Dayum, if I was Luck I think I'd mention that my shoulder was still hurting!

Looks like the Texans medical staff is not the only one that gets duped!

Rotoworld:

Giants CB Sam Beal is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

He aggravated a pre-existing injury at Monday's practice and could require surgery. The Giants selected Beal in the the supplemental draft earlier this month, but unfortunately he won't get a chance to suit up for them in year one. Had he played, Beal would have provided corner depth behind starters Janoris Jenkins and Eli Apple.

When they say "a pre-existing injury," they are referring to a Feb 2017 shoulder labrum surgery he underwent after dealing with recurrent dislocations/subluxation of his right shoulder during the 2016 season. He did well following this. You might note that none of the supplemental draft profiles ever mentioned this previous major shoulder surgery. However, there is a dislocation/subluxation recurrence rate of up to 10% post surgically (ala Braxton Miller). People are surprised that this recent injury was a non-contact injury. However, all it takes is an exaggerated motion of reaching for a ball up (arm abduction) and somewhat behind him (arm external rotation). Arizona was the only team that worked him up medically and personally examined his shoulder predraft, and shared their findings with all teams. But the Giant's medical staff cleared him the day before the injury.

Via Brooke Pryor of the Kansas City Star, Watkins decided two weeks ago to cut the long dreadlocks he’s worn since high school, and he’s using it as a symbol of the greater change.

“Kind of just wanted to be different this season and just be about business,” Watkins said. “I’ve had them for 12, 13 years. I’m 25 now. I don’t want to be 40 with dreads. I just decided to cut it.”

Good for him. He's maturing. Hope his foot and the rest of his body holds up.

Looks like Panthers' RT Trent Williams is again going to try to limp through another season to try to avoid the inevitable.........surgery.

Looks like Panthers' RT Daryl Williams is going to try to rehab his MCL/patellar dislocation and essentially limp through this season trying to avoid the inevitable. Don't believe a very wise decision. It didn't work out very well with the Redskins' OT Trent Williams who tried the same last season with predictable results.......poor performance and offseason Jan knee surgery.

The Buc's first round pick, DT Vita Vea, left practice on a cart after suffering what appeared to be a left calf injury. A calf tear is notoriously an injury that can turn recurrent and chronic. And this is after tearing his hamstring in the 40 at the Combine and couldn't participate at all in his Pro Day. Two significant soft tissue lower extremity injuries is no way to start off in the NFL.

Funny how creative injury reporting/wording is in trying to minimize the apparent damage.
After Ramon Foster was carted off the field yesterday.

Huge sigh of relief from #Steelers camp. LG Ramon Foster hyperextended his knee, but did not suffer any ligament damage and will NOT need surgery. Should be out 4-5 weeks. Remember: no Steeler has logged more snaps since 2009 than him.

Steelers OG Ramon Foster has a bone bruise and an MCL strain/stretch, per source. Likely out for good part of preseason but hoping for a few weeks. @AKinkhabwala first reported no surgery or ligament damage, 4-5 wk timetable.

With a hyperextended knee, a bone bruise is usually at the joint.........can have significant effects long and short term. An MCL strain/stretch=a ligament tear.......certainly not "no ligament damage."

Since he is dealing with an MCL, he will probably be treated conservatively with the use of a protective knee brace. However, bone bruising is treated through avoidance of excess weight bearing by the involved area. Activity and bearing weight can cause stress in the bone, which impedes the healing process by aggravating the injured area. Reintroduction of weight-bearing activity must be gradual and occur with that healing process in mind. This can take between 4-10 weeks, depending on severity. A 4-5 week full return is probably too optimistic.

#Cowboys rookie WR Cedrick Wilson is believed to have torn the labrum in his shoulder in practice, sources say. The sixth rounder is undergoing more tests to determine the next course of action. Would be a blow to depth.

1:35 PM - 29 Jul 2018 from Oxnard, CA

He's certainly not going to try playing with any shoulder harness if he is smart.......expect an announcement for surgery.

Trenton Thompson waived by the Browns. I thought he had some potential as a 5 tech.

6'3, 288, 34 inch arms, and 10 5/8 hands.

Doesn't specify an injury.

Brandon Brooks back at practice after scary dehydration incident
By Dave Zangaro | NBC Sports Philadelphia July 31, 2018 1:00 PM

Eagles Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Brooks was back at practice today after a scary dehydration incident that sent him to the hospital Saturday and kept him out of Sunday’s session.

On Sunday, head coach Doug Pederson said Brooks was out with an “illness,” but it was a little more than that.

“I came out here and got dehydrated. It was humid,” Brooks said to NBC Sports Philadelphia. “My kidneys weren’t functioning the way they needed to, which was pretty scary in itself. But got my numbers back down and wanted to get back out here with the boys.”

Brooks, 28, was taken to the hospital, where he said he got about eight to 10 IV bags of fluid put in him. He said he needed to go to the hospital because he was so dehydrated they had trouble finding his veins at the NovaCare Complex.
The Rest of the Story

****************************************************************************

Eight to ten IV bags of fluid??? If that is a correct acute resuscitation number, this would not be a typical "severe dehydration" seen after combined heavy exercise with heat exposure. Total plasma volume of the human body is only ~2.7-3 liters. One IV bag = 1 liter. This is the type of dehydration that you may see in conditions such as high output kidney failure, diuretics (sometimes contained in high blood pressure medications) and diabetes (sometimes the first signal of the disease). If the description by Brooks is accurate, he may have very well have more to be anxious about.

Pete Carroll says DE Dion Jordan has a “stress issue” in the leg opposite the one that had offseason knee surgery. “He’s going to be (out) a while.” I asked if #Seahawks are shopping for outside help at pass rushers. “We are always shopping.” @thenewstribune

12:42 PM - 31 Jul 2018 from Renton, WA

If this is a stress fracture, I suspect surgery may be right around the corner. Leg stress fractures don't do well with conservative treatment in football players that expect to keep playing after a short rehab.

Adam Bisnowaty Pittsurg U. OT, drafted in the 6th round in 2017 by the Giants, was cut by them early in the preseason in '17 and picked up by the Lions who waved him today.
If the Giants cut him so quick last year and he didn't last but a few days in TC in '18 with the Lions this is probably someone we have no interest in though I'm sure Gaine is closely watching the waiver wire for any OT prospects that bcome available.

Sounds like the kid is struggling early.

New Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has seven INTs in six practices
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24255909/kansas-city-chiefs-qb-patrick-mahomes-plagued-mistakes

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Patrick Mahomes made a choice early in Wednesday's training camp practice that the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback immediately regretted.

With the offense close to the goal line, Mahomes dropped to pass but had a running lane so wide he could have scored the touchdown himself. Mahomes instead threw into the end zone, where the pass was intercepted by reserve defensive back Leon McQuay.

"That was on me," Mahomes said. "I easily could have run in it. We were in a live period and I kind of didn't want to hear the defense talking trash to me for running it in because they can't tackle me [during practice]. So I threw the ball. ... You just have to play the game how it's supposed to be played [and] don't try to force something in because they can't tackle you. It's just something I have to learn from, and hopefully in a game I just run it in.

"That's the first thing I said when I came to the sideline: I could have run it. [The coaches] said, 'Then just do it. Don't train bad habits.' ... That was the play that needed to be made on that one."

It was a teaching moment for Mahomes and a mistake he might not make again. But it's not the only mistake he has made in camp. He threw two other interceptions Wednesday and has seven in six camp practices. Six of the picks have come during the three practice sessions in pads, when play is most competitive.

Is Patrick Mahomes just another system quarterback from Texas Tech? I thought he had the intangibles and measurables to be a good one in the pros. We'll see but so far he looks like another system QB coming out of TT and struggling in the NFL. The NFL Network showed him with his head down during a live practice. No confidence whatsoever and it's only a practice. Imagine him in a real game?

It looks like nothing so far, it's camp.

Overreaction of QBs throwing picks in camp is the same as the overreactions of pitchers getting lit up in spring training.. This is the time of year to work on things and see what works and what doesn't. He's the entrenched starter, kid can throw as many picks as he needs to.

Vaccario is trying out tomorrow; saw it on the ticker on ESPN at lunch.

Thank God, I'd rather play against him..Plus I'd rather have Reid not play for a divisional rival, that way Justin and his brother can freely talk and he'll have someone else to ask for advice during his rookie season.

I still can't believe nobody has snatched Reid up.

While I agree.. If he keeps throwing those picks when the regular season starts he won't be a starter for long, IMO.

If true, a 7th in 2020, there has to be more to this trade than we know.

Adam Schefter‏Verified account@AdamSchefter

Compensation update: Cleveland traded former first-round pick, WR Corey Coleman, to the Buffalo Bills for a seventh-round pick in 2020, per league source.

4:46 AM - 6 Aug 2018

Absolutely. He was drafted ahead of Fuller and while there was debate on who the best WR in that draft was (Coleman, Fuller, Doctson and Treadwell). Coleman was certainly in the conversation and his talent is worth more than a 7th.

Normally I would agree with Y'all, then I remind myself that we're talking about the Cleveland Browns..
