Alshon Jeffery would be WR 1B on this team.Yes. Jeffrey is good, but not even close to the level of Hopkins. Has no where near the speed of Fuller and when Braxton really gets going, and it looks like he has, he'll leave Alshon eating his dust.
I'm rather surprised Brax is behind Mumphery at WR2. I'm also surprised that there's no depth behind Newton at RT or X at LG. I mean no one listed at all. Could it be a mistake to go light on OL and heavy at RB and WR when those two positions are much, much healthier than the OL, especially OT?
Anderson is listed as the 4th TE behind some guy named Tomlinson.

In my opinion, I would not play Newton, Brown or Watt in this game. They will not be needed. Clark and Lamm are doing a great job holding up the ends of the O-line. Still will be serviceable at this time in place of Watt. All he needs to do is occupy a blocker. Mercilus, Covington, Clowney, Cushing and others will be way more then the Bears O-line will be able to handle. No need to play Watt and risk any further injury or aggravating his back.
This is just my opinion, but I honestly don't think we'll need these critical players in this game. Bring them along slowly and bring them in in a game that will require more talent at those positions. Like the next game against the Chiefs.
What ever happens with those guys, they need to seriously limit their snap counts. I wouldn't give either one of them more then 20 snaps each in the game, and put them in only when it is critical for them to help the team.I think it will be good for Newton to rotate in, he needs to get ready somehow and knock off the rust. JJ has never missed a start and his mindset won't allow that if the trainers give him a go he will play. BIg question is that they should make sure he does not do his typical 90% of snaps. Let him start to keep his string alive but rotate here too. CHicago will be his pre-season
Yeah, I hear ya man. The best three receivers in the league play for the Texans right now. I expect 1500 yards and 100 receptions from all three with at least 12-15 tds a piece.Fuller and Miller are young up and comers with very high ceilings. Jeffrey has pretty much reached his. He is a middle of the pack starting wide receiver. The only reason he has higher stats is because he's really the only threatening target that Cutler has to throw to. Even then, his stats are average. Out of the 32 teams #1 receivers he probably ranks closer to the middle at 12 or 13. Above average, but not great. I don't think he would beat out Fuller or Miller if he was here.
I agree... I mean Strong, Mumphrey AND Shorts... I mean Shorts version 3.0... he catches like 40 balls a year gauranteeeeed... He'll be signed within weeks of getting cut.I am not putting them on a pedestal so to speak. They both have great up side. For rookies, they are both way ahead of where any one of us thought they would be. When the preseason started, I was sure they would both be developing behind Strong, Mumphrey and Shorts. Now they are both ahead of all of them in the depth chart. That's pretty amazing.
So what should I do? Be completely negative? The Texans had the worst draft ever this year and Rick smith should be fired. All of the picks and free agency pick ups will be a complete bust. The Texans will go 0-16 and take the first pick in the Draft next year....which they will once again, squander. Bill O'brien, Romeo Crennell, Rick Smith, the entire coaching staff and front office will all be fired before seasons end.
Is that what you want to see?
how many did Fuller drop in these four games that he should have caught? Not disagreeing on Jeffrey.
It's a thread about week one. Go get a happy meal and quityerbitchin, old man!How the hell did a thread about turnover predictions turn into a roster, depth chart, college football, whose your mama thread? Geez people, there ain't no award for post count
Who cares about a post count? All that matters is how our Texans line up will do against the Bears in this first game. So the depth chart matters. And the turnover predictions are just a poll. Not what this thread is about.
As far as the U of H post, It was an update for our home town team. Who won by the wayl
Jam we are new comers around here. What I've gathered so far with some of these old heads/veterans of this board is, they are very particular about threads getting derailed. I'm not saying that's what happened here though big homie.
We haven't always been. It's a recent development. There are a few exceptions, the injury threads we generally like to keep them on track. But usually every thread turns into a QB or I hate Rick Smith thread.
Honestly don't know why JB got bent out of shape on this one. No way a "game week" thread is going to stay on track for 11 days.
Took me a few minutes to even see she was holding a football

It's really simple. If you don't like a thread or post, ignore it. I didn't come here to rub anyone the wrong way. Certainly not my intent. I didn't come here to take over, just add. I don't talk badly about people. It's wrong to do that. If you don't like me for some reason, that's your prerogative. It's really easy to ignore, or not read something to don't like or don't want to read. That's the problem with people like Jam. He comes in and announces that he is going to start a tradition. We had our own traditions. Instead of hanging around and getting a feel he wants to turn this into the board he came from. Of course that's going to rub people the wrong way. This place used to be dominated by realistic football talk. There were optimists and pessimists but it wasn't dominated by them. We used to mock boards of other teams with people who created posts like this.
The place was just fine the way it was. Want to carve out your own little space, fine... But don't come in here acting like you own the place, which is what Jam has done.

So what would you suggest? For me to leave this forum? Last I heard, this is Amerca. We all have the right to our own opinion. I'm not going to try to change yours, don't try to change mine. We all have the right to speak. Don't try to stop me and I won't try to stop you.Kinda interesting that you just up and disregarded what Texanmike had to say. Telling, even.

Again, if you don't like me, you can just ignore me.

The only thing I don't like about that feature though is that it eliminates the entire thread if that ignored poster started it. So even if you don't care for all the pom poms and pep rallies, if people do start talking about the upcoming game instead of blasting a poster for farting rainbows or whatever, then you don't see any of it, so you miss out on all of that. Any way to remedy that other than un-ignoring someone?
I do it because I like to. No other reason.I get where people are coming from on this. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with the people who have migrated over here from HT.com, but there are reasons why people choose to post here and not there. People just have their preferences.
Speaking only for me, I'm here because when people go on the net to talk about their team, they'll usually go to the team site first and I just find there's a whole lot more stuff you have to wade through to find anything worth a damn, as opposed to a site that isn't directly connected to the team like this one, where fans are in charge. It just has a different feel than the canned BS that is most teams "official" MBs these days.
And I'm not telling anybody what to post or not post, I don't give a rat's ass either way, but man, the position some people take with regards to their posting habits is a little strange. You want to post a weekly thread for the upcoming game 6 nanoseconds after the last game, fine. I'd just like to know what's the point of posting the same exact thread with the same exact posts at HT.com? Or however many other boards for that matter? What it is you're trying to accomplish exactly? I just don't get the need to do all that BS or feel like it's your responsibility. Your duty in life isn't to flood every MB you can find with the weekly game thread and daily reminders of how many days we've got to go until kickoff. At least I hope it's not.
That said, the people having problems with these threads, or whatever problem it is they're having, ignore is your friend. Nobody is holding a gun to your head to click on threads you're tired of seeing. Don't like a poster's sunshine and lollipops, put him on ignore. Don't like a poster's constant Kubiak is god, ignore.

If you think I seriously believe that Alshon Jeffery isn't as a good or better then anyone on our roster not named DeAndre Hopkins, then you're mistaken.
And that's cool. That's the whole purpose of a message board. Post and get response. And you're posts are good. They are your opinion and that's good.No. Nobody was mistaken. You gave your side in your words, and people, myself included, responded.

It served the purpose. It got people to post and talk. Including you.But you're full of sh*t to say anyone was mistaken. We went off of your own words.
