Texans random thought of the day

Dude, since you hate the Texans so much, why don't you go to some other teams message board?
Dude, if my post upset you so much why don't you use the ignore? Let me do you a favor by going first. It's not that I hate the Texans, to the contrary, I just don't like having smoke blown up my azz. You must enjoy the sensation? I also don't sanction mediocrity and incompetence. I'm going to let you in on a little secret before you go, as long as Cal and Janice McNair own the Houston Texans, they will continue to be a disappointment. Enjoy!

It is what it is. You can't change who the owners are by bitching about it.

I don't have to put you on ignore. I'll still read your posts in the draft threads, but I just mostly skip over them here. You bring value to the draft threads, but you bring very little value to the Texans discussions.

It doesn't mean you have to celebrate it. You're only fooling yourself when you do. I can't do it; I can only be honest about the situation. I refer you to post #634 in the "What Grade Did Caserio Get on Watson Trade". When I feel I can no longer have a meaningful conversation and it becomes a waste of time, I promote them to the Brigade.

Yeah? No, I'm not going to go back and check some other post. As I said before, the owners are who they are, and you can't change them by bitching about them. Do I think they are incompetent? Yes. Can I change them? No. Am I happy with what the Texans got back in the trade for Watson? Not really, but I am happy that he is gone, and we got something from it. 3 1st round picks is more than what I expected, so why should I be angry about it. I didn't expect the Texans to get anything, so 3 1st round picks is a bonus. Should we have gotten more? Yes, but I'm still happy it is over and done with. Why would I stress over it, it's not my team or money? I already have high blood pressure. If you keep letting things get to you like this, you are going to give yourself a heart attack. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should try and kill everyone else with your negativity.

The article calls the Texans a "receiver poor team", which is sad because I think receiver is probably the strongest position on the team
Talented, I agree. Conley & Dorsett just haven’t been productive throughout their career, so we’re hoping they do something they never have.

Or that Collins is a legit 1b/2 receiver.

Basically, we’ve got one bonafide starter.

I like the combo of Collins/Cooks. Gotta find a slot wr. Look at what Amendola did at the end of the year.

I think DT Akiem Hicks is still available.
Played well with Chicago but his big drawback is he is 32.
His positives are he can play on the edge or anywhere inside and has a lot of experience.
Offer him a 2 year deal team friendly deal.
He could be a real asset on a younger DL and I think he and Lovie had time together in Chicago.
Sheldon Richardson is also still available.
If Texans are serious about building the trenches and stuffing the run, then acquiring some proven stout defenders like Richardson or Hicks is a no-brainer. These two may cost us, but there is no waiting for a rookie to get up to speed either - and you save a draft pick.

With 11 picks in this draft and the ability to make more or trade up some of the lower rounds Texans can have an army of fresh young bucks prancing around the practice fields - a terrific shot in the arm for a rebuild.

The 2 high 4th's and the 3 6th's would allow Caserio to easily move into range to get another couple of top 100 picks.

Would you have a problem trading 107 and and 183 to move up into the top 100, plus trading 108 and 205/207 to move into the top 100 for another player? These are the type of realistic trades that can be done.

That would give you 7 top 100 picks in this draft and pick 245. This is an 8 pick foundational type draft that bodes well for the future. Caserio has gotta hit on the picks though.

To start with, I'd trade the back with the #3. The Giants will probably want Hamilton, and the Seahawks, Redskins, Panthers, or Falcons might want one of the QBs. If it all works out right, maybe we could trade back to #5 with the Gnats, and then trade the #5 back to one of the teams looking for a QB.

Completely depends on the player there for the taking or the player dropping. Deep draft could make this interesting.

If the right player is on the board later in RD1….I’d be willing to package WR, Cooks and a 2023 pick to move back into RD1 without giving up any of the 2022 draft assets.

Texans will need to get to 90 rostered players. With 11 picks they could be at 80 assuming the roster has settled at 69. 10 more UDFAs or FAs assuming no pick trades.
That's what I was thinking too.
I still wouldn't mind moving back with one of those top two and make another.
Less money needed for FAs. Yeah, you still have to pay for the rooks, but lower round guys are cheap.

Do you think he might be recovered from that by now?
I post this a while back..........the most recent study on the subject.

Return to Play Following Achilles Tendon Rupture in NFL Players Based on Position
Dane Barton 1, Aditya Manoharan 1, Ansab Khwaja 1, Jacob Sorenson 2, Michel Taylor 3
Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine the return-to-play (RTP) rate and postinjury performance after Achilles tendon (AT) ruptures in National Football League (NFL) skill position players.

Methods: The study included NFL skill positions with an AT rupture between the 2009-2010 and 2015-2016 seasons. Performance data were collected and compared against a matched control group. RTP was defined as playing in at least 1 game after repair.

Results: RTP rate was 57% for the study cohort.
The tight ends (TEs) had the highest RTP rate at 71% while the wide receivers (WRs) had the lowest RTP rate at 38%. Compared with the control group, WRs with successful RTP had significantly less receptions per game (P = .01). For defensive players with RTP there were significant decreases in postrepair performance in tackles, passes defended, and fumbles forced/recovered compared with the control group.

Conclusion: A total of 57% of players achieved RTP with WRs and running backs (RBs) having the lowest RTP rates and TEs and linebackers (LBs) having the highest RTP rates. RBs, defensive backs (DBs), and LBs with successful RTP had decreased performance in all categories. This updated information may be helpful for athletes, physicians, scouts, and coaches in evaluating players with a history of AT rupture.

It has be found in another study that some players that returned did show improvement of performance after the 1st season back.

The Texans have signed LB Jaylen Reeves-Maybin to a two-year
Yahoo Sports

Reeves-Maybin is coming off his best season, finishing with 82 tackles, four pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 15 games. He started 11 of those games, and his leadership was praised by first-year Lions coach Dan Campbell

Sounds like another KGH

Also, another RB arrived named Johnathan Taylor.
That "arrival" in the 2020 Draft was a prelude to what was going to happen. Because Mack was not progressing well after his Sept 2020 ruptured Achilles.......in the 2021 offseason throughout, he never participated. He then was not effective in practices when he returned, thus losing any chance as primary back to Taylor. During the sparing 5 appearances he made at the very beginning of the 2021 season, it was obvious that he was very ineffective. If he has any chance of having improved, it will be happening this season (a season after a first season back.........see my post above). But it is unpredictable. If he can be gotten on the cheap, it may be worth a look see.

I thought I heard Reich say that he would've liked to have seen Mack play last yr, but Taylor was tearing it up and Hines was entrenched as their 3rd down RB.

Anybody here know how the workout went today?

Ever known such a difference in opinion on a player, Year 4 and some think he could be a franchise LT while others think he’s a backup Guard.

Some think he needs to be moved for draft capital. He's looking very busty to me. He's an avg OT and a below avg OG, that can't stay healthy.

Wow now we’re calling him a bust. Went from dragging him because he played for a small school in college. How in the world is he a bust now. When we don’t like a player, there’s no length we will go to tear them down.
Well buddy the GM or the coaches does not agree with you and neither does I.
