NFL Random Thought of the Day

JJ McCarthy lost his rookie season to an knee meniscus tear which was surgically repaired. He was recently reported to have undergone a 2nd surgical procedure. However, as it turns out, this is not correct. He has had ongoing swelling and inflammation of the knee and has undergone platelet rich plasma injections to the knee. This does not change the fact that he will not be seen this season.

Where are the good teams on that list, where are the bad teams?

What can we correlate based on where your team is on that list?
Lots of good teams with lots of penalties (bmore, Houston, GB) lots of good teams in the middle and a few good teams with very few penalties.
All over the board. My point was the chiefs lack of penalties

The final was.. the fight before that was NOT. It was a fight of the year nominee.. basically a female version of Ward vs Gatti. Those two ladies saved the entire card for me.

I heard that too. One of the best fights in a long time.
The two Mexican fellas, one in the pink/black shorts is from San Antonio, those two dudes beat the hell outta one another
Great fight

I understand the fight was the disaster also.

I’ve seen better fights in Walmart.

That was a good fight but the outcome is one of the reasons why I stopped watching boxing 30 years ago. Judging was awful back then and it was awful last night. There’s no way anybody watching that with their human eyes could have not only given that to Taylor, but doing it unanimously. Total and complete bullshit.

Interesting, I think the Bills' approach with Allen (6yr vet) is pretty solid. Having the whole offense contribute through Allen sharing with Joe Brady definitely promotes buy-in. I'd probably want a quarterback to have 3 or 4 years in the league before fully relying on him to understand what it takes of being a NFL starter (leadership, schemes/concepts on both sides of the ball, attention to detail and performance, etc). I also think an OC should know what his offense executes well.

By then his rookie contract is over and after 2-3 more years or a 7 yr window it's time to move on because the QB will be taking up too much cap space to win a championship.

Fast ain't everything
A 2022 second-round pick out of Baylor with blazing speed, Thornton never emerged as the top threat the Patriots had hoped he would after he clocked a 4.28 time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine.

Jones, 27, has an injury guarantee in his contract that could come into play in the second half of the season. The Giants would owe him $23 million for 2025 if he were to suffer a serious injury and not be ready for next season.

From Danny Dimes to Tommy Cutlets.

Can't forget Belichick accidently calling to congratulate Brian Flores for getting the Giants HC job. It shouldn't have been an accident.

Giants coach Brian Daboll announced Monday that the struggling Jones will be New York's third-string quarterback going forward, behind DeVito and Drew Lock, who will remain in the backup role.

The firing of Douglas is the second major front-office shake-up this fall. The Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh on Oct. 8 when the team was 2-3.
I thought that team was just a QB away from SB contention.

Shows what I know.

It’s the right call. The Jets gave him 5 years, which could’ve been about right considering the Rodgers signing. Rodgers got hurt the first season and they crapped the bed this season in all phases of the game.

Did you see this?
I just found this a bit deeper dive into the history and politics over the last few years for the Jets.

Now Rodgers has to be factored into the middle of the Jets' wreckage from multiple angles: Woody Johnson's opinion of him remaining on the roster and the $49M ...

Leading the group of candidates in their first year of eligibility were Manning; former Defensive Players of the Year Luke Kuechly and Terrell Suggs; postseason kicking hero Adam Vinatieri; three-time Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas; and two-time All-Pro guard Marshal Yanda.

If Eli gets in then the Pro Football HOF is about as useless as the Baseball HOF.

And before anybody argues he should be in, he never led the league in any category except INT, 3 times, had 1.5 TD to every pick, and had a 60.3% completion percentage, 7.0 Y/A, and a 84.1 passer rating. Matt Schaub - 64.2%, 7.6, and 89.5. Oh, and Jim Plunkett won 2 SB too. He’s not a HOFer either.

Also, 2 of his 4 Pro Bowl selections were as a replacement.

He will probably get in on name recognition and the fact that his two SBs were against the evil empire Patriots

Manning has to make it doesn’t he? Lots of talk about why he won’t make it I mean 2 SB’s…. Dude was good. But HOF good? It’s a good discussion. I won’t argue against it. I think I’m more for it.
He will make it at some point. I'm thinking first ballot due to the name and the NY factor. Helps him that NYG have absolutely sucked since he retired

Unfortunately you're probably right. We have become a society that cares less and less about actual achievements, facts, and what have you.

I'm fine with Eli in HOF. Can't tell the story of Brady without bringing up the little brother of his rival.

That's like saying you can't tell the story of the Ravens ridiculous defense without Trent Dilfer game managing the offense. That's not what HOF is supposed to be.

If Eli has to piggyback Brady, and/or his brother to get in, that tells you all you need to know right there.

BTW, Eli had just 7 winning seasons in his 16 year career, and has a .500 QB record. If he's going to get credit for 2 SB wins, shouldn't he also take something for 9 losing seasons and a 117-117 record?

No we've become a spreadsheet society and care more about analytics than actually watching games and valuing playing your best when the lights are the brightest.
