is it bad when you have to hope for Derek Newton to come back like his old self again?

But I really wanted Clowney then Jimmy G., you should go check out my mocks from that yr.
Pulling out one of the medical charts I use to communicate with my younger patients, I find that our Oline has no "solid" foundation and is classified somewhere between a shaky type 6 and type 7.The o-line problem has deteriorated to the point the letting a guys like XSF or Allen go can do more harm than good. with out them, there is zero foundation to build on. How often does a complete revamp ever works.

I always have a big smile after a dump.Doctor humor, nice. I always look for a smile and a big thumbs up from my turds, though if that dudes wearing shades I'm going in for a colonoscopy and probably emergency surgery.

Minnesota did one this year...

FA occurs prior to the draft. There's no way Smith could have known Watson would be available in a trade up at that point. Ricky lost his job because he signed Brock and then had to fork over a 2nd round pick to dump him a year later.Imagine if Ricky could have been forward thinking and traded for DW4 and then spent the pile of cash he was sitting on to fix the OL. We would be having a different discussion this off-season. Which is why Ricky lost his job. (Not being able to get ahead of the curve.)

The NFL needs to move the draft before FA so these type of things dont happen. # Peterson to the Saints. The draft going 1st will also help the NFL become a better product. Which means this will never happen under God'ell's watch.
Having FA 1st allows teams to fill major needs 1st and then be more BPA in the draft.
You're going to have more Peterson situations then.
Sorry, not familiar. Care to explain?
The Saints signed Peterson, then went BPA and drafted Kamara. Kamara was the real deal and beat out Peterson. Peterson was then traded to Arz. The bonus $$$$ Peterson got and roster spot was wasted because FA comes before the draft.

So? And lol - Kamara had 15 carries when Peterson was traded. He was on a 2 year $7 mil deal ($2.5 mil bonus). They could have kept him and still had an incredibly cheap backfield. They made a bad decision to trade and wasted their own money.
Oh and Peterson wasn't some hot commodity. They signed him 2 days before the draft, almost 2 mos into free agency. And Ingram was the starter while Kamara played receiver.
Bad judgment by the Saints isn't a good reason to change.
I bet you weren't for changing the extra point rule, until God'ell was for it.
This happens more often than you think and is unnecessary.

Your guesswork is consistent - wrong.
Pssst - Goodell doesn't change rules.
What I know happens every year for every team is addressing needs in free agency.
BTW, if God'ell wanted this it would happen. See: Moving the Draft/ London/Thursday Night were his ideas.
BO'b played a part in Brock being sent away for a second round pick.FA occurs prior to the draft. There's no way Smith could have known Watson would be available in a trade up at that point. Ricky lost his job because he signed Brock and then had to fork over a 2nd round pick to dump him a year later.
Going back to XSF I think you almost need to go ahead and bring him back if you can do so for a reasonable amount of money. Gotta keep the price reasonable and the contract short because he's most likely going to end up as depth behind a better FA signing. Can't flush them all down the drain at one time. It just doesn't work for continuity.
Who is going to show the new guys how to do the "Texas Turnstile" if the X-Man is sent packing?
Your guesswork is consistent - wrong.

Idea and authority are not the same thing. The owners make these changes not Goodell.
As for your examples, two were under Tagliabue and one wasn't the NFL's idea much less Goodell's.
NFL has been playing London since 1986, regular season since 2005. Goodell became commissioner in August 2006. Tagliabue and Goodell have been acting at the direction of the owners to find ways to broaden international appeal.
Thursday night games existed sporadically long before Goodell. Establishing a regular series and awarding it to the new NFL Network was done before Goodell became commissioner (OLN offered $450 mil for the games in 2005 and the NFL declined) and the 1st of those games happened a couple months later.
Radio City Music Hall initiated the movement of the draft. The NFL moved the draft by 2 weeks to accommodate them in 2014. Radio City then informed the NFL they couldn't have their customary dates in 2015 and the NFL decided to go to another city (Madison Square Garden was also booked).
You're just listing things you don't like and blaming someone you don't like, facts be damned.
And that's all a distraction from your obviously incorrect assertion Goodell changed the extra point rule. The owners did on recommendation of the competition committee which considered a number of possible changes.
Okoye was in it for the $$$$. Got paid and was done. He didn't love football.
He never put in the work he needed to get better.
Everything else is revisionist history.
Yes, there were some who expected the Osweiler disaster.<snip> Some may have felt we paid a bit over what we should have but I don't think anybody would have thought he would be as bad as he was. <snip>
Why would you even think that?
The guy is attempting to play in the CFL after being placed in a medically induced coma to treat seizures. That’s dedication after playing for four different NFL teams.
Maybe he was drafted higher than what his real value was. Like Travis Johnson.

So what’s your point?Yes, there were some who expected the Osweiler disaster.

Very far and few between. Not to the degree of suckitude that he displayed. It's not like he sucked his first go around in Denver.Yes, there were some who expected the Osweiler disaster.

Good foresight texan279. Still he did enough good things in Denver that he made himself a fairly hot commodity. It turns out that Gary Kubiak was a better fit as head coach and OC for Brock even though Brock nor most other people could have seen it at the time.

New? Where you been?
What would y'all offer XSF? Vet minimum and a packing box is all I'm offering; mostly the box.
I'm reducing my offer to unlimited boxes. Don't want to see any artifacts left behind. What would y'all offer XSF? Vet minimum and a packing box is all I'm offering; mostly the box.
Osweiler owes a lot of $$$ to Kubiak for babying him through 10 starts, then benching him before the league could see Brock was a fraud.Good foresight texan279. So what’s your point?
We needed a QB. We basically had three realistic options:
1) Sign the top FA QB in Brock
2) Draft Lynch or Hackenberg
3) Go with Hoyer again
There were simply no good options that offseason and you had to pick one.
