And he isn't even from the Patriots.I don’t understand this trade either. Makes no sense, especially when it’s a very high chance he won’t make the team.

That is not what was said. They’re all doing their jobs. And Caserio the GM is doing his job.I thought Lovie was making the personnel calls?
If healthy (Doubtful) I bet he makes the team.

I already spent his cap savings if cut $5.4 m. If he is worth this deal we could have traded for a round 6 and saved the same. This is on you Lovie.![]()

Not a fan, but it's 2 years $10M, so it's only $5M/yr. Halfof hat Teid is getting in KC.If they wanna keep him fine (don't start him please) but 10m sounds like 4-5m to much.
Remember the salary cap that won't be important until 2023?Unimpressed with FA pickups so far.
Running it back and signing Cann is very uninspiring.

Without those FA dollars (that he wasted) we couldn't expect more.Agreed,
But it looks like they are tanking.
Running back a 4-13 team unfortunately speaks volumes.
I would've thought they might have tried to upgrade the talent level a little bit with different cheap fa's instead of running it back. You can't find new talent like Caserio did last year operating this way. I was hoping for 2-3 cheap fa finds. I guess the bright side is it's still early in fa.
The big one is Pharaoh Brown.Without those FA dollars (that he wasted) we couldn't expect more.
He brought a bunch of guys last year on one year deals. He's bringing back the ones who can play & fit the culture.
Desmond King, you wanted him back right? Malik Collins, you wanted him back?
Who did they resign that you didn't want?
Surely you have to expect one or two guys you particularly didn't like.
Besides... he's got to fill out that 90 man roster, create competition& some of the guys we don't like may not make it through this time.
I
I've mentioned a few names before. There are some good young runners available in the free agency who will be cheap for 2 years. Both of TB backs as well as Foreman who was here before. The Texans can probably get those guys for 2 yrs at 4m per year and you still can draft a young back. Buckhead can be your 3rd down / fill in dude.
Pep must have been running the show last season
Why? Because of the penalties? This is fixable. In last years training camp, Brown showed a lot of promise as a big three downer who could block as well as catch. He fell off during the season and had the problem with the penalties. But Pep and the coaching staff must have seen enough in their evaluation to give him another chance. Pep's offense requires this kind of TE and we'll likely draft one as well. If we trade with Atlanta, we'll try to get Pitts but Atlanta may not give him up. This is a good signing. The big one is Pharaoh Brown.
Yeah I am disappointed they let Martin get away.![]()
Jets will sign Jacob Martin
The Jets have been active in the early days of free agency and their moves now include the addition of a pass rusher to their defense.profootballtalk.nbcsports.com
Don't know how many former Texans have been signed yet
I really hate to see this but it sure as hell tells you where this draft is headed.Yeah I am disappointed they let Martin get away.

The Texans have lost 3 FAs that would qualify for compensatory picks.![]()

Are you ok with the run it back philosophy and if so why?
No. I'm not. That's why I & several others have been saying Nick has been too fast & loose with his future FA dollars. Are you ok with the run it back philosophy and if so why?
Agreed,

Factor to consider with all these lower level, contracts/players Nick has signed, two years in a row is he would have to pay premium contracts for players to come here. On flip side is Jacksonville. They are overspending to field better free agents, paying out the nose. It’s just good business to spend fair value even if it hurts now, will payoff in the future.
Speaking of the future, the draft is where it’s at for Texans and Caserio. Should have a butt load of top 100 picks this year and next. That’s what we can look forward too![]()
We hope. So far he hasn’t compromised the future cap. & should be freeing up a shton as soon as they trade Watson. Hopefully he doesn’t spend it all too freely this season & he can carry something over next season & really be aggressive from jump. It’s just good business to spend fair value even if it hurts now, will payoff in the future.

You keep saying cap space don't mean anything until 2023. Right now, we're seeing that's not exactly true. It's affecting the team now.
You act as if they've re-signed every single FA from last season.
As far as I know, they've only signed a small percentage of a fairly large group.
Feels like you're premature on the run it back angle to me.
Cann is the only new guy they've brought in. That's very different than what Caserio did last yr. It's early in fa so I hope I'm being premature.

edit: spotrac three year 20.25 m and 10.75 GTD
Eric Murray is the only guy I don't like that they brought back. I do expect them to bring in more guys like KGH (I'm disappointed he hasn't been brought back yet). They're going to bring another 20 guys in.Cann is the only new guy they've brought in. That's very different than what Caserio did last yr. It's early in fa so I hope I'm being premature.
Hopefully you're right.I might be wrong but I feel like he's waiting for the Watson situation to finalize before making any significant moves.
And by significant, I mean starter level free agents.
I'm not expecting any major splashes this year, which I'm sure is an opinion most of us share.
.Brown is the kind of player that's just good enough to make you lose. If they couldn't fix what was wrong with him in his first 3 years in the league I doubt these problems will be fixed next year. Why? Because of the penalties? This is fixable. Yawn! Good hands and blocking ability. Special teamer and back-up at best.
He's only had one good year... his first here..Brown is the kind of players that's just good enough to make you lose. If they couldn't fix what was wrong with him in his first 3 years in the league I doubt these problems will be fixed next year.
