Jets/Texans preseason opener - GAMEDAY THREAD

The Jets don't seem to have a lot of confidence in Sanchez. Quick slant after slant, and they run on 3rd and 8.

Jam the WR, take away the inside. Force the WR to earn an inside move or push him to the sideline right at the snap? I'm just spitballin' here.

Whatever is the answer, we're not doing it.

Oh, and there's the obligatory OFFSIDES on Antonio Smith. Classic.

Ah. Thanks for educating me.

On the brought side, at least the Smith penalty was an offside and not personal foul!

If you jam the WR and get beat, your opening yourself to big plays and relying on S help. Do you take the 'death by a thousand cuts' slant or risk giving up a bigger play/.

Re-watched the failed Jacoby Jones pass play on 2nd down.

Schaub is pumping the ball, slapping it in the off-hand.

Which means he's not comfortable and not well-timed yet. He comes off field and he looks disgusted. He ought to be, too. 2 out of three passes he has mis-judged where his WR is at and where he (Schaub) should put it.

Mario looks like he's overpaid by about 13 million dollars... He better not play like this in the regular season.

I was afraid of this. I watched the Cowboy game the other night to see how their OLBs played. Half the time they ran themselves out of off-tackle running plays because they're always in rush the passer mode. It's happening to Mario and Conner Barwin too. Neither of them are making plays in the run game.

Leinart looks more accurate in his very first pass, right off the bat.

Granted, not a difficult pass play...but he didn't choke.

Whomever is playing center for us, tried to help out the left guard and then got seriously *****-slapped and left standing still on the side of the highway.

Was that our starter, or another guy getting reps at Center right now?

He needs his ass chewed. Leinart and Townsel were going to hit that slant and maybe even score a TD on that play.

So far, I'm really OK with Matt Leinart as a backup QB. He had two good throws, one poor throw, and an iffy throw to Townsel that I think was going to be a big gain had it not been for the center blowing the block.

Welp, time time to just keep an eye on the game.....saw the starters...can't really judge I guess on much on O since there are key injuries other than Schaub seems to be in mid hunting season form with some of the ducks he threw up.

I'm concerned about FB if I'm being honest no matter what the Jets were doing on D.

On D for us, MW...was he on the field?

Like Watt!

KJ on the field with the starters...I HOPE due to injury but still....

Other than that...I'llbe checking back in to see how some of the future insurance salesman are doing.
