I expected the Texans to be either 5-4 or 6-3 in spite of OB.Did you think they were going to be 11-5 at the start of the season?
Could have been 5-4 if the Broncos didn't hand them the game.

Why would we need a HC at all?And skill players at all levels

Lots of folks had them finishing 9-7. If, IF this team goes 3-4 to finish the season at 9-7, that would suck to high heaven. What do you expect them to be at the end of the yr. I had them at 9-7/10-6

I dont have any pitchforks out and actually like the direction the team is headed for the 1st time since 2010.
With that said, I'm not sure BOB is the man to bring a championship to this city, but I do think BOB should get a fair chance to try with his personnel guy.
I'm glad you're optimistic about our future.
I just don't understand what you see in BO'b. All the talent in the world can't fix stupid. We're not the only team in the league dealing with the issues we have. But every week you see these other teams effectively managing them. Just your idea about three step drops... would help. Play action passes would help a lot. Screens... seems like we're the only team that doesn't understand that it's legal to throw screens to TEs & RBs
I mean the best Kubiak ever did was win 10-11 games and you seemed to be very happy with the job he did.
It really can't be that hard to remember going 12-4 in 2012.
You've got a stalker on hand, LOL.Go away
What do you expect them to be at the end of the yr. I had them at 9-7/10-6. That equals their talent level and schedule. IMHO Provided Watson stays healthy.
Could be 9-1 just as easily.
Also if he wins 10-11 games with this roster I think even you would say he did a good job. I mean the best Kubiak ever did was win 10-11 games and you seemed to be very happy with the job he did.
Now, it has increases a bit, due to Watt's successful return and the plunge that some other teams are taken.
12 wins is quite possible... if they keep getting the breaks.
9 or 10 wins was my original guess.

Or maybe the luck will even out and it's the Texans' turn to run into some road bumps.![]()
Hm.
10-11 wins would just be a number I'd throw out there in an argument to prove my point. Whatever that might be at the time. Bob can win 13 games this season but I'd be highly upset if we host another embarrassing loss. Notice I said host, alluding to the embarrassing loss BO'b already delivered.
We could go 8-8 & I'd be ecstatic & in love with BO'b if we roll through the wildcard & division games.
9-7 & going toe to toe with NE... with Osweiler as his QB, made me think we had a coach. Thought we had something to build on. But he canned Oz & we started all over again. & I think that's what peeves me most about BO'b. Five years into this & we're still at square 1. We start over every year.
Yeah, the league's going to pass you by if you're starting over every year.
Yeah, I know... Rick's fault.
I said I was going to lay off him for delivering 6 wins in a row. Maybe his coaching is affecting the team in a much deeper, more substantial way than what I can see. But I may blow something up if we have 3 or more new starting OLmen next season. If He wants Rankin starting next season, he needs Rankin starting at the end of this season. Then you got your rookie 1st round LT... Martin, Mancz, & whatever.
My point, we need to build & stop blowing sht up every year.
True
I dont think the Texans offense can put up enough points to beat teams like the Pats/Chiefs/Chargers.
This doesn't entirely have to do with BOB, the talent isn't there on the OL.

I would say BOB is doing well with basically a rookie QB.
I hope they draft 2 talented OT's that are able to start right away and draft a developmental OL later in the draft
To play devils advocate if we lose the Indy, Buffalo, and Denver game (as we did last year with those 'luck' type games) then this conversation is alot spicier sitting at 3-6. Yea I know "if IF's and BUTS were candy and nuts" ... i would like to feel like this team was a dominant team, and that the coach was at the forefront of that dominance and not looking for the exit everytime he's asked a tough question. Still reality is that the team stands at 6-3 and hopefully comes off the bye ready to impose their will on teams and not hope that their kicker or coach or backup QB hands them the game. GO AND TAKE IT!
Dallas was also a somewhat lucky overtime win
Lucky in the sense that we were lucky not to screw it all up. We dominated that game, but couldn't get a touchdown in the red zone to save our lives.
I don't understand why the bar for OBrien is always so low. He has a rookie QB, so we can't expect the offense to be good.
Every year he has an excuse for the offense sucking.
Is it not true that rookie QB's struggle? I mean look at this yrs rookie class. How are they playing? How are their teams doing. I think BOB has done a great job developing Watson. He hasn't had an int in 3 games despite facing massive amounts of pressure and he's leading his team to W's.
Sure they struggle . Doesn't mean the offense overall has to suck especially when Watson has been very good overall
I means they've got to fix the OL, so that Watson isn't getting pressure on 50% of his dropbacks and a new OL coach certainly wouldn't hurt at all either.
O'Brien hired the OL coach and likes him.
Yep, and the last 2 yrs the OL talent just hasn't been there. Do you like how Devlin has developed Davenport/Mancz/Martin when healthy?
While I understand the need for a better O-line I would also like to say that plenty of NFL teams want to upgrade their O-lines. We play a lot of those teams and they have no more of an excuse for some of their struggles than we do. I also can say that as far as I can tell the O-line has shown improvement over the last four or so games. Does that mean we don't have to address the O-line in the future? Absolutely not. We could stand to improve quite a bit. Based on the decent improvement I myself feel the O-line has made since the start of the season I am fine with the O-line coach. At least till we see how the line does with a bit of a talent upgrade. As of late our O-Line has been at least serviceable and that has to be attributable to our O-line coach.I don't. So I wonder why O'Brien hired him and keeps him on.

Much of it is due to formation/play call.
By all accounts, Swearinger wasn't a good fit with the new coaching staff.
"The new coaching staff would always worry about what I was doing or saying to other players," wrote Swearinger, who has four interceptions this season for Washington after intercepting four passes last year. "Well, the Young Swagg had a hard time adjusting to the new system nor did I want to play linebacker every play, and I also was late a few times too many. All a part of growing up & learning to be a pro.
"There was a misunderstanding with my DB coach that led to unprofessional actions by my head coach (O'Brien) that I could no longer respect! Which led to me being cut. That same coach told me I would be outta the league in 3 years. Unfortunately, my God & grind had a plan and knew that 6 years later ... I would make him eat his words!"
They really just need a RB and another WR if Coutee can't stay healthy. I would let Griffin walk after this yr and draft a blocking TE later in the draft. I'm very high on Jordan Thomas and I think Akins will improve. They are currently playing him at FB quite a bit.
TE is one of the hardest positions to learn. Look at this yrs draft class as an example. Hayden Hurst is very talented but how much impact has he made?

Hmmm .. the whole Case Keenum thing is actually more believable after reading this.
The need at rb is not to be taken lightly though. Sure the league loves its qbs & overall it has devalued the rb position for other reasons, but the position is still extremely invaluable to an offense. It's not a coincidence that 3 of the top 5 offenses in the league right now also have probably the 3 most dynamic backs in the game in Gurley, Hunt & Kamara. The Steelers aren't far behind with Conner........but had been 1 of the most explosive offenses over the last 2-3 years with Leveon Bell..another dynamic rb.
Meanwhile we have the barely average Lamar Blue...........veritable milquetoast as far as anyone else is concerned.
Not worried about TE, i like both guys & think that they collectively will be ending Ryan Griffin's career.....at least here anyway.
i wouldn't be mad at all to see them take a Damian Harris or a Bryce Love with 1 of their top 3 picks in this years draft.
What i'd really like to see them do is go after Mark Ingram in FA this offseason. He's come into his own over the last year in NO & might want to separate himself from sharing carries with Kamara & come over 1 state & be the full time guy. he'll be 30 soon...but he doesn't have quite the mileage on him that a full-time back would.

It's probably true that BOB told Keemun the best he would be here was 3rd string.
It's interesting how people keep defending O'Brien against these awful and mean ex players. Independently making excuses why it couldn't be true what OBrien may have said. I think it's a pattern of behavior and I can deal with a ******** coach as long as he wins. No sympathy for that type of person when they can't perform their function.
Notice that Gurley/Kamara/Hunt play for teams that have invested highly in their OL's.
Saints, yes. Rams and Chiefs?

What that dude failed to understand is it took those teams years. Last year the Saints Oline was not good. The year before that it was even worse. Breezy is very good at getting the ball out fast. They also went hurry up a lot when the oline wasn't up to par.

We have three offensive linemen starting in the league right now that used to be Texans... Brooks, Ben Jones, XSF (due to injury but he looked a whole lot better there than he ever did here)...
That's a solid interior line (if we could get XSF to consistently play like he did this past weekend) to me that means we could have drafted a OT instead of Martin.
Heck, we could have started Mancz at guard, not draft XSF & had another OT taken with a 2-1 pick.
I just got off the phone with my father and law and he believes the Saints oline is not that good. He went on to say name the probowlers on that line from last season?

Hate it when that happens!Thank you for being able to take some smack talking and going back and forth. Too often people get sand stuck in their vagina and can’t have any fun.
