Texans random thought of the day

Stingley is a bad boy.
Yes sir! I've mocked him to Texans after Watson trade and Thibodaux with our own round one. Here is info for those interested:

And most recent Obergeron interested in Stingley as WR:

That was a bizarre season. Coming off of 35-3, they started 1-4 and then won 11 in a row. Buddy Ryan punching Kevin Gilbride during the last game (I was at that game but we didn't hear about the punch until talk radio on the way home), the Jeff Alm suicide, "Babygate", and then the ending in the playoffs with this game (basically Cool Joe beating Buddy Ryan's defense in the 4th quarter. The Oilers had beaten the Chiefs 33-0 earlier that season).

That season, and the way it ended (they were a #2 seed that year), was probably the final nail in the coffin for Oilers fans.
The announcement of leaving for TN was my final nail.

I’ll leave you with this image though!

From the article: "The fact that they have to use their highest draft pick on the only position they had figured out ... well that's just the cherry on top of a melted sundae."

I don't think it's just the sundae that's melted. LOL
Screw that article. thats On DW alone, not the Texans.

Every team is better than the Texans in some of these members eyes. I’m still laughing about the 1-15 Jaguars and 1-15 Jets are better.
Why does it even matter what others think? Think what you want to think. I'm just not sure why you would care if the Texans are the worst, or only the 3rd worst. They aren't winning the Super Bowl. Or making the playoffs. Why does this matter to you?

I know some guys want that #1 overall pick & see the team through that lense. Not saying that about @Lucky in particular, but some guys are rooting for it.

I don’t know how bad/good this team is going to be. I wanted to gut the team. Pinch pennies, & trade as many picks as we could for future picks.

That would have been my idea of a tank job. All I ever said, is Caserio doesn’t appear to be on the same page. I don’t know if he thinks he might compete for a wildcard, but he’s not planning on losing a bunch of games.

If they do, I’ll be right there with Texian & whoever else down on Caserio.

I just thought it was funny somebody out there didn’t think the Texans we’re the worst team in the league

Most teams ARE better than the Texans. The few that aren't you don't need a full hand of fingers to count them. The Texans most assuredly will have a top five draft pick next year.

I actually think Caserio IS on that page. He did not to improve the roster in any significant way. Short or long term. He's squandered draft choices. He's rarely hit the waiver wire, even though the Texans are #3 in waiver claim position.

What Caserio did do is look busy. Shuffle the deck. Acquire players with little impact. I believe he did this for an audience of one. To make a certain someone think the Texans are working hard to get better. When the opposite is true. Caserio is an undercover tanker. He's doing the right thing, but in a disjointed, dysfunctional way to please a moron that will never understand this league.

I criticize Nick because he should do this rebuild in an honest, straight forward way. Getting worse is how this team gets better. I am certain Caserio knows this. Some don't, and will never get it.

Perhaps your lense needs a bifocal? How do teach a team to tank? even if you gut the team you will still have 53 professional football players and coaches out there. So you get a couple or so high draft choices the next year. They will be surrounded with 40+ players you said are roster pluggers. Then at that point do you teach them to be instantaneous nfl football players? I believe that process starts yesterday. LikeCampen said recently, and paraphrasing, we teach them the attitudes and skills and then I don’t care what round they are drafted in. You don’t build a house starting with the third story. Gotta lay that foundation first and IMO that has to be the goal of the Texans this year.

Now we care about someone’s power rankings all of a sudden? And nobody noticed the Texans dropped 3 spots to 31 in those meaningless rankings?

Yea!! Somebody thinks we’re not as bad as the ******* Detroit Lions. Moving on up, baby!!!

Yeah the lions will probably beat the texans out of the number one pick just like the pistons beat out the rockets!

They're going to lose next yr and that will be no reflection on Caserio. Caserio is just cleaning up the mess.

Agreed

But there's a difference between keeping leaders to show the young guys (Something I'm a proponent of) and just flat out stripping the team of all starters to tank.

Dont worry though, you most likely will get your wish, the Texans will suck next yr.

He's going about it in a funny way. With all the restructuring he's done, we should be carrying over $20MM, but we're not, because he's already spent it all.

Most of the contracts he's signed guys to are 1-2 yr deals. There should be plenty of cap space in 2022 and particularly in 2023 when most of the contracts will be off of the books and with the new tv deal the cap will be going up quite a bit. Plus the Pervert will be off of the books.

I understand that. But there should be more money if he’d have spent the money he freed up differently.

But they rank 6th in the FBS rankings, which would make the Texans eligible for the prestigious Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
Easterby is probably on the board of Chick Fil A and making sure this happens. They could have Jesus handing out peaches, that would be nice. :)

They have Tunsil and the Texans on here.
Two of the worst trades in the history of the NFL - Tunsil and Hopkins - made under the "watchful" eye of one person is the reason I question everything this ownership has done since. Except, of course, firing O'Brien.

And even then I don't give Cal a pass because he's the dolt that gave O'Brien god powers within the organization to begin with.

Easily one of, if not THE, worst owner in the NFL. He honestly makes it terribly hard to care about this franchise in any way.

I still think the osweiler, clowney, and brown trades were worse then Tunsil ,but it's really just a I say potato, you say potato conversation.

G'damn this team has sucked.

This team has done some stupid stuff, but they’ve been the best team in the AFCSouth over the last decade.

True, the AFCSouth hasn’t been as competitive as the AFCEast, or NFCEast... but it’s what we’ve got.

I was lucky enough to own season tickets from 2006 to 2016 & it feels like 90% of those games were extremely entertaining. Win or lose, they were entertaining & I enjoyed being there.

regardless, I’m optimistic on the direction the team is going. I hate that we had to go 0-6 before a HC got fired. He was supposed to take a play off team & make them SB contenders. I’d have fired him after the first embarrassing 1 & done season.

But... bygones. We’re past that. We’re the third best team in a 4 team division. That’s what I’m judging Caserio & his minions on. If we’re the worst team in the division after 2021, I’ll be upset & probably turn negative.

I understand he’s been dealt a bad hand, but I knew that, he knew that when I hired him.

It's a question of how bad?

Sure, we were the third worst team in the league in 2020. But the worst team in the league is also in our division.

I'd be upset with Caserio's approach to this offseason if we end up being the worst team in our division in 2021. That could be accomplished spending a lot less money, better use of draft picks, & without pushing debt into the future.

I expect the Texans to have the worst record in the NFL. This opinion is based on where they finished last season and gains/loses in personnel.

I expect them to rank between 28 and 32 in every major category including, but not limited to points scored, points allowed, turnovers forced, time of possession, receiving yards, passing yards allowed, rushing yards allowed, points per game.

I expect the game plan will be to play ball control football but the defense will be so bad that that game plan will be tossed out the window early in most games. I expect to see a Bill O'Brien type of plain vanilla offense pre-Watson. That worked ok, not great when they had a very good defense but they don't have that anymore.

It wouldn't bother me if Caserio was picking 1-1 in the 2022 draft.

Do I want to see this happen? from an entertainment standpoint nope.

It is not a matter of bothering me. If we end up with the first overall pick then I have to question the trades, the restructuring, & the contracts he’s giving out. We can get the 1-1 with 39 UDFAs on the roster.

Caserio's big free agent acquisition on defense was Shaq Lawson. But he also resigned Vernon Hargreaves. Those two transactions are a fair representation of the shell game Caserio played in the offseason. Look at this but don't look at that. With the flurry of Caserio's hands Kyle had no idea what was going on but I'm sure he was impressed.

If the Texans end up with the 1st pick in the 2022 draft there is a 50% chance of Nick Caserio trading it away.

Yep, he will or will not, maybe trade it. He might even flip coin. I even suggested it with trading DW to Lions for 1.2 + 1.29 plus Sewell and Okudah.
I would take their round two over Okudah

Turn what? :um:

You've been predicting a lost decade for years. It doesn't get more pessimistic than that.

btw, I'm not belittling your prediction. I tend to agree with it, especially with Cal and his sidekick in charge.

And of the 50% chance they use the pick, there's a 50% chance that it'll be a bust. The franchise's history with 1.1 picks is unimpressive to say the least.

There’s a new sheriff in town. Let’s see how he gets down first. I believe he picked a few sleepers in this years draft.

I highly doubt they trade the overall number one pick, if we do get it. Especially if we some how some way we land a few more draft picks for the numbnut Watson.
