I find it interesting the Rams philosophy of trading premium draft picks for proven veterans.

This seems to conflict with the “conventional” philosophy of building through the draft. The Rams seem to think paying a premium for proven studs even without a rookie contract is better than taking swings in the draft.

They'll pay for that philosophy eventually. Will it be worth it if they don't win a SB? But for now they're all in on win now with an older QB...

They're getting a good mix of players & picks.

& they haven't done anything yet. I'm going to enjoy watching them in the playoffs. I want to see Stafford in a Super Bowl. He's a good dude.

I also wanted to see Fitzpatrick in the playoffs. But, you know...

The window is “possibly” shorter than a team with a QB on a rookie contract. But how many of those teams have been Super Bowl contenders before the QB gets the second contract? Chiefs won one and if the early season results are any indication their window appears to be shutting.

What is the price for a Super Bowl? It appears the Rams are looking to find out how many draft picks that will cost. Obviously you have to hit on the veterans that you pick. But its much easier to say Jalen Ramsey will be q shut down CB for your team when he has done it already than it is to say those two first round picks you traded will become big time players.
 
The Lions are fully committed to go 0-17 and steal the Texans #1 overall pick. Detroit is doing it right. Give the Lions GM props for bringing in a more inept coaching staff then the Texans did.

The price when you believe you are close is anything because winning the Super Bowl is everything. As long as the Rams' core perform at a high level their window is through 2023, in 2024 I believe they'll have their full draft picks back.

The way Eagles and Dolphins draft they should follow Rams. Hopefully both will in pursuit of DW in offseason.

I guess that's one way to perceive the move. On the other hand, I view the move as a team trying to take advantage of the current team they've assembled and their opportunity and/or window to win now by adding a talent like Vonn Miller.

I like this smart and strategic trade and only hope that the Texans would do the same thing when they enter their own "win now" window in the future.

They acquired a QB this offseason to get over the hump. Now they have acquired another pass rusher to go along with their already stacked defense. They have pushed all their chips in and are betting that this roster is the best in the NFL.

In a way, the Texans tried similar with disastrous results… two firsts for Watson and two firsts for Tunsil. Giving away a 2nd to dump Osweiller’s salary… it all adds up. Especially when you don’t nail your remaining draft picks like Cooper Kupp in the 3rd round.
 
Speaking of Kupp… I think his success shows how important a coaching/scheme fit is with a player. Especially beyond the 1st round.

I don’t think he would’ve had the same success had he been taken by the Texans and played in the OB offense, even with WD40. I do think he would be a classic Pats successful WR matched with Brady/Belichek (or now just Belichek).

Not a plus athlete but a “tough, smart, dependable” player matched with an elite offensive mind (Mcvay).

I don't think the trade made to move up and draft Watson qualifies b/c he was a draft pick. Until he was under center the team had no idea as to what they had....reasonably. When Watson delivered the goods in his rookie season, the team just lacked a smart and savvy FO that could initiate the building of a team around their "Franchise QB".

As for the Tunsil trade.....it made no sense at the moment they made the move. Who could look at the team at that time and come to the conclusion they were a LT away from being SB contenders? Instead of giving up all that draft capital for a LT who specializes in finesse pass blocking they could've used those picks to find a LT who possessed all those tools coming out of CFB....for much less money.

The Osweiler debacle was just another low chapter in the book known as, "Welcome To Texans World". By all accounts, Bob should've fired OB's arse when he walked into his office and stated that the team should trade Osweiler at all cost. Again, Osweiler might've been a solid pickup had the Texans done anything to truly try and build a team around this guy. In all honesty, they should've re-hired Kubiak who might've been able to make the Osweiler trade payoff for the Texans.

Joe Judge: Giants have had problems with headsets not working in every game this year

Giants coach Joe Judge says his team had to use timeouts it didn’t want to use against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football because the headsets weren’t working and they couldn’t get their plays called.
In fact, Judge says the Giants’ headsets never work.

“It’s happened in every game so far,” Judge said, via Newsday. “We deal with the league and they keep telling us there are different software updates, but we had to call two timeouts today because we’re trying to send the deals in personnel-wise and we have half the headsets aren’t getting any reception . . . Whatever the issue with that is, the people involved with that had better get it fixed fast.”
Judge said he doesn’t know if league or Giants employees are in charge of getting the headsets to work but that it “better be fixed fast.”

It should have been fixed after the first time. That it still hasn’t been fixed nearing the halfway point of the season is bizarre, and one of the strangest complaints we’ve heard from an NFL coach this season.

This is a very interesting piece of info CnD.
I’ve always wondered about Hopkins injuries in both the playoff loss against the Colts (5 receptions 35yds) “Hopkins said he played most of the game with a Grade 3 AC sprain of his right shoulder after injuring it in the first half.“

and the playoff loss against the Chiefs.
“DeAndre Hopkins played second half of AFC Divisional Round loss to Chiefs with a broken rib, per report”
(Had a great game 9 Rec 118yds, with 4 for 53 coming in the 2nd half).

Always struck me that those 2 games were linked by that circumstance.

I dunno who is thought to be the big prize in this years Draft ? Is there an allegedly "can't miss" QB in the 2022 Draft ?
But I'm thankful we will be involved in the Draft this year.

That's not even the whole story. Ruggs was driving over 150 miles per hour when he crashed into another car and killed another person on Tuesday, prosecutors said. Prosecutors also said his blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit and an illegal gun was found in his car.
 
Driving 156 miles per hour on a public street sober is terrible enough...........this is what happens when a youngster gets a boatload of money without proving responsibility first............

The world is full of stupid people doing stupid things. The cause is stupidity and there is no cure for it because stupid multiplies and spreads faster than any magic cure.

126 mph when the air bags deployed. Blood alcohol level was .16 (more than double the legal limit)

Depends on what you think of Derrick as a franchise QB, I was against trading up for derrick at that time.

I was for trading for Tunsil. I figured trading a couple of 1sts. (The Stills/4th equaled the 2nd in my mind) Trading for Tunsil and drafting Howard/Scharping made me think that the OL would grow together and become great. I was wrong because Howard/Scharping are looking busty and the team quit on BOB after 51-7.

The Raiders are currently leading a very tough AFC West.

They've overcome many obstacles this yr, this is another mountain they have to climb.
