Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

You know, it’s real sad you think ALL sexual assault incidents are reported right after they happen. They are not. Many aren’t reported at all. And the statue of limitations do not expire on such allegations for quite some time so they were well within the timeframe
You are the one that said they went straight to police...

Did I say that you were condoning sexual assault? No, I did not. What I can show is the post quoted above where you say that because none of these women filed a criminal complaint at the time of the alleged assault and that they have only come forward as part of these civil lawsuits, you are not inclined to believe them.

First, you have already been provided real world, confirmed and easily Googled data that the vast majority of women do not report sexual assault at the time that it happens. Not to be Captain Obvious, but this is why we have Statute of Limitation laws.

Second, the civil lawsuit is the preferred path for many dealing with a "he said/she said" case involving rich men with strong connections to local leaders.

Third, why do you think my first two points happen? Because many times they can't even get the authorities to open a case, they are intimidated to not pursue or (much like what you are doing) their character is impugned beyond recognition in a very public way.

So no, I don't believe all women, but I am compelled to listen to them honestly and openly. Because I have a single daughter living in another city. Heaven forbid anything ever happen to her, but if it did I would want her to be able to tell her story to the proper authorities and not have to defend what she was wearing, how much she was drinking, what did she say to lead him on, or any other version of "she had it coming to her" excuse from a bunch of men like you before they would even file the complaint or have it dismissed.

You on the other hand have already rapped the gavel in your own court of opinion and determined on nothing other than egregious and debunked assumptions that these women are not to be believed.
No I said NONE of them filed criminal complaints until after this was made a public spectacle.

But anywho, 1) what does the numbers he posted have to do with THIS CASE? I'm sure the judge is going to consider that as evidence of guilt. Gee what was I thinking?

2) Since you claim this preferred path (perhaps for their pockets) and many say this is a common avenue for women to get "justice", Give us 1 example of a woman who filed a civil lawsuit that led to criminal charges being filed and conviction against the person she sued. I'll wait...

3) See point number 2.

Well, the text messages Watson sent to the accusers MAY have delayed them going to the police. Doesn’t matter. They still went to the police. The DA believes it warrants going to a grand jury. Period. That’s it

I think of it like this,

If we crucify Watson and he's found innocent then we are **** people who crucified him for nothing.

On the other hand, if we say, I would like to hear more from these women to make sure their story checks out, there is no harm or irreversible damage done. I don't believe in wanting FACTS to be a bad thing.

Some on this board believe with 100% certainty Watson did this, based on the claims, and that's your right. But you don't get to talk down to the rest of us who say, let's just wait and see how this plays out before we leap to conclusions.

Except that’s not what some are saying. It’s “well why didn’t they go to the police sooner” bunch that have absolutely no grasp on how sexual assault victims are able to come to grips with what happened and move forward

Or maybe the extra appointments I guess Watson forced them to continue having.

I do.

You've talked yourself into a conviction with a fraction of the details. You may very well end up being right but it's to early to say and pass judgment.
What does his post have to do with innocence or guilt?

His post was the uncomfortable truth.

What I have previously posted, is that the FBI review of sexual assault cases revealed that only between 2% and 5% of all cases reported to authorities are, after thorough investigation, found to be false accusations. What I haven't previously reported is that the FBI review concluded that of the small number of false accusations, most were submitted by young teenage girls.

And in the meantime will you question the character of those who reserve judgment?
I cant understand how after reading through 13 of those complaints and the SI article that anybody would want to support this guy or worry about what the Texans might get in trade for him.

Heck I got sick reading through 13 complaints and didn't want to read the other complaints. The SI article certainly didn't comfort my opinions after reading the complaints.

That's not an answer to my question.

What is your question,

After reading that stuff I question anybody who would be okay with that.

There's too many women telling the same story for some of it not to be true. This has been my stance since I read this and I'm not apologetic for my stance.

Truth is I will be glad when this is over.

I'm living for the day when we can put all of this behind us. . .or at least move this one to the NFL section.

I mean, I'm also living for a lot of other things, too, but man, I really look forward to the day that this thread dies. It's the giant forehead pimple of the forum, y'know?
I was thinking more of a boil on Houston's ass, where you just can't even sit comfortably until it all comes to head. Either way,.. yeah I'm done with it too. Just hope Watson falls to the wayside in NFL history. I hope we keep on winning while he watches on a bench too.. He wants out of Houston.. No, Houston now wants you the F out of our city Watson..

Well one reason why someone wouldn't report a sexual assault to the police is because one didn't occur in the first place. So we will likely never know the true number of those that are false vs legitimate.
????.. what!?. yeah that's 1 reason.. reason #30.

care to explain why women typically don't report these attacks, here's a hint.. it certainly isn't close to the reason you posted.

Let me just remind you that we are on a sports message board, which is the domain of some of the most misogynistic, patriarchal and whatever other feminist's trigger words you can think of are put on a daily display. So when you got people here telling you that you are on the wrong side of the sexual assault conversation, you might want to listen instead of doubling down on the dumbass.

There's a lot of dumbass with this one..

alot of us have sisters who were raped,/high school date raped, guess they were just "witch hunting" too. What he posted made absolute zero sense.

I was raised by women.. when thirty of them tell me the same damn story, I listen.. Hell if I'm outnumbered in a room.. I listen.. 30+ women come forward with the same story and this guy chalks it off to a "witch hunt" 😁😅🤣 Here's a shovel, dig your own grave.

A powerful well known athlete who can ruin any one of their businesses or lives if they don’t comply. See what I did there?
You've repeatedly said this throughout the thread, can you explain to me how exactly this could happen in your mind? I completely understand how being assaulted would have a lasting negative effect on someone's life, so that's not what Im talking about. How can Watson ruin a MT's life if they refuse to book a massage appointment? If the person worked for the Texans then I can see how he could negatively influence their career, but I can't figure out how he could ruin a self employed MT's career. If their entire client base were Texans football players then I can see how this could happen. I can't see it happening any other way. What is he going to do, write negative Yelp/Google reviews? Im just trying to understand how you think this would happen

Exactly. I don't understand the "comply or ruin your life" logic. If you are uncomfortable with Watson's behavior, do you really want more clients like him who might behave in a similar fashion? Also, you can argue that the MT going public or even the threat of going public would also damage/ruin Watson's public image and endorsements. So, she is not totally powerless.

Shoot. Since we live in a "believe what we read on the internet" and click bait culture. Just an anonymous social media posting about a star Texans player's inappropriate behavior would generate media attention and heat.

Number one, some of these MT’s appointments were not booked by the MT, but instead the Spa “manager”. Watson could badmouth either the MT to the Spa owner potentially having her fired, he could also badmouth the entire team agency having them lose clients which could then still lead to the MT being fired. As was noted in the lawsuits, Watson messages them multiple times after the incidents. There are text messages, DMs. He was allegedly harassing them. Then you have the independent Masseuses who were just starting out and had no book of business. If I’m a star athlete and you’ve never done any work on a star athlete, I have leverage over you to do what I want. Watson knew the people who referred the women to them. He could have badmouthed the MT’s to those people who would then have them blackballed.

Noope, I think they are letting their fandom not let them see the obvious.
Isn’t that the kettle calling the pot black?

Your hatred of everything Watson since he was drafted has permeated right into an opportunity to lead a lynch mob the moment this nasty mess became public. Your hatred has made you blind to the way our judicial system works whether you like the outcome or not.

There you go again…..if we aren’t in the camp of hanging his arse from the nearest tree then we must be blind fans. So, if this is the case (in your mind) do tell what you’ve personally heard or seen that none of us others haven’t? Your getting your information from the same sources as everyone else on this board.

Please point out the posters who announced that Watson was “completely” clear and innocent of all accusations. Some may have questioned the validity of the accusations but almost everyone, not on the side of hang’em from the nearest tree group, has stated in numerous post(s) that they were willing to wait for the verdict……you know, that little saying “innocent until proven guilty”. Not, ”he’s guilty because I said so” and anyone not toting my line of thinking is some kind of secret perverted fan.
The number one reason Watson would refuse a trade to the Saints. :kitten:

No they didn't go straight to the police cuz otherwise there would've been a police report around the time of the alleged incident. They may or may not be represented by Buzbee, but if you think they don't have a lawyer at all then you are naive. All it says is that they weren't apart of the lawsuit.

Lets not let facts get in the way ....

The first criminal complaints were filed back in 2019 .... Long before Buzbee became involved.

Report: At least 10 alleged victims have spoken to Houston police about Deshaun Watson (msn.com)
The dates of the complaints range from September 2019 to December 2020, and Houston police interviewed the reported victims between April 2 and May 20. That would mean Houston police were fielding complaints about Watson well before attorney Tony Buzbee went public with the first civil suit against the Texans quarterback, which happened in March and is separate from any criminal investigation.

It's obvious to me what DW4 has been up to. Revealed through the media, & I'm not talking about Buzbee at all.

You can put your head in the sand & from what I know that's exactly what's going on when people talk about trading him.

I don't know their motives, & won't judge their character. But there's enough revealed that we know Watson's a perverted, entitled, schmuck.

We have one poster here who believes DW4 is guilty of sexual assault and in their own words, "hopes he gets 25 years in prison"

We have another poster here who thinks this is all a money grab and the women are lying and gaslights anyone as a "believe all women" witch hunter if they disagree with him.

The rest of us seem fairly in the middle with an understanding of presumed innocence for the defendant AND wanting to get to objectively hear from the accusers. We also understand that the BEST outcome for DW4 in this situation is that he paid for sex/has a sexual addiction, both of which are predatory behaviors.

There is a good chance he writes a lot of checks because in civil court the burden of proof is nowhere as stringent as it is in criminal court. There is also a good chance the criminal cases don't move forward for that same reason. But there is no scenario where he comes out fully exonerated with his character (and endorsement contracts) intact.

Not just that, we have one woman, introduced through the defense, saying, "I told y'all not to be messing with Watson."

Then you have another woman, more or less unrelated to the accusers saying, "I told Watson to be careful. His name is getting out there."

& then you have another saying, "She called me after the incident, seeking comfort."

Then there's the one who hasn't filed & gave that youtube interview against her legal counsel."

Then SI interviewed 5 other women, not with Buzbee, not with Hardin, but had similar experiences with Watson.

It's just too much & you're being obtuse if you don't agree Watson is guilty of something. Whether that's rape or indecent exposure, none of us should be comfortable with any of it.

1) Did the women file the complaints within the statute of limitations timeframe? That is the only timeline that matters to a judge.

2) That's... not how the court system works.
