Game 3...Afternooner...Los Angeles Chargers!

Someone asked me to actually attend this game.

Imagine me spending a ******* dime on this shitty ass embarrassment of a franchise AND braving hours of traffic in this hopeless ******* hell we call LA AND sacrificing my ability to watch other games on one of the few precious football Sundays that exist AND sit in the stands in the heat with a bunch of dirty, drunk Chargers fans just to watch these losers dick around.

No thanks. No.

Tell us how you really feel! Lol

I think the stadium and the airport are both South of LA in long Beach.

So you could actually completely avoid the worst traffic around the city and just enjoy the beach and the game

Am I the only one surprised not more posting in this game thread? The Jags/Titans game tonight could have big implications for Texans. Who do you want to win that one? I see Tenn as stronger and even more if Ramsey leaves team. We could sweep Jags and still play Tenn twice. I like we play Colts after they play Chiefs.

Jags. Without foles they have no shot

I don’t think there are any “fake” Texans fans in here. It a forum where we can come in and criticize the team, vent, and also give credit when it’s due. Which does happen! Some just confuse this place with some type of blind Texans love/cheerleading website. Just give your opinion, reason for optimism, and if someone disagrees, have a debate. Don’t take it personal if and when someone disagrees with you and call then “fake” fans.

Yep. Just because I'm a Texan fan doesn't make me blind to their weaknesses.

Id rather be a "fake fan" than the used car dealer fan.

Oh no, good cars ALWAYS make that noise, it lets you know the engine is running.

Oh, no, fuses are supposed to blow, it lets you know the safety precaution systems are working.

Thats not a scratch, its a dirt storage unit attached to the clear coat and paint... free of charge.

Thats not rust, its an emergency exit.

If anyone cares first-quarter coming to an end Jags 14 to nothing

It's near Long Beach but the freeway I'd have to take is one of the worst and takes you right through LAX airport traffic and then some. **** that

Minshew has really impressed me with his poise and accuracy so far.

I think the Tacks win though.

He put his team in position to beat the Texans …. and then the coach made two mistakes.

Going for two I wasn't actually against , on the road with a game in 4 days but taking the ball out of Minshew's hands after the way he put that TD drive together … unforgivable.
Running the ball at the teeth of the Texans defense was …. Dumb. They hadn't been able to get anything on the ground all day … now you expect to get it at the absolute most critical moment ?! Yeah , Ok.

He's having his TJ Yates moment …. and could earn himself a fat contract.

I'll take his stat line for Watson Sunday in a W. 20/30/204 2TD 0INT.

Some people live in reality.

Reality is that this Texans team isn't better than middle of the pack and the Chargers are a pretty solid team with a quality veteran QB and is well coached …. and lets not forget we play them on their house.

Yeah , I'd say quite a few people would favor the Chargers ….

Chargers by however many they want. Rivers will have a field day with quick throws and Keenan Allen will go for 115 yds.

I'd agree with you if the Chargers were healthy and Gordon was playing. Also, if the house they were playing in wasn't a rental. I think the Texans have the talent advantage going into this game, but a toss up on whether they actually win.

Two things I believe will be what beats us this game.

1: The due the bolts have that will be coming after Watson, I'm not sure our line can hold them but even if they do will Watson have time to make the throw.

2: Rivers is an old pro and I think his air game is good enough to carve up our defense. We've always struggled against high level QBs and Rivers is at that level.

If Texans can overcome these two issues I think this is a very winnable game. Trouble is I don't think they can overcome these two issues.

Call me an optimist but

1. The OL is much better this yr and Watson should be able to make 4-5 big plays against a banged up Chargers secondary.

2. The Chargers OL is beat up and they will be missing Okung/Pouncey this week. The pass rush should be able to get enough pressure to make Rivers get rid of the ball before he wants too. Also if he plays Keenan Allen will be far less than 100%.

Offense vs offence could be a shootout. I think it comes down to which defense is predominant. I wish I had a better feel if Crennel will have a four quarters game plan.

I hope everyone is ok and your homes were spared. Humble got hit hard, but my wife, our little boy and I came through it just fine. Prayers to everyone that had I rough go of this storm and may you recover quickly.
Hopefully our Texans will give us plenty of reason to have a good weekend after a few rough days.
Go Texans!

Both teams have 2 RBs that have had amazing performances in their first 2 outings. Watson is going to have to have a markedly better performance this game than the other 2. If the OL is good enough to give him 3-4 secs, he needs to make his brain work and get the ball out by 3 secs......not look for phantoms for 5 secs. On the other side, the Texans will not be able to let Rivers park in the pocket.

Texans at Chargers: John McClain's scouting report

John McClain , Houston Chronicle Sep. 20, 2019 Updated: Sep. 20, 2019 5:55 p.m.

When the Chargers run

So far, the Chargers haven’t missed running back Melvin Gordon, who continues to hold out in a contract dispute. With Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson replacing Gordon, they average 131 yards rushing, including a 5.7 average per carry. Ekeler is the starter, and he’s rushed for 124 yards and a 4.3 average. Jackson comes off the bench. He’s got a 40-yard run that’s helped him average 8.9 yards on 13 carries. As a tandem, they can run inside or outside. The run blocking has been effective and consistent. Philip Rivers doesn’t like to run but will when he has to. Last season, the Texans were third in run defense, giving up 82 yards a game. Through two games, they’re tied for 23rd, surrendering 125.5 yards a game. They did a good job of shutting down Jacksonville’s Leonard Fournette. Now they’ve got to worry about containing two backs against the Chargers. EDGE: Chargers.

When the Chargers pass

Philip Rivers is one of the most durable and successful passers in NFL history. At 37, he’s off to another good start. Rivers is a pocket passer who can move around in the pocket to buy time to throw. He likes to throw the ball down the field rather than dump it off. Receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are acrobatic and reliable. Allen is Rivers’ favorite target. He makes catches all over the field. Williams (6-4, 220) is a large target who played with Deshaun Watson at Clemson. Running back Austin Ekeler figures prominently in the passing game. He averages 13.6 yards on 12 catches and has two touchdown receptions. J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus have to get outside pressure on Rivers. He can’t stand in the pocket and wait for his receivers to get open. They need to get some pressure up the middle, too, and that might come from inside linebackers Zach Cunningham and Benardrick McKinney. EDGE: Chargers.

When the Texans run

The team’s biggest surprise during the first two games has been the outstanding running of Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson. The Texans are fifth in rushing (153 yards a game). They’re second in average per carry (5.8 yards). Hyde has 30 carries for 173 yards (5.8) and Johnson 88 on 15 (5.9). Hyde runs better inside and Johnson outside.

The Rest of the Story

I will be happy if this game is worth watching.

It will be awhile until I get to watch another game.

Watched N.O., wasnt able to watch Jags.

I want a win, but all I really ask ultimately is for the Texans not to waste my time the games I am able to watch at least.
Same here, let it rip OB

24-27 texans.

Im only watching because of Deshaun. I expect O’Brien to make the same crucial mistakes that always cost us the game and I’m sure after we lose. After O’Brien fails to call a time out in a crucial moment, I expect him to say “we have to play better guys, we have to do better” same crap, same results. This is blasphemy. But yeah Texans win 27-24 on a late field goal

Dude , you'll get a dreary week of posting even if they win ...

What is it that makes us fans of the criminal frustration we get from the Texans? My excuse is if they're a Houston team I'll watch anyway. I'll probably be watching the Roughnecks as well, even if June Jones gets his wish and lands Manziel, which I really will NOT like.

After all those years of the Oilers and I'm still watching the Texans doesn't seem like something a mentally stable person would do. LOL

Took the words right out of my mouth!

They've conditioned us to expect failure … 59 years of it ? Somehow they manage to screw it up.

Ruining your Sunday's since 1960.

Chargers' and their OC (Ken Whisenhunt) are an interesting study. His offense is a great match for Rivers. He has penchant for slow developing plays that stresses the OL. As a HC, he has been fired multiple times for failing to either protect or develop young QBs and his OL.

He has been more successful as an OC than HC. I just find it interesting that a guy who seems to be a brilliant OC and play caller is so terrible when he is a HC and running the offense.

He did make a SB with Arizona of all teams.

My concern against the Chargers is they're a more rounded team than our previous two. The 'Aints are a mess if the defense is allowed to be part of the equation (were missing their d-line), much like Manning's Colts ... a shootout that we nearly won. Jags are a defense only team, missing 2 of their top 5 defensive players, and we got a gift of a 6th round rookie and referee help, and Fournette just being bad that day. I think the Chargers have a similar (maybe reversed) story. I think this game will be more of a "here we are" against a team who isn't as crippled and lopsided as our first two opponents.

Both have had close and exhausting fights their first two games, which always reminds me of 2012 - after two intense overtime games back to back, we just seemed out of gas and couldn't recover. There's a very good chance that one of the teams is drained and can't get up for the game. Being an afternoon game may help, or it may magnify the problem. I'm predicting either another down to the wire (good or bad to be determined) - or a disrespectful blowout. Not going to pick a winner.
