following: Rodgers, Brees, Mahomes, Wilson, Brady, and Watson.
So either this thread should be "Watson's a top 6 qb. Do you agree?", or, who do you drop to put him in the top 5?
Are we talking this year? Or all time? Brady hasn't been great this season. He hasn't had to be. if we're taking a longer view, given the revelations about Rodgers over the offseason, I'm not sure I'd include him. You can't be undermining your coach and changing 2/3rds of the offensive plays at the line and dodge blame for a 6-10 season, never mind what it says of your leadership qualities.
As of right now, the top 5 in QB rating (with qualifying attempts) are Wilson, Cousins, Mahomes, Rodgers, then Watson. Stafford, Carr, and Prescott are all right behind that, each with ratings over 100. Brissett has a rating of 99.3.
FWIW.
Additionally fwiw, if you were to total pff grade + nfl passer rating + qbr ... this is the current top 20 ranking you'd get..

Life of a young QB.
That can be said about all quarterbacks.
Go check out the Brady against the Bills this season. He looked horrific.

Tweet from @aaronjreiss: Deshaun Watson led all QBs in play action dropbacks in Week 8 with 19, per @PFF_Texans.
His stat line on those plays: 13/17 (76.5%), 156 yds (9.2 YPA), 1 TD https://t.co/5PqNea0emK
I didn't say he isn't special, I said he's going to get hurt and needs to be more consistent.
He’s 6th in completions, 2nd in first downs & passing tds. #1 in total tds. He’s playing elite and he’s going to carry this team to the playoffs without JJ because he’s the best player on our roster. Not sure why you feel he’s going to end up like Schaub when he’s trending in the right direction. Injuries? Every qb goes through it at some point. Deshaun will be the face of the league along with mahomes
Brady/Brees etc... Have proven they can string together 4 great games in a row in the playoffs.
Watson has proven he can string together 2 good games against lousy defenses.
Get back to me when he puts up great games in a row against the best team in the league.
The main reason I don't like Watson's style of play is,
1. It's unsustainable
2. He's most likely going to get hurt and this is going to be Schaub all over again.
This is called an opinion, not an agenda.
QBs who are foot happy and like to run don't last in today's NFL. I'm glad that Watson is athletic enough to squirm out of situations and make something happen, it's a rare gift. But, if you combine that with deliberately called QB running plays your starting QB will have a much shorter life span in the NFL.

His style of play isn't good for longevity.
I just put a post in the Silver and Black thread that better describes what I think.
If I were drawing up the plays for this team , the majority of Watson's passing attempts would be outside the pocket off of play action.
