And 2hat makes you think getting the contract redone when he was brought in would help? No way Tunsil would have been willing to just extend his rookie contract. He’s seen what’s going on around the league and if mid pack guys like Trent Brown are breaking records he knew he would blow almost any other contract away no matter what team it was.
Let’s say we didn’t sign Tunsil, what exac5ly were they suppose to do at LT? Davenport maybe or Howard, oh I know tell Kalil to put his skates back on he’s going on the line. Texans were screwed anyway they went, at least with a Tunsil they might keep Watson from being broken in half and have one good year.
Nothing. Nothing at all. The Texans got to the playoffs with pretty much the same record the year before and didn't get embarrassed nearly as bad as they did against the Chiefs. I have the benefit of hind sight now, because the season is over and the Texans didn't really do anything else extra so that trade was a complete fail considering the fact that there are plenty of other holes and not a first round pick for two more seasons and also a HOF wideout that is gone partly because of it.
People tried to pass off this idea that every QB turns into Andrew Luck and wants to retire when that was one of the biggest rare things we've ever seen. It was a fear mongering argument that really made no sense.
And the fact that O'Brien made that trade as the GM should have been the first sign that it was bad. His judgement should have never been trusted to do something like that. Look at all of the other things he has done since. He just keeps showing you that he doesn't analyze things well or look into the future. He just makes hasty decisions to cover his previous screw ups.
