Houston Texans 2025 Training Camp

Apologies if I missed it, but what does this mean for his timetable to return to football? 3-6 months?
My reading of Doc’s post is that return to football is 8-12 weeks and getting back to top form is 3-6 months, meaning he’ll be available by December and may or may not be the player we hoped for come playoff time.

The plus side is that he’ll have no issues come TC next year, hopefully he signs a longer term deal and it’s somewhat team friendly, seems like the kind of vocal leader this team needs.

Only issue with that is I heard that if they IR him before the start of the season there is no option to return, so the Texans would have to carry him on the roster, but I’m unsure if I misunderstood that?

Another problem is that we seemed to have loads of depth at DB but suddenly they are dropping like flies. Does Nick need to make a move for Simmonds or another S? Or move another DB such as Pitre or a backup CB to the S position? Suddenly we are very thin at a position we thought we had depth in.

Man that blows so many chunks i can build a chunk castle.

That safety duo was looking elite. Now…gonna have to cobble some things together. Ward might now be pressed into duty. MJ Stewart will play more.Reed may have to grow up fast instead of easing in. Trades/waiver wire is a possibility.

This team never catches a break. The football gods hate this team with a passion.
I think the football god's hate Houston NFL teams. Maybe the Astrodome & NRG are built on an old Indian burial ground.

Every year it's the same old thing, certain players we need to depend on get injured. Happens to all the teams. The defense may be thinning out some, but it still remains very intact.

It's the offense we need to be worried about.

I wouldn’t say depend on to make this defense go.

More a dagger through the heart kinda guy.

If this is what he has......excerpt from my initial post:

In my experience, most will recover well with conservative treatment. This is quite a painful condition, and can be excruciatingly so when extending the leg (which maximally compresses the fat pad). The rehab to return is variable and not altogether predictable. Initial recovery can take between 8-12 weeks. Full recovery can range from 3-6 months.

I included performance rate of return percentage and rate to return to previous performance stats if conservative treatment fails and surgery is necessary.

What I did not include at the time in that post because there is limited information available on conservative treatment rates of return to pre-injury level was the one study that demonstrated that 49 out of 55 athletes (~ 90%) with conservative treatment returned to previous performance level............ultimately a bit of good news.

Keep ion mind that this analysis/timeline is only pertinent if indeed he is dealing with knee fat impingement. Other and additional injuries (which undoubted would be involved with a fat impingement syndrome) could change the projections.

Ward’s attorney said the former first-round pick was unaware he could not consume any alcohol as part of a bond condition. mmm
Isn't it the lawyer's responsibility to make sure his client knows the conditions of his bond release?

I have a problem believing it. Is even true, what does that say about the attorney? What does that say about Ward?

Wouldn't the attorney have communicated that to Ward? Sorry, I'm not counting on this guy. Hell, Gardner-Johnson might be back before Ward's suspension is over. I don't care what happens at Ward's hearing next week. I know Goodell is handing him 6 weeks.

Thanks for posting this, but until I hear more supporting details of his injury from the team, I will remain skeptical of the timeline. I am hoping they are not going to try to rush him back to meet a "deadline" before he is ready.

[EDIT] Focusing on rest, pain management, and a progressive rehabilitation program, I have found only one exceptional case study that shows a professional football player returning to competitive play in 6 weeks. Initial recovery can take 8-12 weeks for most individuals.

Whatever happened to the old days where if you if you didn't quote Biblical passages and wasn't an upstanding good citizen of high moral values you didn't get looked at?

Knee hyperextension is the same mechanism that can cause a pad impingement syndrome or an ACL .................that's why the initial fear of an ACL.

The proposed treatment is consistent with fat pad impingement syndrome..............first conservative rehab..............PRP (platelet rich plasma) is generally considered only after more conservative treatments, such as physical therapy, rest, and anti-inflammatory medications, have been attempted without sufficient relief. While some studies show promising results, the effectiveness of PRP for impingement can vary, and it's not guaranteed to work for everyone.

I dont personally need to see the viseo, hut i would love for CnD to see it. I think that would help him…and in turn us fans..have a better understanding of his situation. Im very thankful to have a real Dr as a great Texans fan and willing to share his expertise here. I know he is a busy man, but he finds time to share with us. Thank you so much Dr.

After the Rashee Rice thing Ward will probably be available for the entire yr.

How so? Ward's outcome could be known as early as next week.
How many players get their punishment the season after they do their crime vs the same season they do their crime? I really dont know the answer to this, but it seems to me that the punishment is usually delayed.

The most important position was battered last year. Their answer? Bottom of the barrel guys. Look how quickly they jumped in for defensive guys and look at the oline replacement. You best oline player was traded for player half as good with the same faults. Tomlinson hasn't been good in years, he's you cheap lg. Who knows who's playing center? Now you have a 2nd yr player who was so bad they move that the rookie over there
Exactly what I've been saying from the beginning!

The big difference is that Ward's situation involves domestic violence..........something the NFL now claims to prioritize.

@CloakNNNdagger
I know you said it is not always effective but why wouldn't they try the PRP on him anyway?

I actually said that PRP may be entertained after a period of time with typical conservative treatment.

Steroid injections and possible addition of oral steroids are typically given very early in the treatment to quickly bring down the significant inflammation/swelling/pain associated with the injury. There is a conflict between steroid and PRP mechanisms. Steroids reduce inflammation, while PRP relies on an inflammatory response to initiate healing. Therefore, injecting PRP immediately after a steroid injection lessens the effectiveness of the PRP treatment. And be aware that PRP can take a few weeks to see or feel the initial results of the treatment.

Couldn't agree more! We're spoiled over here to have CnD!
