Question: What is fair value for a bag of fritos & week old bean dip?
I would take a second for him and use it for Prewitt who has slipped to #130 for some reason.
Take a second in a heartbeat for Swag.

Has the bean dip been covered and in the fridge, or has it just been open on the counter all week?
A second, of course that's downright silly. But I'd say anywhere from a fourth to a seventh and I'd lean towards the lower end of the range ?

Swearinger has never fit in with #Texans' culture; too often been liability on field. If he's moved, decision has been building for months.
You guys are crazy. Swag is a heck of a player. I think some of you guys forget that last year was his second year. He was much better last year than his rookie season.

You have hit the nail on its head. We've already lost one starter from our defense. I'm no fan of Swearinger and have already stated that I thought my forth round mock choice would have a good opportunity to win the starting spot. But I don't like the idea of losing another starter. Safety would move to a priority need and we already have one of those to fill. And we would still need a #3 safety. Swearinger has value as experienced depth if not as a starter.Question is if we trade him who is our other safety ? Besides Moore we have no one else at safety.
I think you're low-balling here. We fans didn't care for his substandard cover skills but a team that's looking for a box safety, who was a starter by the way, might cough up a 3rd. If some team made a phone call and asked how much, I'd open at a late 2nd/early 3rd and see if they bite.
I think he'd make an excellent LB if he were a few pounds heavier. As a safety, I prefer someone with a little more range & better coverage skills. As the last line of defense I want a surer tackler.
As is, I don't think he's a three down player. He takes a lot of snaps for us & I think that is telling about the depth we have at that position.
Hello Landon collins!
Hello Landon collins!
Texans safety D.J. Swearinger had a fan in Steelers coach Mike Tomlin before the teams faced each other in Week 7 of the 2014 season.
It seemed odd at the time, and with rumors swirling, as noted by NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, maybe Tomlin would like to talk with Houston.
I really admire the way (Swearinger) plays, Tomlin said, according to a transcript of his remarks from the club, and quoted from Pro Football Talk. He plays with a great deal of heart and passion. He is consistently physical. He does a lot for them. He plays in deep defense. He plays in underneath zone. He plays man. He will man up against tight ends, running backs and even wide receivers. He is a participant in their blitz game as well.
He has a well-rounded game. He is one of those on the rise, young and talented type of guys in our league.
So we are hoping for a rookie to come in and start ? I'd rather keep swag
My feelings exactly. Swag was night and day better year two than he was as a rookie. I am looking forward to watching him continue to grow in this defense. Swag is getting the KJax treatment.
Sad thing is he wasn't even near as bad as KJ was in his first two seasons.

Polamalu retires, Tomlin loves him some Swaaagg......do it Rick.

I don't think Kj missed as many tackles his whole career as Swag has in just two years.
I don't know who made the pick Smith, Kubiak or wade but it was a bad pick for a second rounder.
There were games he didn't even come out on the first play and when your starting safety is playing LB in Nickel and Dime you know he can't cover ****.
That's his issue, right there. He can't wrap up to save his life.
Aw, can we dispense with the 20/20 hindsight bullshit for a change? He was projected as a 2nd rounder by everyone, and all drafts are crap shoots.
D.J. had 2 penalties last year.
I stand corrected. The guy has a nasty attitude (in a good way), but he is more of a thumper and doesn't seem to want to be a sure tackler which was make him so much more valuable. I just don't see him developing that part of his game.
And yet they're talking about playing him deep more (a comment also made by Tomlin).
I don't think he's great, but he's not as horrible as made out either.
The penalties/stupid play stuff is all out of 1 game (3 of his 6 career penalties - 2 back to back) against the Jags which was a bad penalty day for the Texans all around with 14 penalties. For goodness sake DeAndre Hopkins got an unnecessary roughness call while blocking a run.
Wrapping up baffles me as it should be easy to fix. I thought PFF kept a missed tackles stat - maybe someone with a membership could pull some comparison numbers for us. But at least there is some hope for a player who gets to the right place, right time in order to miss a tackle. A guy 3 yds away who is a form tackler isn't making the play no matter what.
I don't have a PFF membership but I do remember reading that he was scored as a bottom ten Safety in the entire league, and a lot of that had to do with missed tackles and the disaster that is his man coverage ability.
I love Swearinger's mentality. He brings a necessary attitude to the defense similar to Cushing. But the guy has to improve or he won't be here much longer.
