This is my opinion based on what was said and known. If Easterby was fired at the end of the year to wash away all of the BOB waste, Watson wouldn't have wanted out before the off field faults. He plays 2021 or serves his time and is the qb of the team now. Again, my opinion, if everyone is fired and Caserio is hired because he's qualified, which he is, Warson doesn't want out. Remember, he was having dinner with Cal, talking about the team moving forward and the vibe was good before the foolishness happened. They were interviewing candidates like Khan from Pittsburgh, then at the last moments, Cal and Esterbunny hops on a flight brings Caserio back and he's the gm. The only gm who didn't mind having Esterby around on headsets, in draft room, on sideline. IMO, if Easterby wasn't here, Caserio would be here as well as Watson and the team would be in a much better place.He's not the Boogeyman, but he did alot of damage to the organization internally. Again, just reconstructing it all. I think now with him gone, they can eventually interview and get real candidates in here who can move forward with Carserio. Personally, I still see Mayo as the next head coach post Lovie. I don't think it will happen until 2025 maybe. By that time, Mayo will have more experience as a dc and hopefully Caserio will have his qb in place

talented FA weren’t turning down coming to houston b/c of Easterby’s presence…lol..thats another pipe dream houston sports media sold some of y’all. FA’s were turning them down b/c we didnt have **** to offer them in terms of money (salary cap strapped) ….enough talent to really compete and the ability to win on the highest level…that **** wasnt in sight at all during the DW4 fiasco. Well that has sonce been solved and 2 of 3 of the other things i mentioned above will finally start to be reversed starting next year…

All this move really does is make fans & certain Houston media types feel good about possibly being “connected” with the franchise & FO again. Under BoB they’d been shut out and that remained in place while all the crap surrounding DW4 was still going on….Easterby just still happened to be here. Guys like pancakes & clown ass Lopez can now resume acting like they have a clue about whats going on on Kirby without looking as silly as they’ve looked in the past and the applecart can start up again.

The cap isn't anything more than a traffic cone that can be moved for traffic. They couldn't sign premium fa's, but most times that isn't a good thing anyway. Alot of times , fa's going to teams with the most money offered,but the ones peaking also want a chance to compete along with the money. If you're a bad organization because the perception around the nfl, its hard to get core level fa's also. You get those guys getting their last checks which is what alot of Texans players are doing. I do know around the nfl, they speak highly of Lovie because he's a standup dude. I think Carerio has done a decent job considering the circumstances and he showed me alot by not connecting himself to Esterbe.

Disagree. DW4 was out at his press conference literally thanking Easterby for whatever it was that he did in getting his contract settled in early 2020. That makes me think he didnt give 2 shits about the dude being there. Then over the course of that year when BoB is fired he all of a sudden pivoted and asked for a trade..But noone really knows why. Its SPECULATED that he did that b/c of easterby’s presence & influence or whatever but noone knows for sure b/c literally a few weeks/month after those rumors surfaced about him wanting out…..january 2021 the new then rumors began surfacing about the pending lawsuits….late january 2021 & the new narrative involving mama Mcnair.

i don’t think its that Caserio was trying to connect with anyone, the dude is just a stand up guy period and wanted his chance to do a job he was already doing….but whether people want to admit it or not he is connected to Easterby b/c both came from NE and both are supposedly good friends….& Easteby is likely at least partially a reason why the guy is here.

Remember tho his NE ties and his connection to Easterby is the exact reason why lots of fans didnt want him here. Just goes to show tho that things arent always how they appear on the surface….or in this case how media types want you to view it..b/c if you listened to those yahoos day in and day out, they would have had you believing that the NC hire was gonna be a “power-solidifying” move for Easterby and he was never gonna be fired….& Cal was an idiot yada yada yada. as it turned out, it was nothing of the sort.

sounds like a bunch of rambling about not liking the general direction of the franchise...mind you this tweet came 2 days after it was reported NC was going to be hired….& his “some things never change” tweet…and him liking a tweet from quincy avery talking about organizations being connected at the top and bottom…..All this nonsensical crap got psychoanalyzed by the media here to mean that he was talking about Easterby when its clear that if he was talking about ANYONE he was talking about Cal.

That didnt stop the media here from getting #firejackeasterby trending on twitter tho…b/c in their minds, with BoB gone, he’s the only one left to blame for the new problem of the beloved star qb now wanting out. They wanted him gone b/c they thought that DW4 would then reverse course on his stance when there’s no evidence that he would’ve.

Watson wanted to have a say in picking GM and HC. I don’t think he wanted Caserio. Rumor has it he wanted a person of color. He expected to be at the table deciding and who know who he really would’ve picked.

Also, Watson’s “alleged” sexual assault allegations still happened. The Texans wouldn’t have let him play a down with those allegations.

So we wouldn’t have Caserio or Watson in that scenario.

hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.....cackling hen........but a few quibbles here...

#1, Rootes copped to firing Palcic.....made a public statement about it and everything...which tells me there is something to this. I don't think Rootes would've let her go if he didn't think or believe there was something there...by all accounts she was good at what she did. So something had to force Rootes' hand in firing her.

#2, How does this "expose" Easterby? If it is indeed true that Palcic was messing around with Stills...aka a subordinate......Well that is an issue and at a minimum, she should've been reprimanded for it... if not fired like she was. Furthermore, i always suspected this backlash with Easterby started with the Palcic firing b/c up to that point noone had said anything about the dude........& the media came down just a little too damn hard and fast on a dude who by all accounts was a nobody....It was the type of response you could see someone with clout in the space could muster to go at their enemy ...........someone like Palcic. Furthermore, if she in fact was a "source" for the SI article like alot of us already believed, then that just validates what Easterby likely told Cal.........which was that she was a source of leaks to the media about the inner workings of what the Texans FO might've been trying to do over the years..things that they may have preferred to keep in house..................which again is yet another reason why Houston media types came down so hard......Palcic their golden goose on the inside was now out of the loop.

The whole thing just lends credence to why Easterby was kept around by Cal as long as he was despite the fan and media uproar for Cal to fire him. If anything it somewhat validates the dude in his role in cleaning up the apparent cesspool in the FO.

Exactly. In NE he stayed in his lane. BB would have smacked him down if he didn't. Do people really think Kraft would have given Easterby any power at all? Easterby hoodwinked Cal. Cal thought because Easterby came from NE that Easterby would be good at everything football related. That's like saying I would be a great heart surgeon because I volunteered at a hospital 20 hours a week.
 
I'm trying to keep my brain "simple" on this one. No more O'Brien. No more Watson. No more Easterby. All is positive going forward. Could it go off the rails? Almost certainly and if history is any teacher where the Texans are concerned it probably will but we're no worse off than we were in the beginning. We're only more aware of our circumstances.

For a guy brought in to "change the culture", including investigating rumors, Easterby failed miserably when he was part of signing the NFL's biggest pervert to a $111 million guaranteed contract.

Here's a self-professed "man of God" lying on his resume, spreading gossip, and back-stabbing. That's why folks don't like or trust him. He's fake as a $3 bill.

If there is one silver-lining to Easterby's tenure here, it might end up being his role in hiring Caserio. So props for that, and most likely the initial reason he was hired by the McNairs.

If he's so credentialed and experienced, we should see another NFL team rush in to hire him. :cricket:

The only guy i even listen to these days if i can catch him is ND Kalu b/c he tends to stay away from that crap. Supposedly connected beat guys on Houston sports...but national guys like Florio are breaking stories before these guys b/c they're too busy spinning their own narratives. MLB playoffs in full swing and The Astros should be dominating sports talk around here but It says more about them that they're talking more about an insignifcant figure in Easterby getting fired and trying to "expose" him than they are about their home baseball team going to their 6th straight ALCS....lame...we also know these guys have biases..

Wait a minute. The franchise changed, but are you giving Easterby credit for those changes?

1. According to Hopkins, he forced BOB's hand and the trade
2. Watson's off-field behavior is the reason he's not here
3. BOB was fired for a losing record.

Am I missing something?
