2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

I missed on all of the QBs I wanted. I would've drafted Richardson @ 1.8, Hooker @ 3.90 and Clayton Tune @ 6.179. I would've gone after Jacoby Brissett or Cooper Rush in FA anyway, so we'll see what the QB crop looks like in 2024. All in all, this draft adds a lot of much needed talent.

I'm guessing they try and find QB's that are very similar, so they don't have to try and change the offense every time someone gets hurt, and they have to change the QB.
In that scenario, Bryce Young is on the opposite side of the spectrum to Mills 😅

Mills can be serviceable with the same improvements, but he really is only backup material. I wouldn't want to rely on him in a championship game.

I wouldn't rely on him to make my cup of coffee. How is he even going to get to a championship game to begin with? Not happening.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there is "significant, significant interest" from other teams in trading for Chicago's No. 1 overall pick.
Rapsheet lays out that the Texans, Colts, Falcons, and Panthers are all expected to have heavy interest in trading up to the No. 1 overall pick. This is not breaking news if you've been following these rumors -- the Colts have been heavily linked to a trade up, the Panthers appear to be choosing between Derek Carr and a trade-up, and the Texans could move up one slot to secure "their guy," whoever that is. The Falcons being added to the conversation is new, but not altogether unsurprising given how Desmond Ridder played down the stretch. It certainly feels like something will come together for the Bears before the draft. (RotoWorld)

Interesting. Not so much for any potential trade up to #1, but for the teams who might try to leapfrog the Texans were they to trade down with Indy, Seattle or Detroit.

In this mock, I got Tampa Bay's 1st round pick next year. With the loss of Brady, I suspect their pick will be a high pick. How about this haul with four 1st round picks next year? With the offensive line solidified with the additions of Torrence & Schmitz & the additional playmakers, we'll know once & for all if Mills can be anything more than a backup in the NFL. There were a lot of trades in this mock & Jalen Carter (#15) was still on the board when I took Tyree at #13.

Let's go Indianapolis! Let's go Indy.

With Richardson’s stats…..I’d be trying to crush every interview as well.

I remember Tebow being a big and talented QB. He could throw and run as well. Tebow’s issue was processing NFL coverages. Richardson is similar….with running being his calling card. No thank you, someone else can be pie in the sky.
But knocking the interviews out of the park will give him the edge of being the best trash-talking QB on the field! :backsout:

Yeah, if for example Colts trade up for Young, hope others go nuts competing for 1.2 for their QB.
Personally, I can handle Young @ 2 with the risks involved there. But agree: If Young is taken @1 I'd rather trade back OR get Will Anderson/Carter (pending legal stuff) then move up from/stand pat @12 to grab the best QB left. I'd also be fine with no QB @1 or @12, but I don't think that's a likely scenario this year.
