2015 Texans Talk Mock Draft SELECTION

Status
Not open for further replies.
I know my draft wasn't entirely my own (had to bow out in the day 3 picks) but I'll also compare.

Bucs Mock:
1.1 Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
2.34 Laken Tomlinson, OG, Duke
3.65 Benardrick McKinney, ILB, Miss State
4.109 Javorius "Buck" Allen, RB, USC
5.162 Deon Barnes, DE, Penn State
5.168 Andrew Donnal, OT, Iowa
6.184 Terry Poole, OT, San Diego State
7.218 Cedric Reed, DE, Texas

Bucs Actual:
1.1 Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
2.34 Donovan Smith, OT, Penn State
2.61 Ali Marpet, C, Hobart
4.124 Kwon Alexander, OLB, LSU

5.162 Kenny Bell, WR, Nebraska
6.168 Kaelin Clay, WR, Utah
7.231 Joey Iosefa, HB/FB/ Hawaii

It seems like the Bucs and I had the same early mindset - get Jameis, get O-line help, and draft a LB. After that, we diverged. What we differed on - I valued RB higher, getting Buck Allen in the 4th while the Bucs waited until the 7th, and I didn't draft any WRs at all.

Very well done, another candidate for Kirby. Bucs absolutely killed it in 2nd rd. They know Winston has a much better chance emphasizing protection, giving him time to find his big weapons, Vincent Jackson & Evans.

My Redskins Mock:

1. (5) Dante Fowler Jr. (3)
2. (38) PJ Williams (78)
3. (69) Donovan Smith (34)
4. (105) Jaquiski Tartt (46)
5. (141) Doran Grant (121)
6. (182) Cody Wichmann (215)
7. (222) Terrell Watson (UDFA)

Total picks Added: 762
Total picks Added (where drafted): 754 (used 257 for UDFA)

Actual Redskins Draft:

1. (5) Brandon Scherff
2. (38) Preston Smith
3. (95) Matt Jones
4. (105) Jamison Crowder
5. (112) Arie Kouandjio
6. (141) Martrell Spaight
7. (181) Kyshoen Jarrett
8. (182) Tevin Mitchel
9. (187) Evan Spencer
10. (222) Austin Reiter

(# - Where I drafted in Mock) _____Name_____ (# - When actually drafted)

Apparently I need more work. Started off strong.

16(16) Shane Ray, OLB, Missouri - #23 = -7
19(51) Breshad Perriman, WR, Central Florida - #26 = +25
18(82) Clive Walford, TE, Miami (FL) - #68 = +14
17(116) Jake Ryan, ILB, Michigan - #129 = -13
16(152) B.J. Finney, C, Kansas State - Undrafted
39(175) Hayes Pullard, ILB, USC - #219 = -44
19(195) Ray Drew, DE, Georgia - Undrafted
35(211) Ellis McCarthy, NT, UCLA - Undrafted
40(216) Laurence Gibson, OT, Virginia Tech - #243 = -27
18(235) Antwan Goodley, WR, Baylor - Undrafted

17(17) Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford - #13 = +4
16(48) Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise State - #149 = -101
19(83) Hau'oli Kikaha, OLB, Washington - #44 = +39
18(117) Chris Conley, WR, Georgia - #76 = +41
17(153) Josue Matias, OG, Florida State - Undrafted
16(192) JaCorey Shepherd, CB, Kansas - #191 = +1

Did a little better for the Chargers.

1st Round Winners:
htownfan32 - Buccaneers / Jameis Winston
bah007 - Vikings / Trae Waynes
WolverineFan - Browns / Danny Shelton
mussop - 49ers / Arik Armstead
Lucky - Steelers / Bud Dupree

2nd Round Winners:
TexansSeminole - Cardinals / Markus Golden
The Pencil Neck - Broncos / Ty Sambrailo

3rd Round Winners:
Beerlover - Eagles / Jordan Hicks

Colts

29(29) Colts (Group Pick) -- Landon Collins, SS, Alabama 33 (-4)
29(61) Colts (NCTexan) -- Ali Marpet, OL, Hobart 61 (0)
29(93) Colts (NCTexan) -- Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB, Louisville 82 (+11)
29(128) Colts (NCTexan) -- Tyeler Davison, DT, Fresno State 154 (-26)
29(165) Colts (NCTexan) -- Tayo Fabuluje, OT, TCU 183 (-18)
29(205) Colts (NCTexan) -- Zach Zenner, RB, South Dakota State UDFA
31(207) Colts (NCTexan) -- Damien Wilson, ILB, Minnesota 127 (+80)
27(244) Colts (from Cowboys) (NCTexan) -- Bobby McCain, CB, Memphis 154 (+90)
38(255) Colts (comp) (NCTexan) -- Donald Celiscar, CB, Western Michigan UDFA

The pick I'm most proud of here is Marpet. I got the right draft slot (but the wrong team). While I pulled Davison and Fabuluje earlier than they went in the actual draft, they were gone by the time I picked again so I consider those successes as well. Overall I'm extremely happy with how I did here.

Titans

2(2) Titans (Group Pick) -- Leonard Williams, DL, Southern California 6 (-4)
1(33) Titans (Group Pick) -- T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh 110 (-77)
2(66) Titans (NCTexan) -- Steven Nelson, CB, Oregon State 98 (-32)
1(100) Titans (NCTexan) -- James Sample, S, Louisville 104 (-4)
2(138) Titans (NCTexan) -- Vince Mayle, WR, Washington State 123 (+15)
1(177) Titans (NCTexan) -- Anthony Jefferson, S, UCLA UDFA
32(208) Titans (from Patriots) (NCTexan) -- B.J. Dubose, DE, Louisville 193 (+15)

Not as strong here. You guys really screwed me with the group picks :kitten:

I kid, But I definitely did not draft as well here, but I'm happy with Nelson and Sample as they would not have been around by my next picks (going with how the real draft fell).

My draft haul:

R1 24(24) Cardinals - Cameron Erving, C, Florida State (Actual: 19)
R2 23(55) Cardinals - Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson (Actual: 31)
R3 22(86) Cardinals - Markus Golden, OLB, Missouri (Actual: 58)
R4 24(123) Cardinals - Jacoby Glenn, CB, UCF (Actual: Undrafted)
R5 23(159) Cardinals - Wes Saxton, TE, South Alabama (Actual: Undrafted)
R6 22(198) Cardinals - Matt Jones, RB, Florida (Actual: 95)
R7 24(241) Cardinals - Darrian Miller, T, Kentucky (Actual: Undrafted)
R7 39(256) Cardinals - Chucky Hunter, DT, TCU (Actual: Undrafted)

Actual Cardinals draft haul:

R1 24(24) Cardinals - D.J. Humphries, OT, Florida
R2 26(58) Cardinals - Markus Golden, OLB, Missouri
R3 22(86) Cardinals - David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa
R4 17(116) Cardinals - Rodney Gunter, DT, Delaware St.
R5 22(158) Cardinals - Shaquille Riddick, DE, WVU
R6 23(159) Cardinals - J.J. Nelson, WR, UAB
R7 39(256) Cardinals - Gerald Christian, TE, Louisville

I addressed a lot of the same positions that the Cardinals did in the real draft, so I felt like I did a good job of addressing the needs of the team. I had a few picks that were good value compared to the actual draft, but also drafted a couple of guys that went undrafted.

BL Kelly, Philadelphia Eagles 2015 Mock Draft

1. (20) Eagles (beerlover) -- Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon
Natural plug & fit LG who can also cover either tackle positions, thought this was key to success of my draft & Eagles to protect Sam Bradford & revamped running attack. Reminds me of Logan Mankins when he came out of Fresno State, starting LT who kicked inside & made pro bowl as LG. There exists a huge need on Eagles OL.

2. (52) Eagles (beerlover) -- Damarious Randall, FS, Arizona State

Feel like I got this right, could have flipped Fisher with Randall but felt too many people on this board valued Fisher (OL). Eagles addressed position/need with Rowe instead & traded up to do it.

3. (84) Eagles (beerlover) -- Tony Lippett, WR/CB, Michigan State

Did not go receiver early so this was my answer as well of addressing secondary need @ CB. Lippett went in 5th round to Miami who got a steal, he was Michigan States team mvp.

4. (113) Eagles (from 49ers through Bills) (beerlover) -- Adrian Amos, DB, Penn State

3rd pick addressing secondary so met criteria Eagles viewed. Amos slipped to early 5th selected by Bears (142).

5. (145) Eagles (from Rams) (beerlover) -- Jordan Hicks, LB, Texas

Able to sneak him in here later due to lack of coverage/following which is surprising since he played for the Texas Longhorns. Chip said they targeted him early because he was "their" favorite LB in this draft, so it would seem every team may have reached a little to address this need in a limited class for position.

5. (156) Eagles (beerlover) -- Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina

Addressed slot WR position here with Hardy who went in 4th (107) to Atlanta. Hardy can do everything that Nelson Agholor will now do for Eagles just doesn't have elite speed or playmaking ability. There was a real premium placed on speed @ WR position in this draft.

6. (196) Eagles (beerlover) -- MyCole Pruitt, TE, Southern Illinois

Thought he was perfect fit for Kelly's offense, plus losing Casey. Went off board early in 5th to Vikings (143) so no longer option in 6th rd.

7. (237) Eagles (beerlover) -- Tony Washington, OLB, Oregon

Eagles went DL but interior instead of outside end or OLB here. Tony was undrafted but is now a Houston Texan. https://twitter.com/ShanePHallam/status/594641576325943296

Actual, Philadelphia Eagles 2015 Draft (comments/grades rang)

1 (20) Nelson Agholor, WR, Southern California Height: 6-0 Weight: 198
I like this kid a lot, and he will be perfect for the Chip Kelly offense. They had to get a receiver, so it works here. B
See logic in this pick, next Maclin proto-type slot wr, but Bradford will need plus protection to get him the ball. Still nice upside, system fit @ position of need.
2 (47)
Eric Rowe. CB, Utah Height: 6-1 Weight: 205
He is one of the most versatile defensive backs in the draft. To go up and get him is a heck of a move by Chip Kelly. I think he can be a star safety, but a lot of scouts love him as a corner. A+
Yeah, Packers snapped up DeMarious Randall in the first, 30th overall so love this pick as next free safety who can cover. Great kid, work ethic with huge upside that fills need.
3 (84) Jordan Hicks OLB, Texas Height: 6-1 Weight: 236
This is a kid who went to Texas with a ton of talent but had some injury issues. He has the ability to be a good player if he can stay healthy in Philadelphia. B-
Hicks had a break out season last year for Texas under Strong. Has all the intangibles you look for in a three down LB plus he is smart, hardworker with plus leadership skills, could wind up replacing Kendricks.
4 (113) Detroit acquires a fourth-round pick from Philadelphia for a 2016 third-round pick. B
Love idea of trading down to acquire day two picks.
6 (191) JaCorey Shepherd, CB, Kansas Height: 5-11 Weight: 199
Instinctual wide receiver to cornerback convert with tremendous ball skills. Limited long speed but has production that´s rare at this point. A-
Hit secondary again in similar fashion with more refined, ready to go prospect in Shepherd, could be a steal & compete immediately.
6 (196) Randall Evans, CB, Kansas State Height: 6-0 Weight: 195
Another long, productive cornerback with ball skills for Philly. Primarily a slot player who can challenge for a roster spot. B-
Like I said before, thought this draft was deep in quality DB's (no reason to reach in the 1st) to mirror all these talented WR's coming out. At 6’0, 195 pounds he ran a 4.4 40 with (you guessed it, the ball skills he compares favorably to Texans CB drafted last year Andre Hall. Evans finished with 64 tackles, four picks, and 10 pass breakups as a senior to earn 1st-team All-Big 12 honors.
7 (237) Brian Mihalik | DE, Boston College Height: 6-9 Weight: 302
Drafted based off size/length at 6-foot-9 and 295 pounds. Underwhelming on tape with very little impact. C-
One pick I hate, but like Bair (who went undrafted, even tried out of Texans) now solid rotational player, Kelly likes these massive DL. Not much of boom or bust player, just a project.

For the Giants, I picked:

9 (10). Todd Gurley, RB. Rams
40 (25). Shaq Thompson, OLB. Panthers
108 (197). Derron Smith, FS. Bengals
144 (101). Trey Flowers, DE. Patriots
186 (228). Austin Shepard, OT/OG. Vikings
226 (162). Kenny Bell, WR, Buccs
245 (UDFA). Zach Hodges, LB. Colts

For the Broncos:
28 (55). Maxx Williams, TE. Ravens.
92 (59). Ty Sambrailo, OT. Broncos!!!! Go, me!
143 (113). Gabe Wright, DT. Lions.
164 (118). Ramik Wilson, ILB. Chiefs.
203 (212). Anthony Chickillo, DE. Pittsburgh.
250 (UDFA). Titus Davis, WR. Chargers.
251 (UDFA). Justin Manton, K. Ravens.
252 (UDFA). Trevor Pardula, P. None.

I feel pretty good. Most of the guys I drafted got drafted and many of them went before I drafted them, so I think I got some good value. Only one guy didn't even get picked up as a UDFA, and he's a punter.

Only one guy I drafted for one of my teams actually got picked by one of my teams and that was Sambrailo to the Broncos. But I'm still feeling pretty good about that.

Nice job on both counts :):)
