Just curious but why does it matter what Easterby's job is if he is not signing the paychecks, the head coach or offensive coordinator? He can be offensive and not have anything to do with the game plan or the roster.

Game plan is a stretch, but the rest isn't. Why is he in the war room for the draft? Why is he on the headset? Why is he bringing in coaching candidates? Why is he shaping the roster by suggesting certain players aren't right for the "culture". He is the culture coach, whatever the hell that means.

Constant flipping between 610, 790 and 97.5. I find myself listening to 790 more b/c of Salisbury's level headed takes..but as i said i have to flip from time to time b/c of that tool on with him & i just find myself steering away from 610 more & more b/c of Seth Payne laughing at his own jokes all the time. 97.5...John's an idiot nuff said.

1. Texans have several in war room and may want him to have that experience.

2.Headset is a puzzler but perhaps he is just gathering information for Cal?

3. He knows people and at least he is not homeless. LOL

4. If he is the culture coach why would it not be part of his job to suggest certain people that he thinks meet the culture criteria that Janice wants?

That's exactly what I do for the same reasons. As others have mentioned I just find myself listening to sports radio maybe 1% of how much I used to.

1. There are alot of people in the war room, can you honestly say what all of them do and if they need to be there?

2. again lots of people on headsets, long as he's not calling plays and is just listening who cares.

3. Let him bring them in again as long as he doesn't have final say. You never know where a good candidate will come from and he has been around the NFL a long time and prior to the SI article everything from before that was all good things.

4. Really? You're going to talk about the Texans suddenly having someone shaping the roster? Because before they went after nothing but good players regardless of if they were a good person right. :sarcasm:

Keep trying to convince yourself (not for anyone in particular) but I've got another POV. It's all good. None of us know - we can only take what is seen and make assumptions.

Yeah, I guess. NFL franchises are not like most Fortune 500 companies, though. I also checked and literally none of them, with the exception of the Texans, mentions a front office executive in charge of "culture".

Why is that such a high priority when it is usually the result of a good head coach and winning? They are trying to manufacture something that comes naturally to successful franchises.

It just seems fake and something a marketing-first company would pursue. JMO

John McClain is also pushing the McCown angle. I heard him again this morning saying that he's convinced this is their next HC.

It is what it is, man. We connect dots and add our own cynical, sarcastic perspectives and that's obviously not everyone's cup of tea.

It's not gonna' stop me, though. We've paid our dues as Houston football fans, and opinions are a small sign that we still give a crap. Not that any of it matters. These billionaire team owners are going to do what they want to do regardless of how their actions are perceived.

And there in lies the point, I’ve said all along that almost everything the Texans have done over the last 20 years makes complete sense if you view them as a corporation and not as a football team. The McNairs at the end of the day are company people, it’s how they made their fortune, it’s what they know and it’s what they are comfortable with.

I think Caserio is making some changes as he strikes me as a football guy and not a company guy. Not saying he will do a good job, jury is still out, but you can tell he’s been in the football world not the corporate world. However there will still be left overs from the corporate world as long as the McNairs own it and an emphasis on culture is art of that world.

Caserio worked at Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor before joining the Pats. He’s well versed in how to conduct business in the corporate world. So he should be fine navigating the McNairs. And hopefully he’ll be good in translating their boardroom way of doing things to football savy moves.

Maybe we get him as HC, McCown as OC to step into the HC role if/when the team is ready to take the next step and that's what they've wanted? DC? Hopefully not Gregg Williams.

So, I guess we can all breathe again. Gannon as the new HC for the home team is exciting! Now, I’m anxious cause I hope they pick the right guys at OC and DC for him. I’d love it if Pep moved to OC, but it just might be McCown who gets the job. That’s assuming that the Texans want him here as bad as the reports say.

OK, I see, on my computer, you edited your comment, which I originally read on my phone.

But to be clear, Aaron Wilson tweeted on Jan 22, 2021 that McCown had been interviewed by the Texans.

It was pretty hard to find. Every time I googled for the Jan '21 interview, Google had pages and pages of the Jan '22 interview. I eventually found this Twit on my phone (I'm currently on my computer) The twit was by Aaron Wilson, Jan 22, 2021, 3:39 pm. Wilson also reported that the Texans had also interviewed Jim Caldwell.

Caserio was hired by the Texans on Jan 07.

His name is picking up steam in Minnesota as HC.

If we go Gannon I would look at Kevin Patullo for OC. He is the passing game coordinator for Philly, but he has been around Gannon for the past 4 or so years (both came from Indy). Might be someone to watch as getting promoted to OC here. Not advocating for him, as I have no idea if he is good, just trying to connect the dots.

Ok, gotcha. I don't think there would be an uproar if it was Gannon. Sure Flores has more experience even before he became the DC. O mean if the Texans are in rebuild mode, look at what he did in Miami while in rebuild mode. It makes too much sense which means Texans probably doesn't do it.

It's been mixed. Total defense: 8th...passing yds per game: 6th.....rushing yds per game:8th. But when you broke the stats into more individual categories, they faired more poorly. I haven't looked into the complaints. Basically he had a bend but not break defense.
