This,
People make it out like he came with no credentials.
That's simply not true.
Agreed about the GM position.LMAO!!
There is NOTHING on his resume qualifying him to be a general manager! Your historical revisionism is hilariously misguided and is short on facts.

I didn't care if Easterby was fired or not. He had no power in the org this yr, so him being here didn't really matter to me. He did the job he was hired to do, clean up the trash in the org and help with the hiring of Caserio, who the McNair's had wanted to hire for yrs. His job had been completed down on Kirby.
The scapegoat is gone, who will be the new scapegoat? Remember the McNair's still own the team, so if things dont go well there will always be a new scapegoat. I'm guessing Lovie.
I feel like I'm probably not in a good position to really appreciate how good this is. I punched out right before or just at the time of his arrival and started distancing myself from the Texans for my own sanity. As nothing seemed to get better for years after I can only assume I was fortunate to have missed most of his time here. I honestly still don't even know what he did exactly. I get that he was one of those people that seems to make the place dysfunctional but I also can't help but worry that the "dysfunction" was in the building a lot longer than Easterby. Probably longer than O'Brien as well.
He was exposed pretty early on as a POS and yet he kept rising in the organization to become the freaking GM.
how is this man a POS? b/c he embellished his resume a little? Lol, chances are you know & are friends with lots of POS then b/c alot of people do that.
He's a POS because of how he treated people both in and out of the organization. There were reports very, very early on in his tenure that he was a fraud, a liar, a con-man and a backstabber.
The sad thing is alot of fans too ingrained in their sports radio 610 narrative will believe his exit from the organization is the turning point..& it very well may be....but only b/c that was around the corner as we finally have a GM who appears to know what he's doing & we are rebuilding right...... Not b/c Easterby was finally fired.
Lol, so you're running with the media narrative...got it.
Agreed, this firing won't be a turning point. The turning point will be when the offensive line and QB play improve.
I think we were trading up to take Lockett and Seattle sniped us so we took the next guy on the boardWho was responsible for the Strong pick?
Talk about a bust.
Whoever made that pick was an idiot. To think Lockett went 1 pick ahead of this turd.
Hold on there, I've never been a preacher man.Couldn't be any less qualified.
I found it to be a bit weak, especially how they tried to discredit Easterby's part in hiring Caserio. They also tried to make it out that Easterby and Caserio were not that close and didn't know each other that well. They worked together in New England, Easterby went to the ring ceremony and spent the evening sitting next to Caserio, flew home the next day and fired Gaine with the intent to hire Caserio. If it weren't for Easterby, Nick Caserio would not have become the Texans GM. Today Caserio has been relegated to Cal and Lovie's assistant in much the same way Rick Smith was Bob and Gary's. The Loop really tried to downplay all of this.In the Loop today was great. It was cathartic to listen since I have never hated anyone as much as BOB and Easterby other than Bud Adams. Must listen. Landry Locker and the OG John Lopez were nails.
I don't even know what media narrative you're talking about as I've been detached from the Texans since shortly after BoB got fired and I don't live in Houston. I wanted a full house cleaning in 2020, not a team chaplain as GM. I also believe the past and current players themselves who posted on twitter about the toxic environment surrounding the Texans that arose shortly after Jack arrived. This type of stuff never is publicly shared by multiple players or former organizational people in an NFL franchise, much less with their names attached to it. Yet despite this, still Jack got more power. There was smoke everywhere you turned that the guy was treating people terribly. When they didn't do a full house cleaning and Deshaun requested a trade (this was before all his horrendous behavior came out), that was my end point.
So no, I don't know what media narrative you're talking about. I only chimed in to wish those fans that stuck around well as I do miss rooting for the Texans and chatting here (even wore my old shirt today after hearing the news).
Otherwise the Cowboys are always hiring for their bandwagon.
Not a whole lot there…2 guys who already had it out for him going on a tirade talking about things he said to them that they didnt believe…they thibk He lied to them about….offering no proof…..at the same tine giving BoB…and themselves passes..In the Loop today was great. It was cathartic to listen since I have never hated anyone as much as BOB and Easterby other than Bud Adams. Must listen. Landry Locker and the OG John Lopez were nails.
Way off the mark. It isn’t about hiring a DC. It is about not being in a lawsuit for discrimination. That is why we have Lovie.
He didn't. He lied about who he was in Jacksonville. NE had a great culture because they were winning before he ever stepped foot in the building. How you go from character coach to negotiating contracts, to interim gm after getting Gaine fired. He was a snake and still a snake. I mean when he was speaking and stereotyping people is enough to know this dude is a snake. This,

C'mon bro. They couldn't even get interviews with coaches because JE was in the way. I don't have anything against Lovie, I actually like Lovie and the way he functions, but Lovie was basically a half court hook shot .saw a graphic while watching the Jets/Packers game yesterday that showed the Texans are 2nd only behind the Jets in terms of the good production they are getting from their rookie class. Thats pretty damn stout. I say that to say that our upcoming good cap situation as well as that stellar draft class….. Easterby’s prescence in the org didn’t prevent that from happening…so its more likely that his presence in the org prior to that wasn’t as detrimental as houston sports media would have you believe either.
Dude was just used as a scapegoat…b/c he upset the apple cart in that FO. and its likely that Cal kept him around despite calls for his firing b/c he knew. Hell Cal has alluded as much to it…the narrative being run about him in the media is not accurate…
I've stated several times that Lovie was a PC hire.
Maybe foregoing a dc was the deciding factor between Lovie or Pep getting the hc gig. They both fit the criteria.

I don’t know about y’all - but having Easterby gone is like finally getting closure from the fuckastrophe that OB, Watson, and Easterby created.
Finally we can close that chapter and officially go back to being an expansion team again.
I think you overstate the job he was hired to do and his success. You're on record that you knew Watson was selfish and not the person he portrayed himself to be. I don't think you have ever met Watson or spent significant time with Watson. Yet, Easterby, a professional character coach who interacted with Watson on a daily basis, didn't notice or warn the McNairs about his character flaws. Yes, it was the McNairs who signed off on Watson's contract, but everyone gave Easterby credit for the negotiations and the no-trade clause. Even on the day the contract was signed, it was Easterby at the press conference raving about Watson's character and his will to serve. Was he lying?^^^^

Leaving this MB for awhile is far more honorable than staying and whining all day everyday. You made a single point and it stuck. Others make the same points day after day after day with the same results day after day after day.
That's one point of viewI think you overstate the job he was hired to do and his success. You're on record that you knew Watson was selfish and not the person he portrayed himself to be. Also, about cleaning up the trash. Did he miss it or was involved in the hotel arrangement the Texans setup for Watson? How did he clean that up? IMHO. The only thing Easterby was successful at was getting undeserved organization power and money from the McNairs.
Slick Rick flubbed that one. Texans traded up with the intention of drafting Tyler Lockett, but they sent in the paperwork too soon telegraphing their move and SEA jumped ahead of them to steal Lockett away. Strong was the next guy on Rick's WR board, and he couldn't get something different done in the time allotted.Who was responsible for the Strong pick?
Talk about a bust.

Yep. If you can't get a college program to .500, you (should be) on the backside of you're coaching career. Innovative he is not.Lovie is a below-average to average at best HC. Once we draft a franchise QB this year or next, we need to hire an elite offensive mind as HC. Lovie can be a placeholder until then. He is nothing more. The Josh McCown potential nightmare is no more.
Believe this was about the time of year O'Brien got fired and Jack became interim GM. New contract came with that. The question is, why today, on a Monday no less, did the McNairs find it necessary to fire Jack Easterby?
We have Lovie because Cal overrode Caserio, who had told Jonathan Gannon he was getting the gig.Way off the mark. It isn’t about hiring a DC. It is about not being in a lawsuit for discrimination. That is why we have Lovie.
So you think Lovie is doing a better job than McCown could have done? I don't.
Hiring a failed HC is not necessarily a better choice than hiring a first time coach. Lovie failed miserably on his last job.
How much money is Lovie saving Cal by not hiring a DC? A concession to get the job?
Yep, he was fired on October 5th... a MondayBelieve this was about the time of year O'Brien got fired and Jack became interim GM. New contract came with that.
New slogan build a bandwagon and they will come!
Hopefully they will build the team right this time.I don’t know about y’all - but having Easterby gone is like finally getting closure from the fuckastrophe that OB, Watson, and Easterby created.

Who was he stereotyping? I haven't heard anything but him joking around a bit.He didn't. He lied about who he was in Jacksonville. I'm pretty sure it's everyone else who was "relieved"
