Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma vs Nebraska, Sat, Sep 18, 11:00 AM CDT on Fox

Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati @Indiana, Sat, Sep 18, 11:00 AM CDT on ESPN

Carson Strong, Nevada @ Kansas St, Sat, Sep 18, 1:00 PM CDT on ESP+

Kedon Slovis, USC @ Washington St, Sat, Sep 18, 2:30 PM CDT on Fox

Malik Willis Liberty vs Old Dominion, Sat, Sep 18, 5:00 PM CDT on ESP3

JT Daniel Georgia vs South Carolina, Sat, Sep 18, 6:00 PM CDT on ESPN (may not play, injured)

Sam Howell, North Carolina vs Virginia, Sat, Sep 18, 6:30 PM CDT on ACCN

Matt Corral Ole Miss vs Tulane, Sat, Sep 18, 7:00 PM CDT on ESN2

very interested in seeing how Strong/Ridder and Howell play this weekend.

Ok I found our quarterback of the future but we have to wait till he gets out of 6th grade. University of Oregon has offered him a scholarship after he throws a 40-yard pass.

Graham Simpson is a sixth-grader who can hit a receiver in stride from 40 yards out.

The season seems to go from bad to worse for USC.

Slovis was injured on the first drive and is out of the game.

Week 3 Results: Corral, Howell, Daniels and Willis go to the head of the class.

After watching Mahomes vs Jackson last night, Malik Willis certainly becomes a much more intriguing prospect.

Week 3 Malik either ran or passed for 6 TDs and Corral ran or passed for 7 TDs and Howell passed for 5 TDs and rushed for 112 yards.

I haven't been able to see Willis. But I did notice that he has been sacked 8 times over the past 2 games. Does anyone know why he's getting sacked so much? Willis has only thrown 56 passes over the 2 games.

You can watch Willis this Friday night at Syracuse on the ACC Network. An away game and against his best competition so far this season. Should be a good matchup. The BIG matchup is Nov. 6th at Ole Miss and Matt Corral. Could be a decider game for the the Heisman Trophy.

Kedon Slovis, injured will be added when/if he gets back on the field.

Replacing Kedon Slovis with,

Brennan Armstrong, QB Virginia vs Wake Forest FRIDAY, Sep 24, 6:00 PM CDT on ESN2

WHY?

UVA QB Brennan Armstrong is second nationally in passing yards and passing TDs. Wanna know how?

Armstrong is tied for the lead nationally in attempts that travel 20+ yards downfield, according to Pro Football Focus, and ranks 14th nationally in pass efficiency on those throws, completing 14 of his 28 attempts of 20+ for 473 yards.

Armstrong is also fourth nationally in intermediate (10- to 19-yard) pass attempts, and is 26-of-33 for 479 yards, and ranks third nationally in pass efficiency, on those attempts.

Wake Forest D is killing Armstrong and destroying Virginia. And at this point I don't know what all the hoopla is all about regarding Malik Willis. Looks rather pedestrian. Syracuse has Willis under control. Against better competition Malik is kind of meh.

Armstrong is en fuego in the 2nd half. Virginia has made some strong adjustments.

Wow Willis has become a different player in 2nd half. Looks much better but he has some flaws that concern me.

As of now I really don't like any of the quarterbacks for 2022 draft. I will watch more of Armstrong.

Thoughts on Armstrong and Willis.

Armstrong is much better than the team he is on. I like his arm, accuracy, he shows he's cool, calm and collected. Smart QB. Brennan Armstrong is NOT the reason why Virginia is losing games.

Willis turnover cost Liberty the game. Willis does not handle pressure well at all. Has high % accuracy but that comes from short screen type passes under 5 yards. MW is accurate on vertical routes. Hit on two vertical TDs hitting WRs in stride were wide open. Horizontal crossing routes accuracy and tight windows are a problem. Probably why there were only 3 - 4 of those routes. Most everything starts with a RPO and Liberty is more of a running team than passing team. From my perspective I think Willis has been over hyped. I see him as a poor man's Michael Vick.

The star of the night was Syracuse RB, Sean Tucker.

Corral and Howell are still showing some very strong promise from my perspective and I haven't given up on Armstrong, Daniel and Ridder. I'm not comfortable with Strong's knee, Rattler has disappointed. I thought Johnny "Football" Manziel was the most exciting college football player BUT after watching his 2 games vs LSU I knew he wasn't NFL material. I got the same feeling after watching Willis tonight. Slovis has self destructed.

As I posted some time ago slovis just did not do it for me.

This Georgia game is so out of hand and such a mismatch, trying to evaluate Daniels is like trying to evaluate batting practice. He's carving up Vandy at will.

Do any of these QB's have more potential than Mills has?

Are they more physically gifted?

Like I said, I like Strong alot and I'm starting to come around on Daniels. I get why you feel the way you do about Strong's knee. I would still draft him in rd. 1 just not 1-1.

I’m not sold on Mills, and I’m willing to see how the QBs perform the rest of the college season.

I’m keeping an open mind on the prospects. I’m curious to see how Corral will perform against Alabama.

I'm not asking about why you don't believe in Mills

I'm asking what abilities these guys have that you don't think Mills has.

Okay…..gave it some time and I have the guy I’m going to be watching closely as the season goes forward.

Pitt / Kenny Pickett / 6-3 @ 220 lbs / Senior / 40 Starts Since 2017 / Missed 2 Games Due to Injury Over Career

2021
CMP: 98
ATT: 132
CMP: 74.2
YDS: 1,342
AVG: 10.2
TD: 15
INT: 1
RTG: 195.6

Pickett was going to enter the 2021 NFL Draft until Peyton Manning advised him not return for his senior season……seems like great advice. This guy has matured into a pretty solid QB and may not need so much time to be ready for NFL competition. He has an NFL arm and body. Understands the pocket and makes plays on the go with both his legs and arm. He’s not Michael Vick but he’s got smart 4.7-40 speed.

At the moment…..KP isn’t high on the radars b/c the media is busy building up others. I’d like to see it stay that way and find KP still on the board come RD3 or RD4. That could be a steal. If he stays on his current course…..he may be a solid pick in RD2. There are some ares that need improvement but his physical skills cannot be ignored.

Pickett was able to pad his stats against UMass and New Hampshire. His next four games will separate the men from the boys and whether or not Mr. Pickett deserves to be in the conversation.

Sure stats can be padded but you cannot pad stature, arm strength, experience, short compact arm delivery, and pocket awareness. Pitt hasn’t exactly out recruited top teams in the ACC so it could come down to overall talent but his talent may be better displayed this season in the Senior Bowl, Combine, and Pro Day.

We'll see. Before UMASS and New Hampshire Pickett had a TD to INT ratio of less than 2 to 1. In college a good QB should have a ratio of > 3 to 1. Let's see what his TD to INT ratio is after these next 4 games sans UMASS and New Hampshire. We can judge all of those 4 game stats for that matter.

FIRST QB UP THIS WEEK:

Brennan Armstrong,
QB, Virginia @ Miami TONIGHT Thu, Sep 30, 6:30 PM CDT on ESPN

Kenny Pickett, QB, Pitt will get his first test of the season on Saturday versus Georgia Tech. GT is 2-2 but should be a decent test nonetheless b/c their defense is ranked 35th while yielding 306.2 yards per game.
