Houston Texans @ Arizona Cardinals, 7:30 PM **Official GameDay Thread** Preseason Gam

Man, you are Debbie Downer on steroids! Every single post you make these days is negative.

I was ready to give BoB the benefit of the doubt, but after hearing
the reports out of camp and seeing our first game against another
team my angst has been confirmed..

When bloggers are saying things like "Gary's worst practice looks
better than BoB's" you have to wonder..

I wonder what your viewpoint would be if the guy in your avatar had been retained as HC or DC? Maybe you're a little butt hurt and biased?

I think Wade is a great guy and a reasonable DC. Would not want him
as a head coach. I do believe that the only way we would have had
a 10 win team this year was to keep at least SOME consistency
of the staff from last year.

I've been on record as saying I though our best bet to win now
(with an aging AJ and Foster starting to break down) was with someone
like Wisenhunt (proven superbowl coach) and Wade still
in charge of the defense -- not changing everything at once, but
fixing what was _obviously_ broken in the offense.

Then, if the defense continues to drop off in 2015 you bring in someone
else. Pretty sure RAC would have still been available..

Personally, I have no real expectations for the season. I have dreams of 19-0 and nightmares of 0-16. I expect reality to be more in the middle.

I've been with this team since inception. Even had an invite to the
kickoff party and still have my 02-02-02 cap to show for it.

I am simply not as willing as you are to accept _yet another_ disastrous
run of years with below par football and a frustrating staff that
leaves me throwing crap at the TV and shaking my head every
weekend.

To have "no real expectations" tells me you are a lot more patient than
I am. More power to you. (It's a virtue after all..)

I can't go there with you though, It's ridiculous that this team has had
2 legit years since the beginning and the fans of this city deserve more.
Specially since we've had no problems filling the stadium and making the
team one of the most profitable in the country.

Someone on here nailed it earlier: expect ugly wins early in the season and the team to gel as the season goes on. I'd probably rephrase that to ugly losses with a win or two thrown in.
:worldpeace:

So what is your estimate of the final record at the end of the season?

Because I set mine initially at 6-10 and people scoffed at me. Now I
actually feel more comfortable saying 4-12.

If they don't get wins early, BoB is going to lose this team. This team is
not bereft of talent, and I don't think our pro-bowlers are going to
sit by like good little soldiers if our staff starts to show its inexperience.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!

I hear Seattle has a good bandwagon to hop on.

Way, way, way, way , way to much common sense and logic for this message board.... :)

I hear Seattle has a good bandwagon to hop on.

Seattle has the loudest stadium in the nation (and have for a while.
When the Texans were 2-14 the first time, you could buy a
second level ticket and walk down to the lower bowl.

They win the division twice and now everyone has an AFC South
champ shirt and flags flying out of their windows.

As a native Houstonian, I can say, with confidence, that this is the
largest bandwagon town on the surface of the earth.

And too many people here are "ok" with the inferior product the
Texans continually put on the field. That's why we are known as
a bad, and passionless, sports town all over the nation

Houston has always been a bandwagon sports town.

I don't care.

I'm not.

Have fun with those Seahawks.

I'd classify what you're describing as fair weather...Maybe that's nit picking...But I know a lot of people that are fans and want the teams to do well, but only show support/interest when they are actually playing meaningful games.

uhh no, that would be Miami...& I don't know where you're getting "ok" with inferior product...if anything people's expectations for this team over the last decade reflect otherwise. You want ok with inferiority go up I45 to Dallas...most of their fans are still living in the early 90's oblivious to what's been going on with them for the last decade.

I can run this franchise better than these knuckleheads,

I told you we should've gotten that guy,

O'Brien can't coach his way out of a wet paper sack,

What moron thought this QB was a good idea,

Never thought a draft pick could B-U-S-T in his first preseason.

C'mon, man!!!

Pre-game PMS/Bullwinkle warmups. :cjeremy635:

Check, check, check, check, check, and check. :truck:

I can confirm this.

I bought my season tickets in 2006, before the "GridIron" section was the GridIron section. & that first year, I would be at field level before half time.

I'm hoping for the same situation this season.

Do you have links to legitimate NFL bloggers saying Gary's worst is better than BO'B's best? I've heard the opposite about how they are being ran.

I think Wade is a damn fine person, but his defense was just as broken as the offense was last season. 24th ranked scoring defense...just sayin.

Like you, I've been on board with the Texans since Mr. McNair started this whole thing, minus the invite! :D

I went my first Oilers game in 1975. I saw my first Astro's game before that. Being a fan of Houston's professional sports teams will either make you manic-depressive or, after the doc's get the dosage right, teach you patience. :cutthroat:

I'm expecting 4-7 ugly wins. After last season, I'm not looking at the schedule and penciling in wins this year. And I'm going to be completely honest in my NFL pick 'em games.

I expect to see steady, meaningful improvement on both sides of the ball and a drastic reduction in dead ball penalties pre and post snap. If the Texans can cut down on those and have a neutral or positive turnover ratio, I'll be happy. If those differences turn into a dramatic turnaround in W's & L's, I'll be ecstatic.

In the words of Obama, "don't do stupid sh!t.

And you called HIM negative.

If Bill gets fired then it will be time to look at the owner Bob maybe he does not know who to hire for a GM and HC.

But I was being positive with my pessimism....:pirate:

2 legit seasons in 12 years, but still sold out stadiums and #5 most profitable
(fairly high on the merchandise scale if I remember correctly)

I love football and i'm a huge Texans fan & i represent them hard every year. I'll devote 3 hours to watching them no matter how bad they look and how much they suck. All of that said, I've only been to 3 of their games since their inception. I also don't have any texans gear other than the team cap.......which i buy every year. No T-shirts, no tats, no i-phone cases or anything.... and it's not because i can't afford it, i just don't buy that kind of stuff.

Does that make me ok with seeing an inferior product or am i one of the "enlightened" ones just b/c i don't spend any of my money to see them in person every week?

Basically what i'm trying to say is there's much more gray than black and white. Truthfully, the only thing you can really take as a fact from what you're saying is that people here love their home NFL football team and the NFL game atmosphere as a whole. But hell, the city didn't have NFL football for 10 years so that's understandable. In no way however does that mean that they're ok with losing every year....i know i'm sure as hell not.

If Bill gets fired then it will be time to look at the owner Bob maybe he does not know who to hire for a GM and HC.

That's where I'm at right now.. I love the guy for bringing a team
back to Houston. But OMG, he needs to hire a search firm or something
the next time out..

HAHA the irony!!

So NOW Kubiak has a better system than the new guy? So NOW Kubiak runs a better practice?

Spilled Milk is flowing.

That's where I'm at right now.. I love the guy for bringing a team
back to Houston. But OMG, he needs to hire a search firm or something

He needs to hire a director of NFL operations that isn't related to the GM. Let that Director hire a GM. Let that GM pick drafts....

Too early to consider Bob another Sterling who owned a team that never did much but if things do not change the comparison will be similar.
