I thought Cooks contract was guaranteed no?And Cooks will be released with zero compensation in 10, 9, 8....
Cooks survived the trade deadline and remains a Texan. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing at this point. Anybody hazard to guess what this fiery tweet after the deadline from Cooks' Twitter account means?
"Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted. Covered for the lies for too long those days are done. Crossed the line with playing with my career."
Doesn't sound like a man who likes his situation here.
Imagine acting like your getting the short of the stick making $18 million/year playing FOOTBALL. I get that Cooks probably doesn't appreciate being treated like trade bait on an annual basis, but WTF... Dude is playing football for millions of dollars for a living. He knew what he was getting into when he signed an extension with big guaranteed money. No sympathy for him now that he wants to win AND get paid.
Before that brother, we play the Eagles tomorrow.Cooks will need to put his hurt feelings aside and get his head back in the game by Sunday.
He’s still got a guaranteed contract to fulfill even if his play has been sadly disappointing this season. His play hasn’t done Mills a lot of favors this year.
If he wants a chance at another contract…..better up that game to his 2021 level.
Before that brother, we play the Eagles tomorrow.
Yeah me tooit is a culture of poor me
No other team would have extended his contract and paid him $18M/yr guaranteed in the first place. I don't understand what his problem is - is it the firing of Easterby? It would be ironic that Watson wanted out because Easterby was here and Cooks wants out because he isn't.He knew what he was getting into when he signed an extension with big guaranteed money. He hasn't played well up to this point this season, so if he plays any worse, he only hurts his future. Hopefully he will see that, and start playing better. I won't hold my breathe though. No other team would have extended his contract and paid him $18M/yr guaranteed in the first place. Where do we go with Cooks from here? Seems to me he has no choice but to play for his money. The question is how well he will play.
Does he know how the salary cap works? Ironic he wasn’t traded because of HIS salary but yet he’s salty with the team.
Wow... $18M/year and he's quitting on the team because he didn't get his own way. ****. Chris Moore WR1 it is
He’s ticked off because they fired Easterby.Wow... $18M/year and he's quitting on the team because he didn't get his own way. ****. Chris Moore WR1 it is![]()
Whatever. Texans are Cooks' employer they are entitled to do whatever they feel is right for the team—even if they promised Cooks something in private. Texans have a talents issue up & down the roster. Now we have a diva issue to contend with. UghHe’s ticked off because they fired Easterby.
Have there been any discussions of suspending him without pay for being AWOL?
Losing over $1M per game might 'help' him to 'get over it' a little quicker than continuing to pay him to pout.
So instead of showcasing himself in front of a national audience Cooks instead is pouting like a 3 year old and every other team knows it. Not a good career move.Man I’m tired of crybaby quitters being on this football team!
does anyone happen to have Josh Allen’s number?
I heard something about there being a default clause in his contract that could void his contract. I don't know the details though.Teams can't suspend players like that, only the league can..
Brandin Cooks could be in danger of voiding his $18 million guaranteed salary for 2023

Looking at the bright side, at least he's not a sexual predatorWhatever. He’s not playing today. Healthy scratch. Looks like the Texans are going to move him for peanuts or flat out cut him.No other team would have extended his contract and paid him $18M/yr guaranteed in the first place. What part of $18M guaranteed are you not getting? He can showcase his wares next seasonSo instead of showcasing himself in front of a national audience Cooks instead is pouting like a 3 year old and every other team knows it. Not a good career move.
Cannot move him just cut him now. He’s not playing today. Healthy scratch. Looks like the Texans are going to move him for peanuts or flat out cut him.
Still gonna be hard to trade that $18M guaranteedHe is on contract and we can trade him before the draft for a draft pick package or equal talent
Cannot move him just cut him now.
A bit more info than I have seen posted so far

NFL Rumors: Texans Wanted 2nd, 4th-Round Draft Picks in Brandin Cooks Trade
The Houston Texans were unable to trade veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks ahead of the deadline, and now it may be clear why. Houston wanted second and...bleacherreport.com
Only in pro sports can someone act like they are being taken advantage of for doing their job
This is so weird. I have never heard of a player getting upset because a front office exec was fired. This attitude might be the reason teams are so willing to trade his a$$.He’s ticked off because they fired Easterby.

as the article I posted under Texans random thoughts states: there is a possibility Cooks contract could be voided if he was found to cause a default. Good for team as it saves the money and also good for Cooks as he becomes a free agent immediately and can choose the team he wants to go with.
i hope this is the route they go if he keeps up his shenanigans. Noone waa willing to guve up the drast capiral NC wanted AND pay his salary…so in a way he screwed himself.
also shows NC knows what hes doing. Any of the little bit of assets we do have he’s asking for top dollar……Worked damn well in the DW4 situation……maybe there’s another Cleveland Browns out there that’ll give us a 2nd or at least a 3rd for an aging WR that thinks he’s a #1….but really is to a number 2/really good #3.
Cooks extension runs through '24 and he apparently still wants out. Is he tradable? Can we get a three? A two? What should we settle for?I would think that would be worth a 3rd just before next yrs draft.
It will depend on how much $$$ the Texans are willing to eat on the guaranteed year of the contract. A pick swap of the Texans pick at #73 to move into the 2nd round might be the easiest to make.Cooks extension runs through '24 and he apparently still wants out. Is he tradable? Can we get a three?
