Diggs to Houston

When is schedule release

Hadn't been to NRG since last cowboys game. I bailed on season tickets due to OB.

This season I would think the stadium will be full every game

Based on past release dates, NFL fans can expect to see 2024 NFL season dates in early May, typically on a Thursday. Perhaps Thursday, May 9 might be the best guess at the NFL Schedule Release date.

There is a 100% chance that DeMeco talked to Diggs prior to this trade, asking if he'd want to be here and explaining how SWARM works, the overall culture, what's expected, etc. And Diggs signed off on it, or this trade wouldn't have gone down. Not saying the Diggs can't be a problem child if he isn't fed like he wants...but I don't think his diva act will work very well here. This is a good locker room with excellent young high character leaders. He'll fall in line, or he'll be gone fairly quickly...and no harm no foul in that case. DeMeco isn't going to tolerate a distraction for very long.
Low risk/high reward situation for the Texans. They got a very talented and productive WR on a 1-year rental if Diggs acts up. After this season, there's no guaranteed money on his contract. Diggs seems to be all in with a team in the first couple of years with a team, so I think it'll be okay.
I also think Diggs will be very happy with CJ since CJ is very good at distributing the ball. Hid #1 WR is the one that gets open.

If you think there's a huge disparity, look it up. 160 targets is a very healthy number.

I agree. Targets weren’t the issue, but the adot was… I am wondering how they will use him here. My concern is he takes Woods’ role and will be unhappy with lack of big play opportunities.

He would do great in that underneath role. He’s one of the best route runners of this era and is a true separator that can get open quickly. But how will he feel when he moves the chains and creates opportunities to allow Tank/Nico to make big plays instead of him?

I have not followed Diggs as closely as AJ Brown, however I do think their situations with their respective teams was similar. Both seem to be Alpha dogs who want to be targeted. They want to win and become frustrated when they are not getting the ball as often as they think they should and the team is not winning. I am not willing to agree at this point that Diggs is a troublemaker or a prima donna let alone a cancer in the locker room as some have indicated. I think he will end up being a leader and a vocal cheerleader as well as teacher of our younger wide receivers.

the role of linebacker on the Texans has adjusted and I think Ryans/ Slowik will do the same with wide receivers. Whoever is open will be the one that gets the ball. No wide receiver one, two or three.

I agree. I just hope Diggs is ok with that. I think Nico/Tank are the type who are ok with their numbers being down for the greater good.

As is usually the case, if the team is winning then it is a non-issue.

How many of those were after Brady took over the offensive play calling?

Pre-Brady - 10.2 targets per game, 7.3 catches per game, 86.8 yards per game, 11.9 yards per reception, 7 TD in 10 games.

Post-Brady - 8.2 targets, 4.8 catches, 45 yards, 9.2 YPR, 1 TD in 7 games.

For kicks and giggles, Bills were 5-5 pre-Brady, 6-1 after.

The Texans must have asked Keenum for his opinion on Diggs. If Diggs was a locker room cancer, then I doubt Ryan’s would have wanted him. I’m excited. :fans:
It's been 6 years since Keenum hooked up with Diggs for the Minneapolis Miracle. But only 2 seasons since Case and Stefon were teammates in Buffalo. As you said, I'm sure Keenum gave Diggs the thumbs up.

.

Diggs spent 35.7% of his pass snaps in the slot last year; 34.2% the year before. He topped 30% in that category for three of his four Buffalo seasons, surpassed only by his 2016 sophomore season (62.9%). Collins spent 20.1% of his time in the slot last year; Dell 28.7%. We'd bet on all three moving around the formation some. But Diggs could wind up primarily replacing Robert Woods (55.5% slot) and Noah Brown (39.3%).

Can’t wait to see this play out. Love the Texans ambition. I was initially ambivalent due to the potential decrease in performance with age combined with the diva factor but I do think we received a great value with the trade/contract. But I do believe that he has a couple of good years left and that he may be a bit humbled with 2 previous teams getting rid of him. Optimally, he plays a significant role as opposed to needing to be the centerpiece. GO TEXANS!! What an off-season.

If this was OB I'd agree with you but DeMeco has the respect of he entire league and I trust him to get guys around to his way of thinking. Diggs is far from the first diva he has dealt with and no way Caserio makes this move without Ryans saying "I can handle him."

Doesn't hurt that Diggs desperately wanted out of the bills and he's coming to a team with the hottest rookie QB in the league. Seriously listen around the league and everyone either wants to play with CJ or Jordan Love.

I think so.

But why would someone want off the Bills when Allen is a top 2 or 3 qb and have been perennial contenders for years now.

I don't know. I don't like the guy from what I've observed. I'll afford him the benefit of making it work and it's solely due to Ryans presence.

I do think this helps us focus on other areas in the draft. And that's a good thing.

Hopefully we don't sacrifice Collins to keep Diggs though if it ends up as a "one or the other" situation.

Diggs for Stroud will be as Kelce is to Mahomes. Stroud and Mahomes both have fire but sometimes you need someone almost reckless or willing to go over the edge to assert their will. But having a superstar QB with the right personality (Josh Allen is physically talented beyond belief but people still question his mental) finds a containment chamber for that fire and uses it to drive the engine.
If Diggs, Schultz, Dell and Mixon are on the offense for every snap, it will create nightmares for opposing DCs.
Swap in Collins and new RB for Mixon occasionally and I'd like to know how you gonna stop this offense.

Someone tell the silly wabbit in the powder blue suit that the round two that he referred to is in 2025. He said that 2024 draft was extremely deep in WRs wide receivers [implying that pick woukd get Diggs replacement]. At least he got that part right. A round two in 2024 would have been a good trade for the Bills. They didn't get a round two in 2024.

Called it

Texan fans mindsets will change very soon this upcoming summer. I get discussing possible regression from Cj but honestly… c’mon man. We always assume the worse and it’s understandable because we’ve had an incompetent franchise for a while now but when you have the right gm, right coach, right oc, right qb, your mindset tends to change to “how much more will we improve by than last season” Oh just wait.. Everyone with common sense knows Cj being on his rookie contract is our Super Bowl window and expect big things this summer and maybe the draft. I’m going to just sit back and watch. Listen to some of you guys takes here and there and maybe come back and quote this post

Far as Diggs behavior I wouldn’t be too concerned. For 1, Demeco will keep him in check. 2, this is probably the best team Diggs has ever been on. 3, Diggs is kind of like a mentor to our young players specifically Tank Dell and Xiaver Hutchinson. This is a fantastic signing because we don’t have to worry about receivers in the draft anymore. I’m feeling optimistic and I see us as the 2nd best team in the afc ahead of Baltimore and behind Kansas City. Props to our elite gm Nick Caserio

I believe they had a talk with him and made sure he understood their plan of attack.
Do you mean before the trade or after?

I'm sure the Texans hadn't talked to Diggs or his people before the trade. It's not allowed.

I believe Nick is as rational as most of us & don't buy what the media is selling. I haven't followed Diggs over the years but the little bit I read recently doesn't look as bad as what they're saying. They were losing a couple of games, he was open a couple of times & his QB threw an incomplete pass to someone else.

Man wants to win & he's passionate about it. We need more people like that on this team. He could have handled those situations better I'm sure it will be addressed when they talk about a new contract.

Not directly but indirectly. Diggs knows players on this team. He also talked to CJ at the pro bowl.
There’s a many ways to skin a cat Thunder.
