Hard knocks baby!!!

So what if that's true? That makes no difference whatsoever. There isn't even an argument for how this HELPS THE TEAM, not you the fan, the team.
At the end of the day this is likely to happen. Why not embrace it? People can oppose it all they want but there's a very good chance the Houston Texans will appear on 2015 Hard Knocks. You can choose to watch the show or not watch the show. For me personally, I'm not going to miss a second of it.

I'll watch it if it's on, but that's absolutely not the point!

If McClain said we're gonna be on it then we're fine...

Seriously tho, if it happens I hope you enjoy it and if the team blows up like so many other afterwards, I'mma blame you

Being on Hard Knocks isn't going to change my opinion about how good I believe the team can become this upcoming season. I already predicted an 11-5 record for the Texans in 2015, and I wouldn't change my opinion unless we suffered a lot of unfortunate injuries to our best players. Unlike most people I'm not a doom and gloom guy. So any possible distractions that people are worrying about isn't even something I like to dwell on. If it were up to me and I were a billionaire, I would create a 24-7 Houston Texans Network channel, so that I could watch Houston Texans news all day and night. Being featured on Hard Knocks isn't all that big of a concern to me. I only look at the positives.

When has there ever been a real legit contender on the show? 2010 when the JETS went to the AFCCG, doesn't always mean your team will be terrible

Jerry Jones tried that in the 90's with the Cowboys. Then the NFL asked him to close his Cowboys channel once the NFL Network started.

As to Hard Knocks, I feel similarly to many others here. I'd prefer they didn't do it. But if they do, I will watch every single episode.

The first two seasons the SB defending Ravens went 9-7 and we're one and dine in the playoffs. The next year the had been 13-3 Cowboys went 9-7 and missed the playoffs. The Jets were a playoff team one season and basically repeated.

Why not watch it? Because it's just drama crap set in a football locker room. If I wanted to watch drama crap, I'd tune into Oprah's network or Lifetime. I want to see football. Now if they're going to show me some strategy sessions or all of the 7-on-7's and the 11-on-11 during camp so I can see the matchups. And maybe Mallett and Hoyer in the QB sessions so I can see who looks like they know the offense better. Now you're talking.

But Hard Knocks doesn't do that. It tends to focus on guys who might not even make the damn team. And tell me this, how will cameras focusing on 3, 4, or 5 individuals help reinforce O'Brien's "Team First" mantra? Seems like spotlighting 3 or 4 individuals flies in the face of that philosophy.

No thanks. I'll pass.

It will focus on Clowneys rehab , the new rookies. They'll toot JJs whistle as well. I wanna see who takes the first shots at Andre

I'm curious, what possible benefit do you see for the Texans? Or is it more for selfish reasons of being able to be a fly on the wall (not meant disparaging).

It's entertainment. I find hard knocks entertaining and I'd be super interested to see the Texans on it.

I didnt say anything about it benefitting the Texans. Really don't care if others don't want the on it either. They'll either be on it or they won't and if they are and hard knocks is the reason they have a bad season then shame on them.

It's not about the team to many posters. It's all about their enjoyment, even at the expense of the team. We might survive the INFECTION of Hard Knocks. But why take the risk. No gain for much pain.

You can easily access the show on-line if you don't have HBO. I remember watching every episode on-line, for free, at HBO.com when my digital cable was down a few summers ago. Anything with the Houston Texans is worth a watch regardless of what it is. I've been suffering over the years watching teams I don't even care about appear on the show and I still enjoyed it.

You enjoy suffering? I don't and I don't want the team I care most about to be underneath the lights of a voyeuristic public that is starving for dirt to talk about at the water cooler. I'm not interested in the public associating the Texans with the idiotic and obnoxious BS coming from DJ Swearinger's mouth or the endless stream of obscenities coming out of Mike Vrabel's.

Winning teams aren't the subject of Hard Knocks; the subject of that show are laughing stocks.

I do not want this to happen, but like others, will watch if they are chosen. Foster and his English accent has got to be good for a few laughs. Please Uncle Bob... NO!

Well, I always suspected that there were a few around here that actually value entertainment over winning. This thread shines a big spotlight on who they are.

O'Brien should :strangle: McNair if he allows Hard Knocks.

This is all a bunch of piss and vinegar about nothing. O'Brien isn't going to play along with this, even if the NFL forces it on the team. Expect it to be the worst season of Hard Knocks ever if it happens.

Yeah, you would think . . you would think . . that McNair would honor OB's feelings about it. I just can't imagine him wanting to have anything to do with it.

We're one of the teams that cannot refuse the show.

OTOH - if they step up and volunteer to be the one I am sure it will be with OB's blessing.

Why can't we refuse?
Who did we piss off?

And would it be with O'Brien's "blessing" or disgusted acceptance?

we don't have a new coach and didn't make the playoffs

I think someone mentioned there are 9 teams that can be forced to it this year if no one volunteers and we're one of those

Bingo.

IT'S ALL ENTERTAINMENT. Even football, as much as some folks vicariously live through their teams, is just entertainment at the end of the day.

So, entertain me. :tv:

I hope to the football gods that we don't ever go on Hard Knocks. It's stupid overdramatized crap IMO and is only a distraction for players. Hopefully McNair wises up and keeps us out of it.

I see DJ and his wonder dog as stars on HK.

I watch Hells Kitchen so when I initially read your post I thought about DJ Swearinger and Gordon Ramsay trying to coexist in a high pressure atmosphere. That would be more entertaining to me than watching Arian Foster answering every question on Hard Knocks with "I'm just trying to be the best teammate I can", which if Hard Knocks is forced on O'Brien that's what they'd get from most players on the team.

I admit I watch Hard Knocks. The format is always the same, which has been discussed here.

But the thing I've noticed, and this happens every single year, is that I see and hear things that dislike so much, I end up rooting for that team to lose every game during the season. I'm sure the editing has a lot to do with it.

Browns turned it down, so maybe it will be Texans.

Don't really care either way except that if it happens I have to subscribe to whatever channel it comes on.

C'mon people, same difference.

Do you really think the NFL would ever force a team to participate?

Get real ...

Participation is league policy.

A source in the room told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport the league passed a rule Tuesday during the NFL Fall Meeting that will compel one team per year to participate in the HBO/NFL Films joint venture, "Hard Knocks."

The league still will ask for volunteers. If one is not forthcoming, a team will be appointed. All organizations will be eligible with the exception of those that have a first-year head coach; teams that have made the playoffs in at least one of the last two seasons; and teams that have participated in the previous 10 seasons.

When they made this league policy in 2013, Emperor Palpatine ...err... Goodell was talking about establishing a formal rotation. Link2
