So what if that's true? That makes no difference whatsoever. There isn't even an argument for how this HELPS THE TEAM, not you the fan, the team.
Maybe it's not about the team for him...

At the end of the day this is likely to happen. Why not embrace it? People can oppose it all they want but there's a very good chance the Houston Texans will appear on 2015 Hard Knocks. You can choose to watch the show or not watch the show. For me personally, I'm not going to miss a second of it.So what if that's true? That makes no difference whatsoever. I'll watch it if it's on, but that's absolutely not the point! At the end of the day this is likely to happen. Why not embrace it? Hopefully the Texans never appear on the show.
Being on Hard Knocks isn't going to change my opinion about how good I believe the team can become this upcoming season. I already predicted an 11-5 record for the Texans in 2015, and I wouldn't change my opinion unless we suffered a lot of unfortunate injuries to our best players. Unlike most people I'm not a doom and gloom guy. So any possible distractions that people are worrying about isn't even something I like to dwell on. If it were up to me and I were a billionaire, I would create a 24-7 Houston Texans Network channel, so that I could watch Houston Texans news all day and night. Being featured on Hard Knocks isn't all that big of a concern to me. I only look at the positives.
When has there ever been a real legit contender on the show? 2010 when the JETS went to the AFCCG, doesn't always mean your team will be terrible

I'm curious, what possible benefit do you see for the Texans? Or is it more for selfish reasons of being able to be a fly on the wall (not meant disparaging).

You can easily access the show on-line if you don't have HBO. I remember watching every episode on-line, for free, at HBO.com when my digital cable was down a few summers ago. Anything with the Houston Texans is worth a watch regardless of what it is. I've been suffering over the years watching teams I don't even care about appear on the show and I still enjoyed it.
This is all a bunch of piss and vinegar about nothing. O'Brien isn't going to play along with this, even if the NFL forces it on the team. Expect it to be the worst season of Hard Knocks ever if it happens.
Yeah, you would think . . you would think . . that McNair would honor OB's feelings about it. I just can't imagine him wanting to have anything to do with it.
We're one of the teams that cannot refuse the show.
OTOH - if they step up and volunteer to be the one I am sure it will be with OB's blessing.
Why can't we refuse?
Who did we piss off?
And would it be with O'Brien's "blessing" or disgusted acceptance?
we don't have a new coach and didn't make the playoffs
I think someone mentioned there are 9 teams that can be forced to it this year if no one volunteers and we're one of those
Really..?
well....

It's entertainment. I find hard knocks entertaining and I'd be super interested to see the Texans on it.
I didnt say anything about it benefitting the Texans. Really don't care if others don't want the on it either. They'll either be on it or they won't and if they are and hard knocks is the reason they have a bad season then shame on them.
I see DJ and his wonder dog as stars on HK.
I could care less about it. They've never had a good team on so its coincidental that no team on the show went to the playoffs that year
The Bengals did.
Browns turned it down, so maybe it will be Texans.
Don't really care either way except that if it happens I have to subscribe to whatever channel it comes on.
The Browns can't turn it down.
So you just read the headline, huh?
Yeah misleading headline. Basically they just elected to not volunteer
C'mon people, same difference.
Do you really think the NFL would ever force a team to participate?
Get real ...

A source in the room told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport the league passed a rule Tuesday during the NFL Fall Meeting that will compel one team per year to participate in the HBO/NFL Films joint venture, "Hard Knocks."
The league still will ask for volunteers. If one is not forthcoming, a team will be appointed. All organizations will be eligible with the exception of those that have a first-year head coach; teams that have made the playoffs in at least one of the last two seasons; and teams that have participated in the previous 10 seasons.
