I'm thinking outside the box here but I seriously wonder if OB has convinced Gaine that his offense is fine as is, maybe a new WR in case of injury. The lack of moves and resigning of Henderson could indicate that OB might have sold Gaine on the idea that the Texans offense will be impossible to stop with a healthy Fuller and the addition of a solid WR from the draft as insurance.
I get your point and I do agree with you to a certain extent but there is another side to it as well. The "player sitting out" thing was mostly done by Bell and it actually didn't work out for him as well as he thought.
Foreman was good last year as well, but it seems like this year OB forgot what worked and went with something new to confuse the defense. Probably confused more himself in the process. If BO'b would have got the RBs more involved in the passing game I'd think it's possible he could have convinced Gaine that he's good on offense.
But our offense appears to be dependent on having that 2nf recieving threat be a WR.
Lamar Miller is a good receiver out of the backfield, at least he was before he got here. & Blue surprised me in a couple of games this year.
We seem to focus on what we don't got instead of making what we have work.
Yeah, I know TEs had to block. Well, put in a 6th lineman to block & put your TE into the pattern.

I meant Watson's rookie season and the season that just passed. This year?
We don’t know if they are sitting on their hands.
However, we can take comfort in Gaine and O’Brien being aligned and watching the other teams signings.
Things are changing on Kirby?

Meh, haven't seen many cases where an offseason winner became a season winner as well..
1-3, baby.the phrase of BillParcells, the head of football operations for the (11-5) Miami Dolphins and former Super Bowl coach, "You are what your recordsaysyouare."Dec 30, 2008
BP an idiot ? I think not.
We've seen the last two sb's have teams who were offseason winners, including one of them the actual season winner.
While still a matter of important discernment, it's not the taboo team building route it once was.

It depends on what is counted as an off season winner. For the Pats they already had a championship team so for them to be an off season winner all they needed to do was not change to much and maybe shore up a couple of dents in their armor. I will grant you the Rams did a very quick turn around but the Rams had the benefit of some favorable drafts and, this is debatable but not a debate I care to have again, a better coaching staff. For us to be counted as a "winner" we would have had to make one of the splashy signings.
If you look at it we really haven't lost that much. Traded Badger for Gipson and Kjax will be replaced by Roby. Honestly these moves don't bother me, both of those guys were good against the run but sucked against the pass. Wasn't it just a couple of months ago we all were talking about how we could shut down the run any day of the week but put a good QB on the field and they moved the ball at will. Now we have a couple of guys that are a little better against the pass for less money. Not splashy moves but possibly overall good ones.
Me I'm waiting to see what they can do in the draft. We have a great selection of picks this year and its a deep draft on both sides of the ball. I think calling this off season a failure two days after the no tampering is just a bunch of talking heads trying to get clicks/views because they haven't had anything to talk about for 2 months and their viewership was dropping. If the draft comes and goes and we still didn't fill some holes and shore up some weak spots then I'll call it a failure.
What's the Eagles cap situation right now, I don't think it's pretty.
If I were guaranteed a SB Championship I'd do it in a heartbeat.
If I believed I had a coach who could integrate a bunch of egos quickly, I might take a chance.
If I believed my owner would realize we have the wrong guy before we dig ourselves too deep hole, I'd bring it to the table.
Besides, it's not like we want to "win" free agency, just tired of losing.
Do you ever do concise?
What is about some people around here that reading more than a paragraph is so hard.
Can't speak for everyone, but I'm at work. Beyond that though, I'm willing to bet the same message that is delivered with 10,000 words can be equally, and more digestibly, delivered in far less. It's a message board, not a final exam.
Sincerely though bud, do you. Just offering a throwaway suggestion.

Hell, this team won like 8 straight games last season and has already shown that they could become really special, but nope!! Another standard Texans off season.
Just curious, was there anyone in particular you were looking for?
I was hoping for Bell but knew it wasn't going to happen. When news broke we were trying to land Earl Thomas I bought it & let my emotions get the best of me.
I liked the idea of Cole Beasley til I saw the price tag & figured we better stay out of that market.
Anyone in particular you had your eye on?

I'm at work to and if this reminds you of a final exam then your final exams were much shorter than mine were. Seriously though I use as much as I feel is needed to adequately get my points across. Sometimes that's a sentence and sometimes its a page. If its to long for you or you don't want to read them then don't. I find it just as annoying when people throw out short little posts that seem to mean nothing and add very little to the discussion.

Packers GM first choice that was hired while in a meeting with BOB

Hard to justify paying Blackson 4M per.
Ripped into Texans for dumping KJo and then turning around and bringing in Verrett for a visit.
I get ya, and agree for the most part, but the constant posting of the negativity here accomplishes nothing. Some of you guys just seem like you'd rather dwell on the negatives than the possible positives. I don't think the Texans are in the best position possible, and don't agree with how things have gone so far, but like you said, the Texans appear to have their QB, all things are possible from here on. Things need to change, but posting about what needs to change here ad nauseum will change none of that. Want to make a difference? Totally boycott the team (and get your friends to join in) in all respects. Don't go to games, watch or buy merchandise. Talking here amongst fellow fans (fanatics) does nothing to show your displeasure on Kirby.Something that @steelbtexan can't admit or follow through with because his wife likes going to games regardless of what he thinks. Are you in the same boat?

The reason why he schemed/plotted to get rid of Smith. He wants total control like Belichick
With all the news flying around on the Houston Texans and their two new additions to the secondary, it appears they were also in the hunt for offensive lineman Rodger Saffold. Saffold ended up signing a 4-year $44 million deal ($22 million guaranteed) with AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans. The Texans were laying low on their needs for the offensive line, but it is clear they felt Saffold was an upgrade somewhere on offensive line. NFL Network’s Mike Silver reported that the Titans beat out the Texans for the veteran offensive lineman.

Beasely would be a nice piece for this offense and yes he got overpaid, but sometimes you have to pay a little more than you should for a few players here and there. No team has a perfect deal on every player. Some players they have nightmare deals, some are bargains, and other are fair market rate deals.
The only safety worth the money was Collins. The rest got way overpaid and won't be worth it. (The ones that got big contracts.) Earl Thomas will likely be the worst one after those injuries he's had. No way he's worth that much. Tyron Mathiew isn't either.
Bell?? Jets will hate that contract in two years. I'd never pay big money to a RB.
Texans really need a slot receiver. Jared Cook is available and might be a nice TE addition.
What I'd have done is traded Clowney as long as I got pretty good compensation, and I'd be packaging everything possible for Olineman around the league. I'd knock on Arizona's door and see if they still would be interested in moving Patrick Peterson. I would have picked up Kareem Hunt as a free agent the first chance I had. Browns got a huge steal and a bargain there. I wanted Brown early on at OT, but once I saw how much money he was going to get I was out of that one. Way to much money for a one year wonder.
Where did you see $56Mil in guarantees? How long did it take Kubes and crew to get the line right? They weren't playing guys at lt, injury happens, then move the young guy to rt. Izzo coached special teams 1 yr and was fired. Devlin has been here for how long?
I think Clowney might sit the season if he’s franchised.
Or phone it in so much that he might have well sit out.

I thought he'd been franchised?
I still think he should be traded. Texans will not pay him the money it will cost them to tag him a third season and based on the current situation......they're not exactly thrilled about signing him long term. Just trade him and get it over with. If they wanted Clowney for the long term, they should've given him a new contract before it got to this.....the financial area where the Texans don't like to play.
Are you saying the Texans org is cheap?
They don't have the cap room
