Houston Texans 2025 Training Camp

It sucks...hard. But that's football. Guys needs reps and live bullets to get ready for the rigors of the season. Doesn't mean that it doesn't blow chunks because it does. Let's hope it's not an ACL as that very likely be the end of his season. Maybe in a best case he's back for the playoffs but that's asking a lot of an ACL rehab.

Reed was having a good camp for a rookie, and was pushing to make the team. IF CJ is out for the year or an extended amount of time, he'd be a lock to make the roster and compete for minutes. Now, he's out, although in his case it's not serious and he should be back in time to get in the action sometime early in the year.

Who else do they have at S? MJ Stewart and a cast of thousands? Pitre moves from slot back to S?

Nobody is on the roster that can touch CJGJ that's for damn sure. It's a tough blow to the defense if they have lost him. The D will still be very good...but maybe it loses that true elite status.
Ward/Reed/Jaylin Smith, I'm sure glad Caserio drafted Smith.

As I've previously posted, I've always been guarded re. Stroud's decision making, especially in this particular new scheme where there is greater responsibilities on the shoulders of the QB for there to be success. Stroud has said that he wants to be able to control more of the offense, and the Texans have said they intend to give him a lot more control this year. I don't feel comfortable in this happening any time soon. Sean Pendergast, a QB himself and a good evaluator of QBs does not ease the discomfort.

C.J. Stroud Gets Discouraging Update out of Texans Training Camp

The Houston Texans will need C.J. Stroud to have a bounce-back year under new offensive coordinator Nick Caley if they're to contend in the 2025 NFL season.

In 2025 NFL training camp, the Houston Texans have set out to meaningfully improve a team that's won 20 games over the last two seasons. That's both a promising place to start, and a difficult spot to rise up from.

After finishing 10-7 in both of the past two years, the Texans saw their season end the same way each time: flaming out in a disappointing beatdown in the Divisional Round at the hands of a clearly superior postseason team. Last year, they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2023, it was a 10-34 blowout to the Baltimore Ravens.

While they were able to win 10 games and advance in Wildcard Weekend last season, there were plenty of glaring areas for improvement that gave the Texans clear paths to development. Mainly, they'll be looking to raise the ceiling on an offense that was hamstrung by both injuries and inconsistency. New offensive coordinator Nick Caley will be looking to breathe life back into a stagnated attack and rejuvenate the progression of third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud.

C.J. Stroud has been underwhelming so far in the Houston Texans' 2025 NFL training camp

For the most part, C.J. Stroud returning to form after a slight sophomore slump was seen as sort of a given. With better health for his weapons and a revamped offensive line, the hope was that he would regain an upward trajectory from his stellar rookie campaign.

If Nick Caley could recapture the success he found as the passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams last season, Stroud should be able to thrive in a new system. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case so far throughout training camp. HoustonPress's Sean Pendergast recently highlighted some of the lows that the Texans' quarterback has experienced so far:

"Stroud has been, at best, up and down during this training camp. That’s understandable, given the installation of a new system, the near complete turnover of personnel on the offensive line, and the fact that he is going against one of the best defenses in football.
However, the disturbing thing about Stroud is that, even when the protection is decent, he is getting jumpy in the pocket. Also, the interceptions that he’s thrown in camp, and there have been several, appear to be poor decisions or misreads of the defense, not interceptions caused by pressure up front. When Stroud’s first read is open, he’s looked really good. When it’s not, he’s looked pedestrian."
This season will go a long way in determining what the Texans will do in the draft and way CJs 2nd contract will look like.
All accounts are saying that Mills has looked very good. Maybe he should get some reps with the ones.
Seriously, I expect early struggles from both the OL & CJ.

Ward/Reed/Jaylin Smith, I'm sure glad Caserio drafted Smith.
It’s a shame Jaylen Reed got hurt and will appear to miss some time. Could be a golden opportunity for whoever is available to play in a secondary filled with studs and a stellar pass rush backing them. Look what it did for Eric Murray’s pay this offseason.

Man that blows so many chunks i can build a chunk castle.

That safety duo was looking elite. Now…gonna have to cobble some things together. Ward might now be pressed into duty. MJ Stewart will play more.Reed may have to grow up fast instead of easing in. Trades/waiver wire is a possibility.

This team never catches a break. The football gods hate this team with a passion.

Injuries happen to every team. It’s unfortunate losing CJGJ but this defense will still be elite without him provided the core stays healthy (Hunter, Anderson and Stingley).

Wow then Wilson blew this one. He probably got the “ya this looks like a classic ACL but we are trying to confirm” and Wilson wants to be first and released it. Glad he corrected the record but thats not the best look for AW. All in all, i still trust him but he needs to be right not first.

And i have never been happier for him to be wrong. Now we will see if its best case like missing a few games or its half a year or what. But This is encouraging and i am crossing my fingers. Great news guys.

This is going to be an average offense and CJ is gonna get hit alot. They could've solved alot of problems by bringing in Becton, Daniels, or scheriff, instead they chose Rankins, Robinson, and bunch of guys who gave up alot of pressure and sacks last year.
Exactly

I have not seen much about Chubb in the last 2 days. It now makes sense in that 2 days ago I found out that he took a hard hit to the head and has not practiced since. No mention of the concussion protocol. Somewhat strange.

Jimmie ward was arrested this evening for testing positive for alcohol..........a violation of his bond. His domestic assault case court date is scheduled for 1 week from now. He is truly an idiot.

Jesus Christ.. Bad timing bro. I would cut his ass just, because of his sheer stupidity alone.
