Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

Scruggs at OC Deiter to LG and Howard to RT vs Jags? I would think that it would be too soon for Scruggs but I would not be shocked.
Edit: Whoops just noticed that this is the transaction thread and not the transaction discussion thread. Mods will move.

Tunsil to RT????

Scruggs activated off IR. Wallow cut.

Desmond King and Steven Sims PS elevations.
I’m a little confused on the Scruggs activation. If he is already slotted to start this week I wonder why he wasn’t practicing earlier than Wednesday if I’m understanding the three week rule correctly?

I would not expect him to start. Bobby likes OL continuity. If anything, they rotate him in for some snaps. Stingley on return was also rotational, and they said it would be unfair to just pop him out there. TBH, I kind of hope they leave the line alone this week if no injuries happen, big game, and they have been doing ok. Going forward, rotate him in in and see what we got.

Yeh, it's surprising the Texans haven't been taking advantage of this. Also, it was reported that Scruggs was in as LG on the first unit on Wednesday. But I haven't heard anything about Thursday or Friday practice. I also don't expect Scruggs to start, but you just don't know. These current Texans are playing by their own rules. I do hope Juice gets in on a few plays.

Did everyone hear about that wobbly td pass to Schultz last week, that Stroud was irritated over. The ball was wet from Deiter sweating too profusely.

I am as well. They did the same with Stingley. Put him right into a game with a week of practice, albeit in a limited role. I suspect in the case of both these are moves driven by injuries and lack of available personnel. The team doesn’t have the luxury to not suit them up if they feel they are healthy enough to play. Even in a limited role ramping them up to game shape they are better than the available options on the roster.

Yeah I guess the only other thing I can think of is if they let them start practicing too early and they aren’t ready they are lost for the season after three weeks?

Yeah, saw that, I use to be interested in bring him on board. Not so sure now but shouldn't cost much too find out. Injuries seem to be his undoing.

I think it’s at least worth a shot to see if he can help our pass rush. We were nonexistent against the Jags.

For context only:
Feb 19th 2018: Inguinal Hernia surgery

Sept 30 2018: Shoulder Rotator cuff tear missed 1 game

Oct 21 2018: re-injured and had surgery missed 9 games Nov 24 2019 Pedal ankle sprain grade 2 missed 2 games

Sept 9 2020: hamstring available next game

Sept 11 2020: knee ACL
2022 missed almost all year with ACL in opener vs Detroit

Dude has talent, interesting to see what he has left in the tank after all those injuries. Only 27 still, and relatively cheap experiment to find out. Can't see much downside to this.

Texans could use the DE depth with Horton out for an undetermined period of time. Doesn’t have the length DeMeco normally looks for but a former 1st round pick who was massively productive in the SEC.

This is what I posted about Barnett Friday in the NFL random thought thread. I am excited the team continues looking for ways to improve. Hopefully Barnett can provide some juice to the pass rush with a change of scenery.

Shaq Griffin cut and I guess that is because Nelson & Stingley are now healthy on the outside and Thomas & King they like at nickel. Seems like he did a decent job when needed and not an easy decision to move on from?

Interesting that Marcus Peters is available now, but he hasn’t been good this season by all accounts.

Would have been interested to see Shaq on the fied versus Tavieere Thomas
Shaq's plays outside and Thomas plays in the slot. What I wonder is could Nelson play in the slot and Griffin play outside? Guess we will never know, Griffin was obviously in Ryans doghouse.

I'd rather keep our best corner on the outside personally.

Stingley is better than Nelson, although Nelson has been pretty solid this yr. Thomas hasn't been as good this yr as last yr.
Slot corner is notorious for being a position that's tough to be consistently good at year to year.

Also I feel like availability is the best ability plus Nelson has been stellar and I can't say there's been a time I'd rate Stingley over him even if I like Stingley.

Does this guy have a health or attitude problem?

Probably it's that he's just a fringe NFL player.

I’m thinking he has an attitude problem. Dude was pretty good at LSU.
