2009 Member Mock (Second) Rounds 4-7

Jennings is still a good pick at the top of the fourth round. He would be Jackson's backup if the Rams got him. Please don't complain about the pick just because Jennings didn't fall to you. :shades:

I never said it wasn't a good pick or a great value. I was thinking he was going to slide to the Texans, which would have been a great for me. There are other quality backs that will be there if I decide to go rb.

Now, shut your pie-hole and continue to moderate. Since you are in charge now, would you please update the picks? Thanks.

I don't buy the notion that a good RB combo needs one speed guy and one power guy. I would rather just have the two best guys I can get. That's just me though, I guess.

We absolutely need a good short yardage back. Look at most of the successful combos, Stewart/Williams, Whine/Dine, Jacobs/Ward, etc.

And Raji would have been a nice pick at #24 for the Falcons...

ROUND 4.

97.) Dallas Cowgirls (F/DET) Select: Derrick Williams, WR, Penn State

98.) Kansas City Chiefs Select: Xavier Fulton, OT, Illinois

99.) St. Louis Rams Select: Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty

100.) Cleveland Browns Select: T.J. Lang, OT Eastern Michigan

The Seahawks are on the clock... group pick?

We do need a good back on the goal line, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a power back.

Priest Holmes was excellent inside the 5 and he was more of an elusive guy than anything else.

If it were me running the draft, if I decided to go running back I would take the best guy at that spot, not the biggest guy.

I guess we just differ there.

I'm recommending a WR or Dline for the Hawks. I understand they got Housh in FA, but WR is still a need.

HOU-TEX's pick would be, Matt Shaughnessy, Wisconsin DE

or

Johnny Knox, Abilene Christian WR

I think I'd lean towards defense by going with the DE. What say you?

And Raji would have been a nice pick at #24 for the Falcons...

I posted my thoughts on the Seahawks earlier. Thoughts?

Seahawks could use a Guard, another WR, Safety and or CB. LB would also be something we should look at since they traded away Julian Peterson.

They have already selected a guard in this draft.

4.) Eugene Monroe, OT, Virgina
37.) Sean smith, CB/S, Utah
68.) Andy Levitre, OG, Oregon State

Via PM from Wolverinefan with the 99th pick in the draft the St. Louis Rams select... Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty.

Son of a *****!!!!! I new it!!!!!:foottap:

Cadogan was selected 96th overall by the Steelers. You guys can't have him! :hunter:

SORRY! I thought I had the list complete. It was really late when I made and I was really tired. I was hoping it would speed things up but apperently it didnt do any good.:gun:

They are completely different backs. Slaton is a burner and Jennings would be the force. Stephen Jackson can mix it up in the middle. Jennings and Jackson wouldn't compliment as well as Jennings and Slaton.

I understand what you're saying here, but like bah said earlier they don't have to "compliment" each other for it to work. They are actually very similar in style so that would be useful in the fact that nothing has to change in the offense when the other one is in.

Jackson can both run with speed and with power which means having a speedier compliment to him isn't really a need. With Jennings you get someone who, while unproven, can also run with speed and power. IMO it's a great pairing.

I will take the Jets unless we are going to do group picks with the vacant teams.

It isn't like the Redskins have any draft picks. LOL

Anyway here is an updated list of players left.

Guys I am reading the boards but I am working SXSW this week cause I can make more here than my other job. Hey I got to see third eye blind and I am getting into a show I cant name cause it is not listed as they are just doing a jam session free. The latter is not free.

I will pick for the Niners it just may be latter than y'all like. Just bare with me.

With pick # 102 of the 4th round the Cincinnati Bengals Select:

A.Q. Shipley OC Penn State.

Its probably a round to early for him but he is the last draftable C IMO and I have a huge need for one. My main goal in this draft was to improve the OL and pass rush. I believe I have accomplished that.

This has been a good mock with solid picks for the most part. It has opened my eyes to a few things. I would probably pick a little differently if I could do it over. If this mock holds even relatively true then there is going to be some very good talent left for us in the later rounds. Breaking down whats left has made me realize that there are more Rotational DL in this draft than I had believed. By rotational I mean not coming in and starting right away but being talented enough to be included in the rotation early on.
Guys like

You better draft a RT pretty soon.... or you'll run out of QB's by the start of October. pickings getting slim boy.

According to Smith, the Bears are starting the free agent they signed from Carolina at right tackle. Give me time, Pete, it's in the plan.
This draft got completly out of line with what I was going to do when Sanchez and Harvin fell to me.

I've been out of it the past few days. I've got a sinus infection AND the flu. I'm willing to pick up another team at this point. Vikings?

Was it Metallica? I heard they were playing a surprise show.

Can we get an OFFICIAL ruling by whoever has taken over as the moderator as to what the clock is?

Are we still sticking with 12 hours at this point?

I don't see why we would change it now. It has been 11 hours since the last pick, so hopefully the Jags make the pick soon.

Cool. Just wanted to get an official word. And yeah, I asked because the clock is almost up. I'd love to keep this thing moving, obviously.

If y'all end up doing a group pick I would advise a CB. They could use the depth there.

Otherwise, go BPA.

I was literally about to post the same. All they've done to address their (what I think is a pretty desperate) need at CB is re-sign Scott Starks.

They could also use an OG I think... but CB looks like by far their biggest need.

Anyway, I'll keep from posting player names until the clock is out. Don't want to jump the gun.

I don't know, man. They could stand to draft a few more WR's. At this spot, maybe Brandon Gibson, Mike Wallace, or Mohamed Massaquoi.

Although at this spot, the better value may be CBs like Asher Allen or Kevin Barnes?

I'd rather just wait until the time is up before going that far. The rep could still show up for them and he should get his time.

Hey, guys sorry for being so late, today is the Islamic new year so Iv'e been busy with stuff...anyways, I know CB is a need for the Jags but with the loss of Mike Peterson the Jags select...

Frantz Joseph

Couldn't find a pic but those who don't know Joseph heres a video that explains what this guy brings in terms of talent and skill.

Frantz Joseph is a MLB and an excellent player who can cover as well as lay the hammer on opposing players. Del Rio well absolutly turn him into a beast and he fits the Jags perfectly.

Found this in the old thread...

GoldenSilence said:
I can at least make it throug the fourth round though I am not as versed in some of the late round picks. While I haven't had a flashy draft for the Raiders I think that is something different in itself. I had to address one of the worst run defenses in the league and I think B.J. Raji will help tremendously will that. Javon Walker has not made the impact that they ahve hoped but if he's healthy this year Him and Britt will make great targets for Russell. My third round pick was hard to go with but if this offense is going to do anything next year they are going to have to be solid on the line. That was made difficult with Jake Grove leaving. I picked up whom I thought was the best center available in Caldwell.

So far I think Bah has done a good job for the Pack and I think Super Mario has done agood job retooling the Lions into a team that can bounce back from last year's disaster.
