ANDRE JOHNSON MAKES 2024 CLASS OF HALL OF FAME !!!

Yep it was me and I'll stand by it with strong conviction, Andre is the best Texan to ever play for the team and rightful first HOF in team history. Without even checking Andre played what?, 40-50 more games than Watt did? Longer list of memories and plays for me with Andre. Don't get this twisted up that I'm hating on JJ I'm not, but makes me sad to see people sleeping on what Andre means to the team and what he did here in the beginning, I been down since day 1 and don't forget ****. Can't ever put Watt over Andre Johnson, had he stayed healthy he could have topped Johnson's career but the injuries stopped that. Maybe if he comes back this year and is a part of us winning a ring that would get me to change my opinion but as of right now I stand by that Andre Johnson is the ultimate Houston Texan of all time.

It shouldnt even be a debate. If you have been a fan of the Houston Texans since their inception then Andre Johnson is best and all time greatest Texan there has been. Yes it is unfortunate that at the end of his career he went and played for division rivals, but he is and always has been A TEXAN....from his community outreach programs and his passion and love for the city of Houston, its people, the fans, and the organization...Dre will ALWAYS be the ULTIMATE TEXAN and he is deservedly so the FIRST HOF HOUSTON TEXAN.

Make no mistake about it JJ Watt will be the second and should be a first ballot HOF'er as soon as he is eligible.

FTFY

I'm still hoping JJ Watt's induction will be 5 years after 2025.

oh man the memories of noodle arm schaub....one can only imagine the number of TD's Dre would have had if he had a qb who could get him the ball w/o having to stop and wait for the ball to get to him...
The fact that he's getting in this early while other great receivers had to wait so long just shows you the amount of respect the rest of the the league/media have for Andre. They know the same thing we do..

I remember many times watching Andre clearly having the entire secondary beat by 5+ yards, only to watch him have to pull up a couple of steps to catch a pass, and then get tackled by a player allowed time to recover. Schaub was a very good QB (with limitations) for a couple of seasons.. and that's about all Andre ever had to play with his entire career.

Could you imagine if Andre got to play with a QB like Stroud.. Not only a guy who can throw it to any part of the field, but drop it right in your hands like it was handed off 🤤.

If they were able to transplant Schaub's brain into Carr's body, Andre might've had something. 😆

Agreed. Love JJ, but I got Andre as my number 1 also.

Waaaaayyyyyy too early take from me, but I think Stroud may end up surpassing them both.

Back then everybody use to wonder if Schaub's noodle arm, which caused AJ80 not to ever have double-digit TDs in a season, was going to eliminate his show at being in the hall of fame.... well I guess we'll never know

Quite pissed off today. Health issues are keeping me from seeing the HOF game tonight and might keep me from seeing the induction ceremonies. Diverticulitis with a perforated colon is definitely something you don't want to go through.

How can the two even be compared since one is a WR and the other a Dlineman - it's apples & oranges ? But for sure both great players, one a HOFer in a couple of days the other in a few years.

It is almost impossible to describe to outsiders the relationship this fanbase has with AJ. I can’t put it in words. The moment he came to town we adopted him as our own and he embraced us.

Most people realize he could have left early in his career to go to a better team and chase a ring. He didn’t and stayed here. The fans and city are eternally grateful to him for sticking it out with us.

The McNairs should have fired everyone involved trying to trade and release him. He should have ended his career here instead of freaking Tennessee.

I got back home in time to see Devin, P Willis, Peppers…and Andre. I thought all of them were great, but Andre stole my heart. He was the first superstar this franchise had, and will always hold a special place in this town, no matter how many years or decades pass. Andre didn’t just play for Houston..he was Houston. I was privledged to see every pass, every play, and every touchdown. ❤️

I loved that he didn't mention Indy or Tennessee at all

Favorite play of Andre's career was 2013 week 2 vs the Titans, days after my little sister was murdered in the middle of pure ******* sorrow and confusion and biggest mess of my life. It happened on a Thursday, I didn't sleep for a few days, my head spinning trying to figure out what happened, making funeral plans, dealing with everybody in my family falling apart. It was all building up to Monday morning I volunteered to be the one to go to the funeral home to see her body and decide if we were doing open casket or closed. I sat down that Sunday to watch a football game to catch my breath and calm down and breathe before I fell off into grief induced dementia. It seems trivial but would have just been cruel to watch of all teams the Titans team that sold me out when I was a kid beat my team that day, but Andre fought to catch that ball and held onto it even after they knocked him out cold to make sure we won that game. That was the one little window sliver of sunlight in what was the darkest time of my life, in that moment to me it felt personal like it was just for me like he fought and sacrificed himself for me, I'll always love him for that. I watched him fight his ******* ass off from the day he was drafted until he left here. He's always going to be my favorite player that ever played in the NFL.

I don't really think about [stats] when I'm calling a game," Kubiak told ESPN. "I looked at it. I said 'Holy s---. He had 273 yards receiving, you've got to be kidding.'"

"I was like 'Damn,'" Johnson said with a soft chuckle. "'Man, I put up 273 today. That ain't too bad.'"

I feel for you. I had 10 cm of colon removed from that. Perf'd colon is most painful thing I've ever been through and that compared to pneumothorax and fractured pelvis.

I watched the NFL Throwback highlight video they left out several plays, the big one was the one handed catch that beat the Titans in 2004 with a defender all over him in the end zone, one of my favorite catches of his, that was as big of a win for me as the first game where they beat Dallas. **** the Titans

And sorry but Matt Schaub should have never been more than a backup quarterback. When we went all in on him in 2007 I felt like that was a lateral move from Carr, and sure enough he wasn't any better than Carr those first 2 years he was mostly injured at least Carr was tough enough to start every week. Schaub was made of glass and we had Sage Rosenfells in 2007 and 2008. So what Schaub had 2 good years, 2009 and 2010? And he had a Hall of Fame WR and outstanding o-line, one of the best fullbacks, Arian Foster, amazing tight end, all of that completely wasted on a backup quarterback. Then the guy gets hurt again when we finally make it to the playoffs and we got TJ Yates. And I swear it was like he did his best to sabatoge that 2012 team we almost lost that Wild Card game to the Bengals because of him we won in spite of him. One of the biggest mistakes this franchise made that gets overlooked was making Matt Schaub our guy and sticking with him for waaaaaay too long. They never should have stopped looking for a QB after Carr they settled on Schaub and the guy was a glorified Frank Reich without the guts or heart that Reich had.

Going to disagree with you on some points about Schaub. Was Schaub a franchise caliber QB? No certainly not and no sane person would ever make that argument. But Schaub didn’t need to be that type of QB in Kubiak’s offense. It’s that system that sent him to the Pro Bowl twice. It’s the same system that makes people gush over Brock Purdy and made Jimmy Garapolo look servicable.

Schaub was good enough and didn’t try to play outside his limits for what the team needed at the time.

The fatal mistake Kubiak and the Texans made was not realizing Schaub was permanently broken after his lins franc injury. He couldn’t plant and step into his throws anymore and that’s why the wheels came off in 2013.

Had Fat Albert not broken Schaub’s foot, I firmly believe 2012 probably would been our year.

Imho Schaub was light years better than Carr. There is a reason he made the pro bowl multiple times, and while I know he was helped by the system, he played well within it. He was sort of in the Kirk Cousins lane. Kirk is probably better Mano e Mano, but the chasm isn’t large imo and both were helped by the systems around them. Schaub is the best Qb this team has had. And he was a victim of an injury there toward the end so I don’t blame him for the rapid decline. Watson didn’t last long enough to take that mantle, and while I’d place a large wager that CJ is way better when we look back on their careers, one year isn’t a long enough set of games to put him in the lead…yet.

Schaub got there by 2009 once the team finally started to grow up around him. And I wouldn't argue that he had a better career was a smarter guy that was willing to go home and do the extra work to be ready and wasn't bringing his dad along with him to everything ditching his team mates to be daddy's boy.

But still thought it was a lateral move at 2007 when they went after him, and look at his first 2 years compared to Carr the 2 years before Kubiak got here 2004-2005:

Schaub 2007-2008: 443/669(66.2%), 5,284 yds, 24 tds/19 ints
Carr 2004-2005: 541/889(60.9%), 6,019, 30 tds/25 ints

Big stat is that Carr played every game those 2 years, while Schaub missed 10 games combined those 2 years and we had Sage Rosenfella throwing to Andre Johnson, to me he was as big of a waste as Carr of Andre's career, dude should have been a backup his whole life. Carr also played every game the 2002 season when we had no o-line and rookies at WR and RB. I would love to see what Schaub would have done here in 2002 and 2005, probably worse than what Carr did he probably would have been on IR the whole time.

2011 too. They were 7-3 scoring 27.3 points per game before Schaub went down. Afterwards they went 3-3 scoring 18 points per game. That’s a huge difference.

Schaub does way better than TJ’s 48.5% percentage and 0/3 TD/INT against the Ravens, a game in which they lost by 7 with those numbers from TJ.

Still would have had to play the Patriots in Foxborough though who scored 32 points per game that season.

2012 they were scoring 29.2 points per game before the final 4 games. Foster was in beast mode, AJ was in beast mode. JJ was in beast mode. JJo, Quin, Kareem, Ninja … damn man, now I’m depressed. Still had to go through New England though, so there’s that.

Schaub injury wasn't the one people should be talking about for 2011, Mario Williams going down in week 6 when he was leading the league in sacks after Wade moved him to outside edge, that defense is scary good that year had he not been lost. I like the Texans chances in the 2011 playoffs with a healthy Mario Williams and TJ Yates better than I do without him with a healthy Schaub.
