Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

I think PEDs are a 6 game suspension. Here are the substance of abuse drugs that are tested for.
For a first PEDs violation, a player can be suspended for 2, 4, 6 or 8 games depending on the substance that triggered the positive test............................then 10 games to 17 games for a second offense.

Huh? Explain please?
Adderall helps with concentration so usually positions like corner or safety that really need you to be locked in to what your reads and what exactly your opposition like receivers are doing is someone who will benefit more from its use.

When adderall was getting used excessively around 10 or so years ago it was mostly corners who were using it a lot. Honestly last I heard plenty are still using it they just often have a doctor that can give them an ADHD diagnosis to support it - Although I'd remain skeptical on the legitimacy and that's coming from someone with ADHD.

I don't take adderall though, I take vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). So one of the actual PHDs on this board might be able to explain it better.

Vyvanse is the generic for viagra.

I am not a PHD but stayed at a holiday inn express once.

Glad to get something for him. Pierce showed why he’s RB2 with that 54 yard td run. Just didn’t see that upside from Akers when he had his opportunities. Plus Dare is the reliable back, no fit for Akers with a healthy RB room.

I'm still not sold on Pierce. I'm gonna need to see some consistency from him.

Don't honestly love the move. Would rather have the depth than a conditional 6th two years from now, but can't really hate it either.

Comes down to bodies as well.

Activating Hinish from IR. Need a roster spot. Got numbers at RB and WR.

We thought Sims was a logical cut at WR, but the injuries to Nico/Woods makes keeping Sims more important. Plus I doubt a team would trade the Texans anything for Sims, whereas they found a partner for Akers.

Yea that's a good reason

Without an injury we will need to cut down at DT at some point though. Not sure who because I actually really like this group but we can't really justify having more than 4 guys at position that doesn't really play special teams.

Maybe Autry plays more edge than in the past but I still see him as a DT who can play edge here or there rather than the other way around.

Personally I'd actually cut Hinish and maybe they will, but activating him now does make some sense. Although hopefully we don't want that IR activation later like we did last season. We're almost guaranteed to be burning 2 more on Nico and Christian Harris.

Sims was the obvious guy…well until Nico went out, Woods got banged up, etc. so they look around and right now he is 4th in the pecking order..amd he is expendable. Such is life.

From Akers side…I’d like it. Going to a team on a roll, and without a Joe Mixon. His load may increase there.

Yeah I think it's really only a matter of time before Sims is cut.

His position on the team was tenuous at best and he's not showing anything of real value as a returner (in fact I'd say Woods and Dell have easily been better) and he's had his fair share of gaffs (muffed punt, extremely stupid penalty, etc.). So far he's been a net negative and there's not really even any flash there in the return game to justify keeping him around much longer.

I see Sims providing more value to this team than Metchie. I would offer Metchie for trade bait to see if we can get anything for him - but I doubt there would be any takers.

I'm not a PHD, but having been an FDA investigator for so many years, many studies regarding this comparison has crossed my desk. I'll to give you a simple breakdown of the important basic take-aways.

Vyvanse is 100% pure d-amphetamine, while Adderall is composed of 4 d- amphetamine (~75%) and l- amphetamine (~25%). D- amphetamine is more effective at reducing hyperactivity and impulsiveness. L-amphetamine is better at improving concentration but tends to increase symptoms of anxiety and insomnia........something that ADHD patients have difficulties with to begin with.

Both of these stimulant drugs, especially in athletes, have significant cardiac implications. They both increase risk of heart arrhythmias, increase heart rate and blood pressure. Studies have consistently shown increased risk for heart attacks and strokes, especially when taken for 5 years or more. In a football player, the cardiac system is often already stressed to the max without adding a stimulant factor to the equation.

The team has finally identified that Lassiter had sustained a scapular (shoulder blade) fracture which will not require surgery. They are reporting that " he is expected to sideline him at least a few more games." The truth of the matter is that a player that has sustained a scapula fracture (even a stress fracture) that does not require surgery typically will not be able to return to contact sports safely before 6-8 weeks.............and sometimes up to 12 weeks. Aggressive return to activity too early can easily result in re-fracture.
Do we know the play the injury occurred?

Unfortunately injuries may take care of this situation.

Wonder if a team like the Browns would do a Metchie and a 4th that can become a 3rd for Newsome?

I've taken vyvanse once before, wont do that again, didn't like how it made me feel the next day. If you want to get a bunch of housework done then vyvanse should be your drug of choice.

How much of a contribution are we expecting from Autrey ?
I guess there's not more buzz about him because of his age, but the thing is he has gotten more productive in recent years as he's gotten older.

I'm expecting plenty of rust. The guy basically didn't play in preseason and I'd be surprised to see someone miss this amount of time and be able to come out flying.

I just hope he's fit enough to play without substantial exposure to injury.
Anything beyond that is pure gravy.
In a couple weeks or so we might see some real production

I wasn't even thinking injury wise. He should be plenty fit with all this time off and it's not like a situation where he's coming back from an injury and there's a risk of re-injury.

Demeco also heavily rotates those guys anyway so even from a having not played perspective I'm not worried about injury at all really.

Looked like a normal play.

He didn't even react like he was hurt.

Guess he landed exactly the wrong way. ..
He landed mostly on the right back side of his shoulder, If you noticed when he called for the facemask penalty, he grabbed his mask with his left hand, while he kept his right hand to his side. Lassiter is right-handed. Continued game film showed that he continued to keep his right arm to the side going off the field.

Autry won't be in anything close to football shape, so there's a significant injury risk. He's essentially going from the couch to full contact football with a week of in-season practice.

The Houston Texans were granted a one-game roster exemption for Denico Autry after he was reinstated from the Reserve/Suspended list.

Does anyone know what this means? Maybe he doesn't count against the 53?
