2015 Texans Talk Mock Draft SELECTION

Status
Not open for further replies.
I just emailed Texan4Ever through the forum system and asked him to PM a list/choice to one of the group.

We're getting close to 4 hours, if anyone wants to try to begin finding a consensus pick for MIA we might need one.

For KC? He mentioned sending a list to htownfan earlier, not sure if that happened.

Assuming no list has been made, Jaelen Strong is the leading mock pick for the Chiefs so far according to Scout.com. Eh?

I think its pretty obvious that with Maclin signing they could use a CB or OL. I think Jalen Collins, CB, LSU makes a lot of sense.

Collins or Johnson.

At OL, they have a huge hole at C that Erving would fill. They have also been linked to Flowers.

I'm just going to go ahead and make the call as the clock is long overdue and it looks like Blake is offline.

Chiefs select Cameron Erving - OL, Florida State

1 (20) Philadelphia (beerlover) - On the clock (5-9pm)

1 (21) Cincinnati (mussop) - On deck

1 (22) Pittsburgh (Lucky) - In the hole

Big problem with this kind of exercise... commitment and availability

Emailed htownfan32 through message board system same. If there's a pick, we can swap out for undrafted players like the NFL does for late cards if it gets here ASAP.

Proxy Pick for Beerlover.

With the 20th selection in the 2015 Texans Talk Mock Draft the Philadelphia, Eagles select Jake Fisher, OL, Oregon

21(21) Bengals (mussop) -- On The Clock
22(22) Steelers (Lucky) -- On Deck
23(23) Lions (htownfan32) -- In the Hole
24(24) Cardinals (TexansSeminole) -- Get Ready
25(25) Panthers (RT22) -- Get Ready

With the 21st pick the bengals select Malcom Brown NT Texas and the Texans regret passing on him (when he clearly was the BPA) for the next several years. :kitten:

Absolutely great pick! Bengal defense would be terrifying for years to come with this addition. Teamed with Dunlap, Atkins and Peko would be scary

He has been severely underrated throughout this entire process. IMO he is one of the safest picks in this draft.

Underrated really? I've seen the overwhelming majority of people here speak highly of Brown and typically say he'd make a welcome addition.

Not talking about here. Talking about the main stream media. I think he is a top 12 talent in this draft. IMO he is right there with Shelton. I would have no problem with drafting him top ten.

I'm more intrigued by Brown for the Texans than Shelton.

Brown could easily take Cricks job imo

I really like crick. I was screaming for us to draft him and then we did. He has steadily gotten better. Still I wouldn't mind drafting someone making him more of a rotational player. And yes Brown could take his place but more likely Wilfork would take his place and Brown would start at NT.

There we disagree. I'd have Brown at DE, Crick rotating with Brown and Watt and Wilfork at NT, hopefully transitioning to Nix but if not with Brown and Watt at DE we would just need someone who is not thoroughly incompetent at NT.

If Wade was still the DC I'd go with Brown at NT.

Agreed. I don't see Brown as NT but as a DE. If your looking for a NT outside of Shelton I'd look at Eddie Goldman. Terry Williams should get a look later or as a UDFA

I like the versatility Brown brings. Would have him at DE most of the time, and pair him inside with Wilfork occasionally to mix up the look

Agree. Wilfork doesn't offer much as a pass rusher while Brown is a very good interior rusher. Line Brown up at DE and let him and Watt get after the QB while Wilfork does what he does best at the NT (stop the run).

htown's clock runs thru 9pm so he has the rest of the night to make a selection.

Well i guess we will see when we draft him. :fingergun:

Do y'all realize with Wilfork coming back from an achillies injury that he mainly played DE last yr? Picking Brown/Shelton is more of a need than a want. Wouldn't it be great to bring in a young NT to compete with Nix and learn the ropes under Watt/Wilfork? Unless you really believe in Nix, who I haven't given up on and think he can still be a player. If that happens then the depth and dominance across the Texans DL would be enough to make Luck crap his drawers.

Do you realize that Vince Wilfork was brought to Houston to play NT, not DE?

I think Wilfork was brought here to be a partner in crime with Watt. Whether that means playing NT or the 5 tech. Why else would they interview Shelton?

Goldman can play NT or 5 tech. Drafting him would form a dominant DL. I haven't seen the Chiefs depth chart. I personally wouldn't pick Goldman for the Chiefs and was just passing on info.

Goldman isn't a bad pick for KC. Put him at NT and slide Poe out to DE where he has more freedom to make plays and rush the passer. He has 10.5 sacks the last 2 years while primarily playing the nose. Imagine how much more productive he would be if he was given more opportunities to rush the passer.

Similar move to Baltimore drafting Brandon Williams and moving Ngata to DE (although that didn't really work out because of Ngata's injuries).

I actually don't like that Goldman pick at all. But maybe I'm only looking at it in comparison to the Erving pick, because I think that would be a great pick for them.

When is Detroit due with their pick?

Just got a PM from Texans4Ever saying he wants Eddie Goldman for the Chiefs.

We are already like 4-5 picks past that, plus they have Poe.

Are we switching this?

And how do the Skins not have 1 comp pick or 1 traded pick? Is this website I am looking at for their draft picks accurate? I see literally no exception to the 5th/6th pick in every round.

Goldman wasn't selected so it's only fair to change the selection if that's what the drafter wants, assuming Texans4Ever sent the PM before his clock had run out.

We need to decide sooner rather than later what the pick is and consider that Erving being available could potentially have changed picks that have already been made.

I am going to switch the pick. I doubt it makes a big difference.

Cameron Erving is available to select again.

21(21) Bengals (mussop) -- On the clock. 1 Hours Left. (Time up @ 9AM)
22(22) Steelers (Lucky) -- On Deck
23(23) Lions (htownfan32) -- In the Hole
24(24) Cardinals (TexansSeminole) -- Get Ready
25(25) Panthers (RT22) -- Get Ready

Should we allow Beer Lover the opportunity to switch out Jake Fisher for Erving?

The Eagles O Line is like 33+ minus a very replaceable young center and Erving has literally proved he can play any position on the OLine as well as potentially playing some NT.

BL loves Fisher so I doubt he would want to make the switch. He's a great fit in that offense as well. When Peters is done you could have Fisher and Lane Johnson as your starting tackles.

I apologize for the royal screw up on my part. I was having issues sending out PMs at work (TTalk gets blocked every now and then). The PM I sent was for future picks (after round 1) in case I am unable to make selections at work.

If the switch has been made to Goldman that is fine if not, Erving is fine to.

Sorry for the screwup

Mussop made his pick last night and Lucky had a proxy ready.

htownfan32 has been on the clock since 7pm I believe.
