The New New JaDeveon Clowney Thread

Still want to trade JD for pick(s) ? I do.
I've been a big Clowney fan since day one, still got my #90 T-shirt (I'm too tight to buy those expensive jerseys).
If somebody offered a 2nd round pick I'd jump on it.

If Clowney could put together another couple of strong outings......the Texans might get better than a RD2 pick, even if it's a rental.

Team has all leverage IMO as they control him; as season progresses even the high rank teams will have injuries & even those who don't will see a player that may take them deeper. We gambled on his health by not moving him before contract became guaranteed. Others should want that gamble also. If we don't get offer we want and if he is playing as he did vs Colts, we keep him. Money is not an object as of now.

I would add a very viable option in Green Bay. They're a starting DE down for a season and not looking to bad. The Bears got their difference maker.....I wouldn't doubt for a second that Watt or Clowney wouldn't spark their interest.

What makes you think the same wouldn't happen with Matthews. Btw, they had a answer at LT, but he was traded away.

I wanted Duane here, but he decided to use McNair comments as a scapegoat for a west coast move. He got what he wanted and he got his new contract (likely little different than what he would have got here, maybe worse considering taxes). It's part of the reason Earl Thomas was pissed.

Joe Thomas is a 1st ballot, how good were the offenses he blocked for. Take Matt Ryan out , insert Savage. Do you think the offense is performing so well? Tell me about Drew Brees OTs. Tell me about any recent great qb and his tackles. If you're a franchise QB, more than likely, you negotiate the ol. Who is the left tackle for KC?

You have to have a QB 1st and foremost and the Browns have nevver had one. Armstead and Ramczyck are very good OT's.

KC atleast is atleast avg at LT because they invested in their OL to protect their OL. (Fisher is a top 15 LT, not worth 1-1 though.) The rest of the OL is very good also and again they've got their QB and did what it takes to protect him. The Texans protecting Watson, not so much.

at least after week 3's games the chiefs had chipped, left players in to block, and had extra lineman in passing sets more than any other team by a solid margin. Their line pass blocking wise is very meh, and Reid does what he has to to protect them. Helps when you have one of the leagues best backs, best TEs, and one of the fastest players in the league that normally win their 1 on 1 match ups.

Ask yourself why Hill/Kelce aren't Texans.

Could it be they weren't Texans worthy at the time of the draft?

Do you want to stay on topic for once or turn another thread into a lets bash McNair/Smith thread?

You make so many good posts and then throw this BS like this in and negate a lot of it for me

So your saying after 16 yrs there's not # Texans worthy?

I'm sorry if you think Texans worthy is BS but look at the last 16 yrs.

I would really rather not screw up another thread.

Could it be they had DJ Swearinger (rated as the 4th best S in the draft) ranked higher than Kelce?

Maybe, Maybe not, but if so this is just another case of Ricky being really crappy at his job.

Kelce = Troubles in college = Not Texans worthy. You saying Not Texans worthy doesn't exist?

Please lets not screw up another thread. Hurricane/Boat.

Getting back on topic, Would you Re-sign/Franchise/Trade Clowney?

So he wont sign the franchise tender. Will stew and blast the organization for not supporting him or his future .. if the team knows without a doubt this guy will get hurt then they should trade him ASAP no? Protecting the investment and all that BS .. I mean they did keep him out of contact drills and workouts to start the season because they were 'concerned for him and his future' but not concerned enough to pay the guy.

See Earl Thomas? Thats why you need guarantees as a player in the NFL. Nobody on this board even remotely understands what that means. Some of you guys play with Grandpa Bobbys imaginary salary cap as if saving money for the McNairs should be at the top of the list. Like if this team is in some kind of financial difficulty. Just wierd.
Not sure if he will sign a tender or not. As of now, I think he will sign and though he might gripe I don't see him creating controversy; just my two cents. Team does not nor do we know he will get hurt. His 2018 5th season was guaranteed game one so investment has already been made and so far team seems willing to see how he does. How does being concerned for his health and limiting his play stop them from offering him extension at any time? How is it impossible for any or all on this point to understand why players want guaranteed money? I just agree with team's position on wanting to see how his health impact him this 2018 guaranteed $12.306 million. McNair has paid and paid well for players they want to keep.

What is McNair's imaginary salary cap? Space as of now is $21-25 million and seemingly no one to spend much of it on.Team is not in any financial difficulty and neither am I but no reason for either of us to spend stupidly. For years many have stated Texans needed to be more wise with cap and as it now seems they are you seemingly want to just shovel it with no thought about it being smart.

Was Swearinger a choir boy before being drafted?

I think, in hindsight, choosing Swearinger over Kelce demonstrates poor player acquisition in & of itself. But to go to #NotTexansWorthy in this situation is a reach.

I will trade Clowney straight up for CB Josh Jackson 2nd rounder 2018 from Iowa. Starters are Kevin King and Travon Williams with Jaire Alexander a 2018 first round pick. They also signed FA Bashaud Breeland whose three year $24 was voided by Carolina after non-football foot injury got infected. Current cap space of $7 m. Problem would seem to be cap space on any player for player or accepting Clowney for picks.

edit: eliminate Colts, Titans, Jags leaving Jets, Cleveland and 49rs with space.

Texans were also coming off a 12-4 season with pro-bowl TE Owen Daniels. I doubt they even looked seriously at Kelce

Has nothing to do with 'Texans worthy' or not...

note: just piggy-backing off your comment TK... thanks

edit: sorry to keep the thread derailment going

Max Bullough was suspended at MSU for violation of team rules like Kelce, the team still took a chance on him.

I'm sure there are other examples in the teams history, I am not going to go through and comb every single pick for you. You are stuck in your ways just stop polluting every single discussion on this board with it, its tiresome

on topic I am more in the boat of franchising Clowney, and maybe trade him depending on what is being offered. I'm not oppose to re-signing him, but I doubt he would take the deal I would be comfortable giving him. Which would be something similar to what we did with Brock's contract where all the guaranteed money is basically in the first 2 years, so you have an out after those 2 seasons

I haven't heard about Swearinger getting in any kind of trouble in college, or the pro's for that matter. Until with the Texans he tried to stiff a trick out my car business. The death knell for Swearinger was when his dog bit Clowney at 3 am. Uncle Bob wont have any of that.

Max Bullough you mean the UDFA. LOL

OK JD, so now you have to do that for 2 years straight in order to get paid by this team!! LOL ... meanwhile they will pay McKinney, extend Buttchin and waste money in free agency and then question your knee after games like these! SMH

or at least a few games as we all don't make evaluations off one or two games. No one that I have seen has said Clowney will not play well but that it is more likely his health is more limited. Team and I want to see more of play like this where his body is tested. OBTW he is getting paid over $12 million whether he is on field or not. I am not anti-Clowney but pro-team.

I totally agree with you about wasting $$$$ in FA.

I'm still worried about Clowney's knee and think his $$$$/picks gained would be better spent elsewhere.

It was about business. Bums were getting big money and he decided he wanted more. Could he have done it a better way? Yeah. Teams aren't giving away pro bowl left tackles. Solder got paid and Brown is the better tackle.

Maybe that comes from the top down. Justin Houston vs Brooks Reed. Tyreek Hill who wasn't even invited to the combine because he beat up his girlfriend. Owners have to sign off on those questionable guys. Has nothing to do with the coach or the gm.

Like I said, Not Texans worthy. Shish disagrees with me. But sixteen years of evidence doesn't like. Fans that don't want the Texans to draft the most talented guys deserve what they're currently watching on the field every Sunday. Just as Chief fans are enjoying watching their team every Sunday.

Different philosophy, different results.

the Chiefs only playoff win in what almost 30 years was beating the Brian Hoyer lead Texans. I don't disagree about certain types of things McNair not wanting on this team, beating your pregnant girlfriend is probably one of those and that I am fine with. Ray Rice was essentially kicked out of the league for punching his fiance I don't think the league needs a player like Hill in it either. We do not know what Kelce did, but the Texans have drafted players suspended by their colleges for violating team rules like Kelce was. We had a need at safety, and not at TE at the time that one is pretty simple. You cried that the Texans didn't draft a tackle you like (who went undrafted btw) because he smoked pot, when they signed 2 players this past off season who have had issues with pot before. You've even gone so far to say a statement as ridiculous as McNair only wants certain type of black players on this team like Kevin Johnson, and Justin Reid and he would never let us sign a Marshawn Lynch type of black guy, whatever that racists ass statement is suppose to mean.

Facts are facts, how many players have the Texans DRAFTED that got caught smoking pot? How many Marshawn Lynch's have ever been on the Texans teams?

Brown still didn't get paid any earlier. He got his contract the exact same off-season he would've gotten it here.

He wanted out and used comments from McNair as an excuse...even though he'd already heard the same stuff coming from McNair's mouth for years. It wasn't until he wanted his extension EARLY that it became too much for Duane to bear. He thought he was worth doing early, the Texans didn't.

There was a conversation around minicamp where they said we can't do deals with two years left, but they've done it before. Basically they were like, 'We've done it before but you're not worth that.' So, I'm like, 'OK, well, I'm not coming to anything then.'"

While I wish we had him protecting Watson's left side, I cry no tears for Duane. Devi wanted to move back home to LA and he wanted a West Coast team. They both got what they wanted.

If you cant tell, I cant tell you.

Since you won't answer I will. It's any decent player on another team you can make up stories that the Texans won't sign.

Lynch had no issues coming out of Cal and we took pot smoker Okoye over him. He's about the worst example you could pick for your fantasy land narrative

Whatever dude,

I've said it before and I will say it again until the Texans go about changing the way they acquire talent they will never be contenders.

If you cant see how Lynch isn't McNair's type of guy I cant respond to you because it's a waste of time for both of us.

your blatant racism is showing

Nothing racist about this at all.

We all know McNair's history which is what I'm trying to point out and you're living in denial to think otherwise.

Just answer what type of black guy is Marshawn then? What seperates him from a player like Clowney, Swearinger, Mathieu, Foster, etc.? please explain to us this one

Won't answer a simple question because you want to keep this post on topic(while you derail every thread), but will post LOL.

Hurricane/Boat

Bottom line is the McNair owned Texans have sucked and will continue to suck as they have for most of their existence except for a couple of years where they made the playoffs but weren't really contenders.

Unless the Not Texans worthy bs ends.

What does this mean?

I got shut down one time in the NSZ I had posts removed about a yr ago for getting off thread topic by one of our moderators. Since then I've made it a point to point out when threads get off topic. In particular by said moderator but not just by him. The name of the thread was the Hurricane/Boat thread. You should check it out.

What does this mean?

It means he still hasn't gotten the point. He was posting the same off-topic crap in EVERY thread. He can't seem to comprehend the difference between occasional and constant.

Hurricane/boat is the name of his Gofundme page for diaper pin contributions.
