Preseason Game 1 Thread: Chiefs @ Texans

Not Texans info, but Bush just had one of his typical crazy cut back runs against the Titans first string D for 44 yards. Looked straight out of one of his USC highlight clips. I hope both he and Williams have good opening games

Lundy looks like he "gets" the system. If this is my team and he keeps this up he's starting next week. Antowain maybe a great presence in the locker room and a veteran who can show the young guys how to be but he can do that from the second string spot for now. If Taylor is what his press says then maybe Antowain drops to third or doesn't make this team.
I never took 'Smith as a starter' seriously. Lundy has nice moves in short space. He runs like Jon Wells wants to run, but doesn't have the sweet feet.

Both his poor passes were in the middle of the field as he was in the pocket. Both of his good passes were on designed rolls out of the pocket with the WR on the sidelines. Carr has struggled in the middle of the field in the past as he has never been able to resovle the cover 2.
I think that Carr couldn't have beaten the Cover 2 with the O they ran under Capers. In order to beat the Cover 2, you need a good WR corps or a TE that can stretch the field in order to draw the safeties away from the flanker WRs.

Hey: can anyone that saw anything tell me anything about the Jags touchdown?

A fluke or a good pass or what? I just noticed it on NFL.com's gamecenter.

Go first string D!!! TEXANS!!!

LOL Barrett Green needs to have better vision than that...he almost got killed on that block.

Good Pass and a good run by Matt Jones. Jones is a load to bring down.

One of the "bad" passes you describe was barely nicked by the defender as stuck his hand out in desperation...it was barely tipped, but the ball was going so fast--and AJ was going so fast--that just THAT much caused AJ to not catch it.

I disagree with your assessment that the second pass to Aj was a bad decision. It was almost a great play, and AJ was going to score if he caught it.

Has Carr gotten any pressure tonight or is the line holding up alright.

I only saw him stand in the pocket a couple of times, saw him get pressure from the left side once when Wand got beat.

L Johnson is one of the NFL's premier backs. Don't expect a brand new D to stop him. He has been unstoppable over the last 2 years

Wow...the Tackles are is getting owned inside.
Definetely, but then again, look at KC's guards, probably the best in the League. Either Wright or Ryans get doubled on every play I've noticed.

You are slowly mutating into a homer young Luke...not sure I'm liking your fall to the dark side.

Line is holding up. Looks the way zone block is supposed to look but a little sluggish. The holds are developing fast enough. They showed some live stuff followed immediately by some old Denver film and you can see the comparison. The Capers zone blocking never looked like that!

Tillman just called Spencer a "beached whale"

What concentration by the line, the Chiefs were trying to force a false start, but not a single budge by the line.

Owen Daniels: I understand the pick now.

Well, Lundy drops the ball right in the hands....pass was perfect....had room to run. Nice protection

Was that anger I just saw on the face of Kubiak? Haven't seen that from our head coach in 4 years...Lundy drops a first down pass...:crying:

whomever was playing RG was totally pancaked on that play.

*edit* that was the blocking back...explains it

Speaking of which, who was beside Weaver, Payne or Smith? The whole inside got dominated by the Chiefs, but they have Brian Waters and Will Shields, two Pro Bowl guards, probably Hall-of-Famers.

Speaking of homers, Sage Rosenfels is looking more polished and poised than David Carr. I'm just saying, I'm not against benching David Carr for a game or two--even if it is just pre-season games.

Usually when the second QB comes in I'm accustomed to seeing a decrease in the positions effectiveness. When Sage came in I'd say it was a wash or maybe even a slight improvement. He just looked so much more comfortable back there than Carr did.

Lundy's a rookie and he did a rookie thing with that dropped ball but I expect the coaches will get that straightened out this week.
