Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

LZ’s comp was Arden Key when he was drafted. Coincidentally, Key was a bust with the team that drafted him and then spent a year in DeMeco’s defense to have a career year and get paid in Free Agency.

Sanders will be under a rookie contract for three years. Lets hope DeMeco’s defense can do wonders for him and the team can basically hit on a 3rd round pick for free.
I like this move in a variety of ways. It's a no risk, reward move. Greenard is a free agent after the season, Hughes is getting older. I mean we've seen a guy like Hasaan Reddick be a nobody until his 4th yr and even after 12 sacks, had to play on a 1 yr prove it deal before he blossomed for the Eagles. Good move and he has real talent and athletic ability.

I'm thinking he could develop to play across from WA and replace Christian Harris when he comes out.

Believe I mocked RB- Zander Horvath (Dolphins) to the Texans as a late round option. Zander is a 6-3 @ 230 lb big back with good hands. I’d be curious to know how he does in pass blocking. Could be an interesting FB or hybrid TE.

Does anyone know how much it costs the Texans every time they sign, then cut, then re- sign the same player a la Rivers, Ross, etc.. These guys seem like they’re yo yos.. Thanks for any input.

This type player it's minimal. You can get some info on overthecap.com by looking at section dead money.

It feels like the moves meant someone was signed from the PS to the active roster but it doesn't appear to be the case.
The new kicker was signed to PS. The talk on 610 is that he would be elevated if needed, not signed to 53. PS players are eligible to 3 elevations before they have to be signed.

What I meant by my comment was more a math thing

53 went -2 with 2 guys put on IR
53 then went +1 by re-signing Grayland Arnold

Practice Squad went -1 by releasing Lecitus Smith
Practice Squad then went +2 by signing Breeze and Ammendola

So to my math that looks like the practice squad is over by 1 and the 53 is down by 1 so I felt like someone moved from the practice squad to the 53 because that would make the numbers actually balance. Was Grayland Arnold on the practice squad, because then those numbers make slightly more sense.

You get what I'm saying?

Glad to see Juice back...interesting that they have him at LG...especially with Patterson going down. Also on a side note....and dont roast me....but WHAT IN THE HELL IS A JAG??? Ive read it a few times and thought it meant they were former Jags players...which in the 1st case he actually was...but not so much for the 100 other times Ive read it.....thanks in advance. LOL

JAG == Just A Guy. A player who isn't particularly good, easily replaceable with another guy who's just a guy.

Yup just a guy. I mean anyone at this level is good compared to the overall college pool. It takes a ton of work and good athletic ability to make it to the NFL, even as a backup/ST type. But in the universe of “the best of the best” that is the NFL…they don’t bring anything unique or special to the table. A worker bee type. You need Jag’s on every team to be role players, but these are guys that get churned through and generally have shorter careers. Although a few jags via really hard work can break through and become a key piece.

Mental health wasn’t a major issue back then to the masses. Even though there were cases of it and I’m sure plenty people had it. It’s an awareness now and it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Let’s not be insensitive
It wasn’t an issue because we had psychiatric institutions all over. They’re all but virtually gone now. So they’ve spilled over into the streets and our homes.

Back in the 70-80's did players take mental health leave of absences? SMH

“Mental Health” is a broad term used as a crutch sometimes that could be anything. He could be under extortion from family, friends or an IG girl. He could have severe anxiety. He could have a failed drug test coming up.

One thing we do know is mental health is a serious issue with today’s yutes and we can see it in the correlation of the popularity of social media and number of teen suicides.

You’re generation may have only had to worry about walking to school in the snow up hill both ways. The harm social media is doing continues to be underestimated and not taken seriously enough. All you have to do is look at the young people today.

Right. But there are those in that era that have committed suicide.

You are one of a kind. Not really. I just wish you were.
Back at you

I'm pretty comfortable with myself. I do have empathy for those in dispair.
