Preseason Game 1 Thread: Chiefs @ Texans

I thought Wand looked good. Pitts....Owne Daniels, Lundy. Ryans and TJ made some plays when he got in. Peek was bi-polar as usual. Great on the pass bad on the run.

I wouldn't complain too much. Carr didn't convert that 4th IMO.

So halftime thoughts:

1) Dude, this new zone blocking is pretty sick! I've never seen our Oline move laterally like that. I wasn't expecting much, saying repeatedly that Kubiak probably couldn't do the same things Joe Gibbs has done. I was wrong.

2) Spencer should be our starting LT pretty soon. He had a bad 1st play but otherwise looked very impressive.

3) Maybe we should have put Mario on the inside so people wouldn't run all over us. :-P Anyway, after hearing all the stories on how good our Dline was in training camp, it is kind of disheartening to see them get run over. And it's not like we were much better on passing downs, which was supposed to be our strength.

4) Mario is pretty big. :) But he needs to start learning some more pass rushing moves. It looks like he was trying to bull pass the guy the whole time.

News from around the NFL:

Marcus Vick got on teh feild for teh 'Fins (kick return for no yards and a punt return for 28 yards).

Speaking of the 'Fins Harrington went 10-19 for 99 yards and 1 TD.

Reggie Bush has 6 carries for 59 yrds, and 2 rec for 10 yrds.

Delhomme went 5-6 for 64 yards and a score

VY is 1-4 for 14 yrds with 2 rushes for 15 yards.

thanks for the update! Delhomme i think is one of the most under rated QBs in the league.

Carr looked nervous and shaky after the first series and made a couple of bad passes IMO. The one pass he threw to AJ was into double or triple coverage if I remember right. The play action pass and bootlegs are working though.

If that's the case, he's gotta shake those panic-throws off, start going through his recievers. Smells like last season all over again, but I REALLY hope I'm wrong on that one. Stats-wise (All I have is the NFL game Center Thing)) looks real good.

So, When's my Main Man Morency getting that dang oval bawl? :)

No but they both should have been. His first two passes to Moulds were right on target, but other than that he has made some bad decisions.
Carr hasnt been that bad...that second "horrible" pass was about one inch higher from being a 50 yard TD bomb to AJ...it was a great play from the linebacker. The first one was a terrible throw, if it had been in front of AJ he might have had it, but it was behind him. Wally has looked great, Smith has looked like...well...Antwan Smith...

I don't know, but has anyone mentioned TJ was being doubled on Kalu's side, when Kalu got his sack??

He also split a sack with Payne..

I'm only watching highlights, so I couldn't see if he was involved with the intentional grounding.......

anyway, he's looking pretty good to me.

but damn......... I never noticed how wide he is......... should've played nosegaurd.....
He played DE under Capers and DT when Capers ran the 4-3 package.

Who is 41?

Lewis doesn't look near as comfortable returning as Lundy does....I think I know who has the inside track at that spot now.

If Lundy keeps his play up and improves in some areas could he have the inside track on the starting RB spot?

He isn't slow...but you can see the difference that decisiveness and short quick cuts mean when you contrast Lundy's touches with the way Lewis handles the kicks.

Vernand Morency isn't playing tonight, 610 didn't say why, but that's what they said a few days ago.

I would not say that at all. First lets see what he can do when starting the game. I do like what I have seen from him, but can he block or catch passes?

too early to say but if he can handle the kicks and punts while Mathis is down no way we cut him for a guy like Taylor.

With Chris Taylor, Wali Lundy, and Philip Buchanon, I would say Lewis isn't likely to return punts or kicks in the regular season, if he makes the roster.

Winston was in...nice protection by the line as a whole.

I see what you are saying. I guess he looked more lost and confused than slow after watching the replay.

Did anyone notice TJ roll over 3 KC lineman effectively taking them out of that stuffed running play. ;)

That bad pass that was almost picked off wasn't so much as a bad decision as it was bad aim. Yes, there were 3 KC defenders around the area, 2 were over top watching AJ blur by them, and Surtain was behind AJ, if Carr had thrown it in front of AJ it would have been a completion, instead he threw it to his shoulder, and Surtain was able to get a jump on it, AJ had to step forward to knock it out of his hands. *Back to my room to watch the game*:fridge:

LOL.....he'll probably make it to China before the game is over.

They are reporting that every pass he's thrown has been circumnavigating the planet before reaching the receiver. Tha's why he only has one completion.

in their defence, they are going up against one of the most potent rushing ofences in the league. I EXPECT KC to make yards rushing, but hopefully not TOO many :)

Lundy came into the game about 5 minutes into the 1st quarter and played with the 1st team. He did drop a sure first down pass.

Man Taylor hits the hole fast and hard.
He hasn't impressed me that much. He has had some big holes to rumble though but doesn't seem to be able to cut like Lundy with a man in front of him in short space.....just an early and incomplete observation though

oh....ok....that's why the space shuttle just crashed in my yard.
