Texans random thought of the day

What do you think?
Everyone says Jets organization is a cesspool to float in. My bias and wanting slow it gone may be leading me to saying he would accept it. Would Jets use a day two pick for Ewers or Beck? Slow it would have something to work with.
I'm pleading he goes.. anywhere. That would also resolve Cap having to let his friend go.

Question, if he was asked would he accept the position?
Tough call, the Jets definitely need a QB and their WR room is just as bad as ours. Breece Hall, Garret Wilson and Sauce are all due new contracts after next season with Wilson and Sauce having a 5th year option. Plus, he definitely needs to sharpen his press interview skills to face the NY media...smart money says pass. If he wants to take a risk, I think the Jags would be a good start because if he fails no one will blame him with that leadership group they have:firehair:

Probably gets higher job security going to NY on a 2/3 year contract for more money than he has as Texans OC on a short 1 year leash.

If he’s offered it, he takes it imo, but I don’t think he’s going to be offered it, I think teams like to get a good look at what teams around the league are doing/running and their thought processes by inviting a few non-shortlisted coaches to interview for these jobs. I doubt Slowick is really shortlisted this season after seeing regression from a generational rookie QB, a highly drafted/FA $ OL that isn’t working, teams can’t see that and think that’s the man to lead my entire team.

How long have you been here? Do you remember Mike Vrabel as our DC? With Romeo in the building to help him. Do you remember how our defense played that year? Do you remember what happened to Mike Vrabel the following year?

Many people think he was a good HC, despite what his tenure as Houston's DC might suggest. They're saying he's going to get a HC job this year, a 2nd HC job. Not too many people get those.

Vrabel had the name as a previous player and “leader of men” aura about him because he was a leader as a player. Similar to DeMeco but without as long tenured/successful assistant coaching accolades.

And Vrabel was definitely a better HC than DC.

Vrabel a strange one, coached a really good LBers unit before being promoted to DC.

For my money, RAC’s defensive scheme a little outdated by that point and consistently unable to slow down the big hitting O’s in the league.

Defence regressed in the year Vrabel was DC, yet I wasn’t shocked he got the HC gig, he looked destined, and in fairness, he did a pretty good job for the Titans, AFCCG appearance and multiple playoff appearances despite never really getting the QB position sorted.

But Vrabel is a different proposition to Slowick, Vrabel was a leader on the field, and clearly a leader as coach regardless of his position. Not really someone I warmed to, particularly, and I remember being a bit relieved when the Titans hired him away from us, I thought we were painted into a corner with Cunningham and McKinney having similar faults in the middle of that D by the end and couldn’t match up with TEs if I remember correctly.

Vrabel is the example of a HC who can lead and stay out of the way of his coordinators. We’ll see how he does if he gets the go in New England.

I have mostly enjoyed Belichick’s commentary this season. But I think he was completely wrong about the Texans (said after the Ravens loss).

To summarize: The six games in their division don’t get you ready for playoff football like the AFC West for example.

Yes, the AFC West is the better division, but strength of schedule proves Houston played a tougher overall schedule. And I think the way they didn’t flinch when hit with early adversity while the Chargers (who feasted on an easier schedule) melted when met with adversity proves that.

This Texans team played a first place schedule. There have been only two games where they did not perform well against playoff teams. The rest of those teams were in a dog fight to the very end. These Texans are battle-tested!

Bill should also definitely not bring up an easy division when his Pats teams dominated one of the weakest divisions in the league for years (but still had to play tough teams with their first place schedule). The Jets, Bills and Dolphins were awful for the entirety of the Pats dynasty aside from
the random Rex Ryan Jets defense bump for a year or two.

Yeah, but he'right about the issues from last yr not really being rectified.

But Vrabel is a different proposition to Slowick,
The point is we're in different circles. We see crap on TV, in the news, social media as it concerns a fan. Owners run in different circles, they're privy to different conversations. They know these people in ways most of us never will. It doesn't happen often that a coordinator could have a bad season then get a head coach job, but Vrabel did.

Bobby Slowik has as much success today as Vrabel did before Vrabel got a HC position.

Slowik's thought of in a better light by people in NFL circles than the media and fans in Houston.

this trips me out... watched the Frank Ross DoND on YT. This was the ad that appeared before... Rex living in the multiverse.
(I too would've picked #12 first, Franklin)

As loud as the stadium will be against the Chiefs we should start a pool on how many false starts the Texans will get. Over or under 6. I say under but I'm probably just drinking to much kool-aid.

We could also go the other way with how many the Chiefs should get that won't be called.

the top-down leadership-and-humility inspired culture are the ambers that keep this campfire rocking... every player interview I've seen-- they're loose in a good way... relaxed, understanding they are professional athletes in rare times of playoffs, attitude of gratitude driven, unselfish and selfless while knowing they are elite... Cal/Hannah, Nick and more importantly coach Ryans (his staff), and previous Texans players are doing something pretty cool with this franchise... reminds me of those mid-late 2010's Astros teams.
*THIS* team at 100% wouldve fastpassed its way to the game in N.O.
*THIS* team as it is CAN have found eachother playing in N.O. in a month (health-wise, player availability)
Houston and out of town fans need to hype the hell outta these boys this week.
They have a legit opportunity to play 3 more games. Go all-in.

Jon Weeks is 10 regular season games away from breaking the NFL all time record for consecutive games for a long snapper. The record is 253 games, Weeks is at 244.
After Saturday he will be 5 games away from the record with playoffs included. Record - 262, Weeks will have 258 on Saturday.

When he retires at age 65, we need to spend a round one to replace him.
Pay the man! He is money!
