Preseason Game 1 Thread: Chiefs @ Texans

That's mostly what the common-taters have talked about but our tackle play blew chunks in front of him.
One play, they singled out Ryans as he went right behind Weaver, who was double teamed, as LJ went up the middle where Ryans was originally.

Antwaan Peek is really making a push for the starting weakside end position.

Nice clean up by Ryans...he was free to make a tackle on that play instead of dealing with the man the Tackles whiff on.

are you giving me some play by play? thanks!

Peek looks great in pass rushing situations but lost the contain on the play before when his side collapsed and gave the back lots of running room. He has to defend the run better...we all know he can pass rush.

Ryans has just made a nice tackle, reading the play and stopped the RB.

I literally laughed as Travis Johnson ran after the ballcarrier just now...stumbling, rumbling, jumping two inches and rolling around...

Doesn't TJ have a calf or hammy injury though?

Ha ha...guess so...:tease:

Travis Johnson looks exhausted right now, but he doesn't seem to be dominated by the guards like the starters, he's always free to go after the play.

He may, but he would probably have some conditioning issues since he's lost weight around TC. He's been playing alright, but that was funny. Nice effort, but he didn't show too much athleticism there.

Was waiting for that call too. He was inside the pocket about to get sacked. At least they got one call right eh?

Did they call it? If so I missed it, that's why I was complaining lol.

yeah the officiating sucks so far. well whats everyone think? I think we did ok besides the run defense, although the first unit didnt really get after the QB as well as I would have liked.

I don't know, but has anyone mentioned TJ was being doubled on Kalu's side, when Kalu got his sack??

He also split a sack with Payne..

I'm only watching highlights, so I couldn't see if he was involved with the intentional grounding.......

anyway, he's looking pretty good to me.

but damn......... I never noticed how wide he is......... should've played nosegaurd.....

The whole d line was in on that one, even TJ.
I wasn't paying close attention, but the commentators said Payne just cleaned up on Travis Johnson's play.

Oh, it just occured to me...is DeMeco Ryans going to stay on the field long enough to play against his alma matter's former QB?

No, cause I'm pretty sure Coyle isn't playing.

on offense I think both units looked good, owens looked prommising and Lundy looked real good, O-line even looked decent.and Carr looked great, that tipped pass over the middle was a touchdown otherwise.

well, our back up DT's look better than our starters so far. Weaver didn't impress me inside at all...but it's early.

Carr looked nervous and shaky after the first series and made a couple of bad passes IMO. The one pass he threw to AJ was into double or triple coverage if I remember right. The play action pass and bootlegs are working though.

TJ tripped him up while laying on the ground, then Payne flopped on him

I think Ryans and TJ are TRYING to contradict me..:shoot:

On those highlights, I just saw Spencer and a TE go through three defenders, and Spencer got a pancake block, too.

Compared to last year it was a clinic in how it's done!!! I'm no longer worried about this team.

Man Lundy has been solid so far :fireball:. So far it looks pretty good, Carr was a little nervous to start it off and forced the ball but he had some pretty good rollouts.

News from around the NFL:

Marcus Vick got on teh feild for teh 'Fins (kick return for no yards and a punt return for 28 yards).

Speaking of the 'Fins Harrington went 10-19 for 99 yards and 1 TD.

Reggie Bush has 6 carries for 59 yrds, and 2 rec for 10 yrds.

Delhomme went 5-6 for 64 yards and a score

VY is 1-4 for 14 yrds with 2 rushes for 15 yards.
