Texans random thought of the day

This is from the NFL site. Now, before the season started, who would have guessed this would be said about them. It would have been science fiction at the time.

The Texans are one of the best teams in the league at protecting the quarterback (19 sacks allowed) and taking care of the football (eight turnovers). They don’t have any established superstars, but they do have a knack for making plays.

Stroud's vision and decisiveness gives him the ability to get the ball out very fast.
He is making our line look like pro bowlers and our receivers like all pros - a sure indicator of a good QB.
It's difficult to not be excited about him.

Stroud's vision is amazing. When he hit Schultz (I think) on Sunday after a crazy scramble, he had milliseconds to locate someone and he delivered a strike. I hope I never have to take the S2.

After the Bengals game I went back & rewatched the condensed version of all this seasons games.

One thing I noticed is how clutch Shultz has been. When we need a first down as often as not Shultz is the target. It has been a really long time (probably back to Owen Daniels) since the Texans have had a relevant TE.

The other thing I noticed is this teams resiliency. Penalties, fumbles or interceptions nothing fazes them. They just keep playing their game. It is really a credit to Ryans that he is able to keep them on such an even keel. The obvious exception was the Panthers, I don't know what happened there.

Finally it amazes me to watch the Texans march down the field in big chunks. 20 to 25 yard plays are routine for this offense. If Stroud can stay healthy & happy & the Texans continue to add talent the way that they have recently who knows how far they could go.

I don’t have any issues with people disagreeing with anyone’s opinions. Shitting on the player/s on every thread all because you don’t like them is an issue. This is ANDERSON’s rookie year, growing pains. Give the young man time.
I think this and the WA thread are the only threads he posts about WA in. Same with me with Stroud, except I also posted in the draft section. It just seems like it's every thread but it's really not.

I'm just glad that Stroud and WA have been able to set a new tone in the locker room as far as what's expected for this team when it comes to work ethic. No more Hopkins/Clowney taking off practices and bringing their baby momma's to practice anymore. This group is focused solely on one thing and one thing only, winning. This comes from leadership of Ryans/Stroud/WA instead of BOB/Derrick/Hopkins. a very welcome change down on Kirby.

This is where you are different.

I personally like the dissenters opinion. Keeps me from being in an echo chamber.

Now - can things get annoyingly repetitive - sure.

But it’s the internet and people need to have thick skin and not let things get to them.

But that’s just me and maybe I am different.

Sounds like Horseshoe Anderson 😆

JJ Watt wasn't picked with the #3 overall & WAjr doesn't have Wade Phillips.

Taking the S2 isn't the problem. The problem occurs when the hiring manager fails to understand the S2 is just another evaluation tool and gives more weight to the score than your resume, demonstrated ability and potential. At some point, you have to realize no QB ever won an NFL game with a joystick in their hands.

Dude on the radio brought up an interesting point - Texans came within an ace of winning two more games - and a 7-2 team in the league right now is scary.
Texans record is what it is. they just as easily could not have won these last two games. What could have been doesn’t mean ****. It’s all fate and fate has its own mind. Fate gave us CJ. Good judgement brought us DeMeco. It’s all about Divine Providence and sound decisions. But not one OR the other.

He didn't have a choice. Lovie told Cal he would take the job but he wanted his choice at 1-3. Stingley was Lovie's choice after working out both Sauce and Stingley.
The reasoning itself is stupid. That people actually believe it is even worse. As if Lovie wouldn't take this job without...

On the one hand, Caserio is handcuffed, but happy to play the part because there's a lot of zeroes on his paycheck. He did not demand to have control of any of the first round pick selections that are a part of his job.

On the other hand, those zeroes on the paycheck has no effect on Lovie Smith, but control of one 1st round pick seals the deal.

:ok:

I'm just telling you what happened.

Believe what you want too.

I'm just letting you know what I think about people who believe that nonsense.

Believe what you want too (I know it should be "to" but to keep in the spirit of the conversation I went with "too").
2 different people have told me this.

Minds aren't going to be changed

Bottom line is Caserio gets the guys the coaches want.

Didn't they pivot to Lovie at the 11th hour when it got leaked they wanted to go with never-been-a-coach-at-any-level McCown and were in the middle of a racial discrimination lawsuit? But Lovie wasn't going to take the job unless he got control over 1:3...

Right, I find the whole thing hard to believe. I mean it's a big pay raise in itself. Guaranteed. That's not enough to entice a person? How about being out of a job, not just you, but you & your son?

That type of demand requires leverage, and Lovie had none.
Exactly, the alternative was a guy who wanted Lovie gone. It's not like they didn't have anyone.

Cal: "Lovie, Jonathan Gannon is currently at the top of our list, but he wants you out. We'd rather you stay, for that to happen you need to take the job."

Lovie: "Nah, Cal, I'm not going to do that. Unless you meet these demands."

Cal: "So what you're telling me is you're out."

Cal wanted Lovie because of perception.

Firing Culley and the Discrimination lawsuit (Flores) gave the national media what they needed to call Cal a racist. (Never mind the McNair's hired and kept RS around much longer than they should have) I mean some on this MB called Cal racist (Shocker) Cal's answer to this BS was to hire Lovie. The R word is a Scarlet Letter in the NFL even if the accusations are false. Perception is everything and this lead to Lovie's hiring. Make no mistake Cal did the hiring.
