2021 Texans disarray or chugging along?

Most definitely, my point was his coach and situation made it very easy for him to grow. Having him sit his rookie year, being able to keep his offensive line intake , bringing in players to fit the scheme that’s being employed to tailoring his philosophy to fit the strengths of his quarterback. Bill O’Brien on the other hand is struggling with all of that. Hopefully it all clicks this season.

Really they are running the same system they ran with Alex Smith at the helm. That system is just far superior to this multi EP cluster of suck.

You don't know this

Mahomes is the more naturally gifted athlete.

I just wish RS had spent the 3rd to get BOB the guy he wanted.
And you know this huh?

No he’s not. He’s the better passer but not by much. In this offense behind that offensive line and only one true threat he would not be performing like he’s doing in KC.

Nobody expected KC to jump that far up like that.

Even if he did they wouldn’t be all that in this offense.

It appears that there would be a good chance that Seely's position could be filled by Tracy Smith who began his 2nd season as assistant STs coach with the Texans last season. He is in his 12th NFL season and has assisted Seely for 11 of his seasons in the league. This would likely be a smooth transition if it occurs, but there will probably be consideration to "outside" candidates.

Passing of the torch. We’re notorious for hiring/promoting from within.

There's one man's opinion

If you don't think Mahomes would be better you're kidding yourself.

There's a reason BOB wanted Mahomes

Big Ben knows how to run the EP offense and has the skillset to run it. We can only hope that DW4 can become as good as Big Ben
You love Big Ben the veteran QB. During his first five years, Big Ben held the ball too long, drifted to his right, led the NFL with 23 INTs and even was sacked 50 times. It took multiple OCs to get him to change his playing style. Based on your expectations of Watson, you would have given up on Big Ben after his 3rd year. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The only way the Texans move on from Watson in the next two years is if he moves on from them meaning he walks as a free agent or forces his way out via trade. If they bottom out after that and he suffers another major injury and they have a shot to draft a potential upgrade then you could see that, but it won't happen until they are picking in the first round again.

The Texans picking in the first round again? 2022, perhaps?

You can only hope that DW4 has the career that Ben has had. Ben's only issue was holding onto the ball to long. He didn't have accuracy/anticipation issues.

Here’s a little something to digest this Saturday morning. You will notice Watson, Mahomas and Carr took 2.82 (TT) Time to Throw. Dang they’re holding onto the ball too long.

Bro if you look at that data there are 21 quarterbacks with a TT of 2.8 and above. Lamar Jackson with 2.92, the Great Aaron Rodgers 2.88 and Russell Wilson 2.85. But hey let’s be ultra critical of Watson for doing it.

You forgot to mention how Big Ben is also not a run first, one read, slow throw velocity, small handed QB with a weak arm. (Like Watson)

Lol!
You thinking DW4 can be as good as Big Ben is what's LOL. You can only hope he becomes as good as Ben.

After seeing DW4 play for 3 years what makes you think he can other than fandom?

Here is a video of Big Ben doing all the things you love about him. Watch the plays where he holds onto the ball too long, drifting right, missing blitz pickups, bouncing off tacklers and making plays. Too bad the Texans don't have a QB doing these same things. You're welcome.

I can’t wait for another 6 years when OB finally gets the qb he really wants. :mcclain:
BOB will be long gone and 9 yrs in DW4 will be another coaches problem and DW4 will be eating up a considerable amount of the cap, with no championship's and it will be everybody else's fault but DW4's. I've come to accept this is how things are going to go down.

Of course I'm a logo lover so there's that.

I stand by my post and yes in today's NFL QBs hav to make 2-3 off schedule plays a game. They can't make a living off of off schedule plays though.

No because we are in an abusive relationship with ONE poster - someone on here just KNOWS they can be the one to 'fix' him.

He has successfully trolled the entire forum for at least a year - the guy doesn't like Watson, you aren't going to change his opinion.
So having a differing opinion is trolling.

If he corrects his weaknesses, which he hasn't done in 3 years then my opinion will change.

Continue on with the cum baya sessions.

It’s been longer cuz he was doing this exact thing to RS.

RS didn't do squat in over a decade as GM and you post this?

I expect that same fate from the only QB drafted highly by RS, (DW4) why? Because RS wasn't good at his job and Texans fans are going to have to suffer through almost 2 decades of mediocrity because of this ineptness.

Unless the Texans org (Cal) decides to move on which is highly unlikely due to the marketing aspect of the Texans org.

ALL Rick Smith drafted QB's -

2008 - Alex Brink 7th round.
2011 - TJ Yates 5th round.
2014 - Tom Savage 4th round supplemental pick
2017 - Watson - first round.

How much of Watson's 2019 production was against the undermanned garbage pass defense of the Atlanta Falcons, and when the Texans were getting destroyed by the Broncos and the game was out of reach, and he got those meaningless TDs at the end of a game he had no business even playing in at that point?

I'll give you the answer: 7, or 21% of his entire season's TD production, in a completely meaningless 5 quarter span.

So he had a whopping 26 TOTAL tds in the remaining 59 quarters of football. You think this guy is anywhere near elite? lol

Mahomes had a 51-7 run against a crappy Texans defense in the playoffs.

Does that take away from his greatness?

Of course not.

I watched Peyton Manning run up his stats against crappy Texans teams for YEARS.

Your argument is a weak strawman and is invalid when compared to every other elite QB's numbers versus crappy defenses.

Agree. How about Brady running up his stats against the Jets, Dolphins and Bills? Using KarlK's logic, we have to start discrediting Manning and Brady's TDs because of their division opponents.

Division opponents?! What are you taking about? Nobody said anything about division opponents.

Reread what I posted and then try to come back with some facts: like which seasons did Manning and Brady have over 21 percent of their production occur in a completely meaningless 5 quarter span?

I think you have mistaken me for someone who is interested in wasting time poring over Manning and Brady's stats to respond to a stretch of games when 21% of their production occurred over a period of time playing bad teams.

You post 2-3 times a month to trash Watson. At least @steelbtexan makes an effort to criticize him on a daily basis. Sorry, but I'm not interested in debating someone who I'm not even sure is a Texans' fan.
