Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

Buzbee said himself his clients were not going to settle because of the NDA. So Florio is getting his information from team Watson. Florio doesn’t even mention what the holdouts were exactly. Lol

I would have thought the names of who wanted to settle and those who did not would be confidential.

I still don't get the timeline. Even prepandemic the proceedings were incredibly slow. The warrants were signed in October and are just now being acted on?

I'll never get that. Whatever. Not my branch.

The court system moves very slow in Houston. Very slow.

From the chronicle article:

When she pulled away, he grabbed the woman with his legs and slid her toward him. He then grabbed her head and pulled her face down — “trying to make her perform oral sex on him,” the investigator added.
Still his word versus hers correct or has something been found in those searches of media? I haven't seen or heard anything that convicts him.

Yeah but that’s not the problem. 18 women were not willing to settle.
Oh I get that but you and others have adamantly stated IIRC that evidence is not leaked yet we seem to have leaks saying what PD may be charging him with ..misdemeanors.

In addition to a grand jury charging him with possible felonies. Won’t hear about felony charges until the grand jury indicts.

The article actually said 18 women would settle and 4 would not. I'm not concerned much with misdemeanors. In the grand scheme of things that's not much. Ask anyone whose been the victim of a felony - including me - and you'll find misdemeanors don't garner much attention because felonies don't seem to garner much attention either.

Just a backstory on me personally, my house was robbed in 2012. The 3 guys who did it were caught red-handed. State jail felony. 2 bonded out in less then 3 days. The last bonded out in less then 2 weeks. They never served more time after guilty convictions because they all got differed adjudication.

I lock em up. They (the court system) send them back out. Dw hasn't even been convicted yet so he doesn't deserve to be treated as a felon. If he is convicted though, expect some trivial punishment like community service. It's likely the nfl will hand out the worst actual punishment suspending him for all of 22 ,and hurting our franchise more then the courts hurt him personally.

Here's what I also get: gold diggers are real and everyone wants a piece of the rich celebrity. I spent a lot of my early years around cops who investigated claims against your childhood heros. Bagwell, Biggio, Moon, etc. I spent time with cops who regularly pulled them over drunk and speeding - then escorted them home. I spent time with guys pouring over reports of indecent behavior.

And you never heard about it because it's usually a cash grab.

Let the process - however stupidly slow it may be - play out.

I hate to think you want dw to be guilty because of your assessment of him on the field? That would be f'ed up.

Those guys weren't my sports heroes.

My sports heroes were Staubach/Brodie/O.J./ Campbell/ Payton/ Rice etc...

I want to hope I'm wrong , but it's not looking good for Derrick and that has nothing to do with what I want. What I want is for justice to be served and I dont care if it goes to trial in 2023.

This is what you get in the world we live in today.

Slow playing

You did little to reference the post you quoted.

He hasn't been convicted yet. Are you willing to accept he might be innocent?

Yes, I'm willing to accept he may not be convicted of what he's accused of.

Still I have no doubt he's a sexual predator.

Try reading your post again.

You have 1 agenda. Your post is bs and I expect better.

I quoted this just so it was locked in for eternity.
I agree with steelbtexan. He may not be convicted but I’m convinced he acted inappropriately. I’ll be very disappointed if he’s not convicted beyond a misdemeanor.

you on the other hand have some misguided notion the legal system establishes truth. It does not. When the trials are done, all we’ll know is that one side was able to “prove” their case.

My post meant exactly what I meant it to mean.

If he beats the rap, I'm quite sure he will be out there stalking again soon. I mean he was stalking after he knew complaints were going to be filled against him.

Glad to see you're comfortable with this and might I add this is what the true BS is.

Not misguided and not naive. Considering my profession it's a mindset I have to have and one you should want me to have.

Agreed, those thinking Watson is going to do hard jail time just look at the current restrictions on him. Anyone else even accused of this would have most likely been arrested and be out on bail with police monitoring their movements. Watson is vacationing in Europe, flat out leaving the country.

Yeah if he is charged and convicted I dont see any jail time and the NFL will use that as an excuse to go light as well because he's to talent a player in the most important position in all of football.

This is an abruptly ignorant statement and I'd hope you knew me better then that after posting on the same forum for a decade plus.

This is an incorrect line of thinking. Most sexual assault cases go unreported. So tell me, by the current circumstances what tells you that Watson isn’t going to prison? Don’t use the fact that he hasn’t been charged yet. You have three different agencies investigating him

Watson could very well be facing charges including Trafficking of person, Sexual Assault, and or Aggravated Sexual Assault

You can’t be this naive, no one was even looking into this before the 20+ women law suit and even then half the time it’s just been lip service. It was only when the number and noise got to big to ignore that the police and DA started looking at it. Also I didn’t mention a thing about him being charged yet or not and was talking about what kind of punishment he would face.

You want to know what current circumstances tell me he isn’t going to jail? Ok the tell me if a regular person was accused by 20+ women would the police be ok with them leaving the country? The fact that most cases go unreported has absolutely ZERO to do with the fact Watson is a famous athlete in his prime in a country obsessed with athletes and celebrities. Whether he’s guilty or not doesn’t have much to do with his sentence.

Cosby flat used date rape drugs and still got away with it for decades, Weinstein was accused by pretty much every female he had worked with, including other famous people, and got away with it for decades.

Watson is being accused by normal, everyday women working in a profession that, even the completely legit ones, were the origin of the idea of the “happy ending”. It doesn’t excuse it, it doesn’t make it right but if you think the rules are the same for Watson vs me or you then you might want to stop living in a fantasy world before reality bites you.

Yep, the rules are definitely different.

We would be in jail instead of in Europe.

The rest of the post I see this way. If there's any justice charges will be filed and after that what happens will depend on the judge that gets the case.

If federal charges are brought, he will be doing some amount of jail time. I can't wait to see how all of this turns out.

That’s incorrect. Police reports were filed last year, in 2020. So it was being looked into.

You need to stop watching those fantasy cop tv shows because that’s not how it works in real life. Watson still has rights, he hasn’t been charged yet so even if the police advised him not to leave town they could not enforce it because that would be up to a judge to impose travel restrictions and confiscate his passport if need be. Watson being told not to travel, or to get permission to travel will come once he is charged.

Also you contradicted your own point. Cosby got away with it for decades and still went to prison.

The only reason this wasn't quietly squashed as usual is because Buzbee is a grand-standing weasel.

Why would you want this squashed.

You dont want justice for these women?

A lawyer doing his best to represent his clients is now a weasel? OK

Trafficking is notoriously difficult to prove, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. The last notable (Federal) conviction was the whole NXIVM thing. And that only stuck because the cult leader's top lieutenants all flipped on him to get their racketeering charges reduced.

Oh yeah so if I was accused by 20 women of sexual assault the police would just quietly investigate it and I could go about my daily life including a spur of the moment trip out of the country.

Oh wait no that wouldn’t of happened as I would have been detained, if not full on arrested on suspension of rape and most likely would have to be out on bail which means no I can’t leave the country.

But sure keep telling yourself that the legal system works under the same rules for a multi-millionaire, famous athlete vs a run of the mill joe six pack. Not sure who you are trying to sell that to but it’s not anyone over 30 chief.

Steel you’ve got to with this crap, just because someone doesn’t believe that Watson will do any jail time or that DA would want it squashed or that the police would prefer not to investigate it doesn’t mean that they don’t want justice.

You’re acting like the legal system is there to give justice, and I know you are smarter and wiser than that, it’s there to enforce the law. Sometimes the two things run parallel but when the rich and famous are involved they often don’t.

No one anywhere has said they don’t want justice or they want this squashed. They, including myself, just see it as the most likely outcome based on real world experience.

No I don’t think it would be difficult. Here is the statute on it in Texas:

CHAPTER 20A. TRAFFICKING OF PERSONS
1-a) "Coercion" as defined by Section 1.07 includes:
(A) destroying, concealing, confiscating, or withholding from a trafficked person, or threatening to destroy, conceal, confiscate, or withhold from a trafficked person, the person's actual or purported:
(i) government records; or
(ii) identifying information or documents;
(B) causing a trafficked person, without the person's consent, to become intoxicated, as defined by Section 49.01, to a degree that impairs the person's ability to appraise the nature of or resist engaging in any conduct, including performing or providing labor or services; or
(C) withholding alcohol or a controlled substance to a degree that impairs the ability of a trafficked person with a chemical dependency, as defined by Section 462.001, Health and Safety Code, to appraise the nature of or resist engaging in any conduct, including performing or providing labor or services.
(2) "Forced labor or services" means labor or services, other than labor or services that constitute sexual conduct, that are performed or provided by another person and obtained through an actor's use of force, fraud, or coercion.

Force, fraud, and coercing. Those all apply to Watson’s actions. In cases Watson physically forced some women. He also by fraud, enticed them under the pretense of a massage only to then ask for sexual favor which is trafficking.

Oh yeah so if I was accused by 20 women of sexual assault the police would just quietly investigate it and I could go about my daily life including a spur of the moment trip out of the country.

Police aren’t going to arrest anyone right away based on the number of any such allegations. They would want to establish a pattern and gather as much evidence as possible. The sheer amount of volume of accusations, is going to require time. The average sexual assault case can take months or years to investigate in the state of Texas.

I’ve seen DA charging documents regarding sexual assault filed by HPD. And MANY times, the alleged incident in the document had occurred months or at least 2 years before it was filed. So the number of complaints has nothing to do with anything. It just means there’s more for the DA to investigate.

And one last thing. Those who are charged with sexual assault in Harris County are almost never arrested right away. Because the investigations are so lengthy before a judge even signs a warrant. Many sexual assault cases have to go the warrant route instead of just the DA accepting charges from the street.

I get what you're saying, but after seeing things like the Wienstein/Cosby/Epstein situations I wouldn't be so certain he doesn't do some time. With this said you're most likely correct.

I just dont like how Apple Pie called Buzbee a weasel because he's doing everything he can to represent his clients to the best of his ability. I want a lawyer like Buzbee defending me.

Apple Pie is correct though. In today's climate the DA/FBI would've swept this under the rug if it hadn't been for Buzbee's representation. I'm one of the few that hopes more for justice than caring about draft pick compensation.
