Game 7: The Greenbay Packers.....No Joke!

Good looks! Just fixed it

it’s funny Love missed some games and is 2nd in tds. You know what else he’s 2nd in? INTERCEPTIONS. 6 picks in 4 games
So... what your saying is... we need the defense to "spread the Love"? To help the Packers understand perspective.

"I thought it was bad when my QB threw 6 picks in 4 games.... until the Texans came along and forced 6 picks in 4 qtrs."

I'm tryin to be an optimist but man its exhausting... I need a nap.

Exactly! Hope stingley bought an engagement ring because Love is going to find him this weekend.

Ross did surprisingly well against New England, I know the rookie probably wasn’t the greatest test, but here’s hoping he can put up a good showing.

I do find myself wondering, if Lassiter is going to be out for any length of time, is it worth the Texans pursuing a CB via trade? Newsome in Cleveland is a busted high pick that might be a reclamation project? Sure there are plenty around the league who might be worth a gamble for a low round pick.
I wouldn't say Newsome is a bust. He played well last yr. This yr the Browns players have given up on Derrick.

I predict 23-20 GB! No disrespect to you guys. I’m sure you feel the opposite will happen and I respect that.
I'm hoping for the opposite. This isn't a great week for the Texans to travel and play a quality opponent.
We've been telling you... take Green Bay & the points.
You have to give points (3) if you take the Packers.
Culver’s.

I’m gonna go ahead and facepalm -myself- for knowing this.

SMH.

🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️
Tried those curds. Not a fan.
Win or lose, can we just not embarrass ourselves this Sunday?
Depends on if we switch from beer to whiskey at halftime. Make no promises.

NFL.com's Brooke Cersosimo takes the Texans over the Packers in a close one, 24-23.

Why Brooke picked the Texans: This game certainly feels like it could go either way, based on how both teams are playing in mid-October. And while I could dissect every little part of the enticing matchup, I believe these three factors will determine the outcome:

Penalties. The Texans (32) and Packers (27) are two of four teams with at least 25 offensive penalties in 2024. Houston is also the most penalized team this season with 51 accepted flags.

Jordan Love against pressure. According to Next Gen Stats, the Texans have generated a league-high 43.1 percent pressure rate this season, with opposing quarterbacks generating a league-low -67.9 passing EPA against them. Houston is the only team that features multiple players with at least 25 pressures this season -- Danielle Hunter (32 pressures) and Will Anderson Jr. (28) -- while Love has completed 18 of his 45 pass attempts for 250 yards, two TDs and three INTs when facing pressure in 2024. Love's completion percentage over expected of -12.2% on such pass attempts is the lowest in the NFL.

Can C.J. Stroud avoid turnovers? The second-year passer, who will still be without star wideout Nico Collins, has four picks and five giveaways this season, while the Packers defense leads the NFL with 17 takeaways.

The squad that plays the cleanest game wins this battle of playoff contenders. To me, Houston is the better team. But will Green Bay make fewer mistakes? It's certainly possible. I just can't bring myself to trust Love against that Texans front.

Not having Nico hurts in this game against a really good secondary. We need to keep our turnovers to no more than 1…preferably 0.

our back 7 is a huge issue. It’s the walking wounded back there, and Love is talented and while the Packers don’t have that one true stud, their WR corp is talented and deep. If Kraft plays, that’s also a problem.

I think the Texans best chance is to blitz the hell out of Love. Granted this is a very risky strategy, but he hasn’t been very good vs. blitz packages, and he’s turned the ball over. If we can do that, grab a ball or two…while limiting big plays vs the blitz…good chance to come out with a win.

I think trying to play it ultra safe is not going to work. We shall see what Meco decides to do.

Right now…favoring the Pack 30-23

Did you not watch the Minn game? That was embarrassing!

I am willing to bet top teams every year lay an egg at one point during the season. Take a look at 49ers or the Chiefs last year. Vikings are surprising a lot of people this year. To me that doesn’t fit the embarrassing narrative IMHO.

Embarrassing is what the Cowboys do week to week. But they had Superbowls in the 90s so that covers up for it.

Front four pressure is key. Blitz imo is not optimal because we have liabilities in the back 7 due to injuries. Need more bodies available in coverage to compensate for the lesser talented backups. Eric Murray AND Neville Hewitt are going to do a better job covering than just one of them while the other is blitzing.

That means front four needs to get home regularly with the pass rush.

I hope you're right!
If Texans win this one, I will be extra excited about our SB aspirations.
Sorry to be the contrarian among Texans fans but I think our team is atleast a year from being
a legit SB contender, which is why I see us @ 5-2 Monday morning.

Even if we lose I still will have Super Bowl aspirations.

Our #1 WR who happened to be the leagues #1 WR is out.

4 or 5 starters on defense out.

If we were healthy and lost it raise some questions. But I am not going into this thinking this is a test. No game can be when a team has significant injuries.

Overcoming injuries is part of becoming a SB caliber team.

I really hope Slowick doesn’t try to help the defense by trying to control the game via running. At the moment, the Packers have the 8th best run defense in the NFL, versus the 25th ranked pass defense.

The best thing Slowick could do to help the defense….give them a 14-17 point lead to work with.

This is the game I’d start the game with a play-action and follow it up with a no-huddle offense on the first drive. Try to get the GB crowd out of it early, and put the pressure on Love to play catch-up.

And being in the 7th week gives enough time for players to get healthy. There are 11 weeks until playoffs?

Part of being a team that can win it all is getting hot at the right time too. Ravens with Flacco and Jacoby Jones (RIP).

We are barely reaching the midpoint of the season to where teams are starting to shake the rust off and the pretenders are being exposed. Jaguars, Saints and Cowboys.

There isn’t cause for concern yet.

Green Bay has played:
Eagles
Colts
Titans
Vikings
Rams
Cardinals

The Eagles, Colts, Vikings and Rams all had over 100 yard rushing games against the Packers.

The Titans had 40 yards rushing and the Cardinals had 90.

I think Mixon alone could go for 110.

I would say don’t air it out too much go 3 and out and give Love more time with the ball since our secondary and LBs are banged up.

Respect the Packers but don’t fear them.
This is exactly where I'm at.

There's some clear things that they can pick on us with which gives me some pause, but at the same time we can do the same.

I'm worried about their play action attack but at the same time I think if we can limit turnovers we have a shot for sure. I think their defense isn't quite as good as they appear.

Yet another loud away building though.

Another test to see if we can (for once) show even a semi-smooth operation in a loud raucous away building.

Hoping we can. Especially since I got the day off work and can watch the game live.
